Many of you must be watching the Olympic Games. It’s been so great to see somany Australian athletes participating. On Monday our Zoom class session willbe a ‘Green and Gold’ theme so we can support our inspiring athletes. You mayhave an Australian jersey you want to wear, or you can just wear the green andgold colours.

Morning EnglishReadingWatch ‘The Lorax’ on Youtube - make sure you read along as the words light up.

The Lorax - Read Aloud Picture Book

Think of adjectives that describe the Lorax, the Truffula Trees and theBar-Ba-loots.

An adjective is a word that describes a noun. They can be words thatdescribe their looks or their personality.

Use your five senses to help think of a range of adjectives:

1. What does it look like?2. What does it feel like?3. What does it smell like?4. What does it taste like?5. What does it sound like?

Remember to only use the sense if it is appropriate.

Complete ‘The Lorax Adjectives’ worksheet.

Write a paragraph with at least five sentences thatdescribes either the Lorax, the Truffula Trees or theBar-ba-loots. Remember to proofread and edit your workusing “CUPS.”

In the story, the boy and the ant are trying to persuade each other to agree with their point ofview. Think about some situations where you might need to persuade others?For example:

● How do you convince a friend to play a certain game?● Or get your parents to cook a favourite meal?● Or persuade a teacher to do a special activity?

● What is persuasive writing?● Why do people write persuasive texts?● What different types of persuasive texts are there?

Watch Miss Duignan’s Powerpoint video Exploring Persuasive Texts. You can also access thison Seesaw.Look at the structure of persuasive texts, as outlined on the slides.Press pause and complete the ‘Persuasive Text Structure’ worksheet using the heading‘Children Should Not Eat Fast Food.Once you have completed the worksheet, go on to the next slide to check your answers.

Middle 11:30am - Zoom Call- Green and Gold Theme!

Don’t forget to wear green and gold to support our Australian Olympic athletes. You may wantto dress up as your favourite Olympian or wear a sport outfit.

We will be doing our Spelling pre-test, so remember to bring a pencil and piece of paper.

Brain Break:

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, blast off!

Imagine you’re a rocket ship going to the moon.Count backwards starting at 5. After saying eachnumber, squat down lower and lower. When yousay blast off, jump up into the air and land back onyour feet.

Pretend you’re on the moon, walking and moving in slow motion.

Time to come back to Earth! Count backwards from 5 in slow motion, slowly squatting lowerand lower. When you get to zero and it’s time to ‘blast off’ back to normal speed!

Mathematics

SubtractionWe are going to revise the different strategies to solve subtraction problems. The first strategywe will look at is the ‘split strategy’.

for a walk.

We are very lucky because there is one right here in Australia! The Great Barrier Reef, whichis in Queensland, has been chosen as one of the naturalwonders of the world because it is beautiful, important andunique.
