3INTRODUCTION
YORK Millennium Air-Cooled Scroll Chillers provide chilled water for all air conditioning
applications using central station air handling units or terminal units. They are completely
self-contained and are designed for outdoor (roof or ground level) installation. Each unit
includes hermetic scroll compressors, a liquid cooler, air cooled condenser, and a weather
proof microprocessor control center, all mounted on a formed steel base.
4SPECIFICATIONS
GENERAL
The 20-115 Ton (70-400 kW) YCA Models are shippedcomplete from the factory ready for installation anduse.
The unit is pressure-tested, evacuated, and fullycharged with Refrigerant-22 (HCFC-22) or optionalR-407C and includes an initial oil charge. Afterassembly, a complete operational test is performedwith water flowing through the cooler to ensure thatthe refrigeration circuit operates correctly.
COMPRESSORS
The chiller has suction-gas cooled, hermetic, scrollcompressors. The compressors features are no-contact scroll design utilizing floating tip seals. Highefficiency is achieved through a controlled orbit andthe use of an advanced scroll geometry. All rotatingparts are statically and dynamically balanced. A largeinternal volume and oil reservoir means greater liquidtolerance.
COOLER
The cooler is covered with 19mm (3/4) flexible,closed-cell, foam insulation (K=0.25).
The water baffles are constructed of galvanized steelto resist corrosion.
CONDENSER
Coils -The condenser coils are seamless coppertubes arranged in staggered rows, mechanicallyexpanded into aluminum fins. Integral subcoolingis included. The testing pressure of the coil is 450PSIG(31 bar).
Fans - The condenser fans consist of corrosionresistant aluminum hub and glass fiber reinforcedcomposite blades molded into a low noise design. Theyare designed for maximum efficiency and are staticallyand dynamically balanced for vibration free operation.They are directly driven by independent motors, andpositioned for vertical air discharge. The fan guardsare constructed of heavy-gauge, rust-resistant andoven baked polyester coating.
Motors - The fan motors are Totally Enclosed ForceCooling, squirrel-cage type. They feature ball bearingsthat are double-sealed and permanently lubricated.
Provisions are included for: pumpdown at shutdown;optional remote chilled water temperature reset andtwo steps of demand load limiting from an externalbuilding automation system. Unit alarm contacts arestandard.
The operating program is stored in non-volatilememory (EPROM) to eliminate chiller failure due toAC powered failure/battery discharged. Programmedsetpoints are retained in lithium battery-backed RTCmemory for 5 years minimum.
POWER PANEL
Each panel contains: Compressor power terminals Compressor motor soft starters or across-the-line
starting contactors per I.E.C. Control power terminals to accept incoming for
115-1-50 / 60 control power Fan contactors & overload current protection
The power wiring is routed through liquid-tight conduitto the compressors and fans.

SINGLE-POINT NON-FUSED DISCONNECTSWITCH - A disconnect switch with external, lockablehandle can be supplied by others to isolate the unitpower voltage for servicing. CONTROLS OPTIONS:
AMBIENT KIT (LOW) - Standard units will operateto 25F(4C). This accessory includes all necessarycomponents to permit chiller operation to 0F (-18C).(This option includes the Discharge PressureTransducer/Readout Capability option). For properhead pressure control in applications below 25F(-4C) where wind gusts may exceed 5 mph., it isrecommended that optional Condenser LouveredEnclosure Panels also be included. BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEM INTERFACE -The factory addition of a Printed Circuit Board toaccept a 4-20 milliamp, 0-10VDC or contact closureinput to reset the leaving chiller liquid temperaturefrom Building Automation System. (Only one offollowing options can be offered on a unit at a time:BAS, Remote Control Panel or Multiunit SequenceControl). (Factory-mounted)
- The standard unit capabilities include remotestartstop, remote water temperature reset via aPWM input signal or up to two steps of demand(load) limiting depending on model.
- The standard control panel can be directlyconnected to a YORK Building Automated Systemvia the standard on board RS485 communicationport.
DISCHARGE PRESSURE TRANSDUCERS ANDREAD OUT CAPABILITY - The addition of pressuretransducers allows models to sense and displaydischarge pressure.This is recommended for brinechilling applications. DX COOLER 21 Bar (300 PSIG) DWP WATERSIDE- The waterside will be of 300 PSIG (21 bar) insteadof the standard 150 PSIG (10.5 bar) DWP. 300 PSIG(216mm) R.F. flanges are included on the DX coolernozzles. (Factory-mounted.) The companion flangeswill be field-supplied by others.

Capacity ratings for YORK YCA Packaged Air-CooledLiquid Chillers, shown on pages 11 cover the majorityof design applications for these units. For unusualapplications or uses beyond the scope of this catalog,please consult your nearest YORK Office orrepresentative.
SELECTION RULES
1. RATINGS - Ratings may be interpolated, but must notbe extrapolated. The Ratings given on pages 11and the DESIGN PARAMETERS given on thepage 6 indicate the limits of application for thesechillers.
2. COOLER WATER - Ratings are based upon 2.4 GPMper ton (0.15L/S per cooling kW) which is equal toa 10F (5.6C) chilled water range and a 0.0001fouling factor for the cooler at sea level.Tables on pages 10 give capacity, and compressorkW required.

COMPRESSOR ACOUSTIC SOUND BLANKET -Each compressor is individually enclosed by anacoustic sound blanket. The sound blankets are madewith one layer of acounstical absorbent textilefiber of 5/8 (15mm) thickness; one layer ofanti-vibrating material, reinforced for temperature andUV resistance. NOTES:1. Minimum Circuit Ampacity (MCA) is based on
