17 th June 2020 Dear Year 5! A Himalayan-heights of a ‘high five’ to our awesome class for the all the high-energy exercising, brilliant blogging and laudable letters - jam-packed with entertaining anecdotes and updates! We’re currently tracking on 650 hours of muscle-flexing effort to date, which is only being bested by the SBSP PE guru’s – Mr Spencer’s – squad, in the form of Y6. Keep the fantastic effort up! Our Y5 blog is gathering momentum, which is excellent to see. Sebastian – your cryptic riddle has me perplexed by I am determined to crack it. It’s an excellent brain teaser! Milan – I hope you enjoyed my Darth Vader breakdancing comment - who knew that there was a disco on the Death Star ?! Samar – it is phenomenal to hear your bubbly and bouncing blog update vis-à-vis your new trampoline and baking endeavours (which, for health and safety considerations, shouldn’t be attempted at the same time!). Adelina – your still life artwork post was truly scrumptious and looks good enough to eat! Pepe – your Maths masterclass was ‘maths-ical’ and I absolutely loved your percentage pie chart, depicting how you are sensibly tracking and allocating your lock down time - I wonder if any of your classmates can guess what you spend the lion’s share of your time doing Roman – your interesting and intellectual English post is at a practically laureate-level! Marina – Mr Maher enjoyed your Dragonfly life cycle diagram and I p-p-p-p-practically flipped out over your p-p-p- p-penguin ‘Flipper Cereal’! The packaging design, artwork and messaging were ‘egg-cellent’! I can easily foresee a colony of consumers queuing up to buy your brand and your 3d nets weren’t ‘out of shape’ either! I check our Y5 blog regularly so please do get involved and share suitable content with our class – such as a picture and recipe of something delectable you’ve baked, a proud piccy of growing greenery you’ve nurtured, creative creations you’ve concocted or brain cell-bulging thought bubbles to baffle and bamboozle! Alternatively, post supportive comments on each other’s blogs! Your loquacious letters and emails always give me a Cheshire cat-sized grin from ear-to-ear. Milan – a humungous happy birthday for tomorrow! I hope you have a wonderful day involving mountains of cake and sensible festivities with family and friends. Mayar – you have the most magnificent creative-eye for detail! Sophie’s sourdough bread crusty ridges do look like the bridge from the Mona Lisa picture! I’ll ask my sister whether she’s seen or looked up the painting recently and subconsciously kneaded it into her dough! Marina – a canorous congratulation on the arrival of your baby cousin and 2 mini-foot sized homes for your homemade socks! Well done on passing your Bulgarian academic year and it was heartfelt to hear of your touching and reflective act of commemorating the Grenfell tragedy, which must never be forgotten and helps remind us how lucky we are to be surrounded by family and friends (even in times where our day-to-day options are more limited). I’m so proud of how positive, philosophical and resourceful you have all been over the past few months. For a lightning-update (as in ‘quick’ rather than ‘weather-related’): Bobby is still injury and ailment- free, which is nothing short of miraculous. She keeps on ‘borrowing’ one of my shoes or trainers. She never fancies a pair (and proceeds to just take one of several). I haven’t been able to locate a running shoe, so I’ve recently had to exercise in blue suede shoes (which might impress Elvis but isn’t particularly great for my feet or the shoes!). Sophie is also continuing to produce a conveyor belt of bread – despite being slightly deflated at the thought of a 30-hour sourdough bread costing a mere £1.90 from the local shop! I’ve tried to reassure her that ‘homemade’ always beats ‘shop-bought’. I’m also incredibly excited about the Premier League starting tonight! I’ve missed my beloved Arsenal

Dear Year 5!

A Himalayan-heights of a ‘high five’ to our awesome class for the all the high-energy exercising,

brilliant blogging and laudable letters - jam-packed with entertaining anecdotes and updates!

We’re currently tracking on 650 hours of muscle-flexing effort to date, which is only being bested by

the SBSP PE guru’s – Mr Spencer’s – squad, in the form of Y6. Keep the fantastic effort up!

Our Y5 blog is gathering momentum, which is excellent to see. Sebastian – your cryptic riddle has

me perplexed by I am determined to crack it. It’s an excellent brain teaser! Milan – I hope you

enjoyed my Darth Vader breakdancing comment - who knew that there was a disco on the Death Star

?! Samar – it is phenomenal to hear your bubbly and bouncing blog update vis-à-vis your new

trampoline and baking endeavours (which, for health and safety considerations, shouldn’t be

attempted at the same time!). Adelina – your still life artwork post was truly scrumptious and looks

good enough to eat! Pepe – your Maths masterclass was ‘maths-ical’ and I absolutely loved your

percentage pie chart, depicting how you are sensibly tracking and allocating your lock down time - I

wonder if any of your classmates can guess what you spend the lion’s share of your time doing …

Roman – your interesting and intellectual English post is at a practically laureate-level! Marina – Mr

Maher enjoyed your Dragonfly life cycle diagram and I p-p-p-p-practically flipped out over your p-p-p-

p-penguin ‘Flipper Cereal’! The packaging design, artwork and messaging were ‘egg-cellent’! I can

easily foresee a colony of consumers queuing up to buy your brand and your 3d nets weren’t ‘out of

shape’ either!

I check our Y5 blog regularly so please do get involved and share suitable content with our class –

such as a picture and recipe of something delectable you’ve baked, a proud piccy of growing

greenery you’ve nurtured, creative creations you’ve concocted or brain cell-bulging thought bubbles

to baffle and bamboozle! Alternatively, post supportive comments on each other’s blogs!

Your loquacious letters and emails always give me a Cheshire cat-sized grin from ear-to-ear. Milan –

a humungous happy birthday for tomorrow! I hope you have a wonderful day involving mountains of

cake and sensible festivities with family and friends. Mayar – you have the most magnificent

creative-eye for detail! Sophie’s sourdough bread crusty ridges do look like the bridge from the

Mona Lisa picture! I’ll ask my sister whether she’s seen or looked up the painting recently and

subconsciously kneaded it into her dough! Marina – a canorous congratulation on the arrival of your

baby cousin and 2 mini-foot sized homes for your homemade socks! Well done on passing your

Bulgarian academic year and it was heartfelt to hear of your touching and reflective act of

commemorating the Grenfell tragedy, which must never be forgotten and helps remind us how lucky

we are to be surrounded by family and friends (even in times where our day-to-day options are more

limited). I’m so proud of how positive, philosophical and resourceful you have all been over the past

few months.

For a lightning-update (as in ‘quick’ rather than ‘weather-related’): Bobby is still injury and ailment-

free, which is nothing short of miraculous. She keeps on ‘borrowing’ one of my shoes or trainers.

She never fancies a pair (and proceeds to just take one of several). I haven’t been able to locate a

running shoe, so I’ve recently had to exercise in blue suede shoes (which might impress Elvis but isn’t

particularly great for my feet or the shoes!). Sophie is also continuing to produce a conveyor belt of

bread – despite being slightly deflated at the thought of a 30-hour sourdough bread costing a mere

£1.90 from the local shop! I’ve tried to reassure her that ‘homemade’ always beats ‘shop-bought’.

I’m also incredibly excited about the Premier League starting tonight! I’ve missed my beloved Arsenal

over the last 3 months but it is slightly unfortunate that we have to play Manchester City for our first

game back. I am trying to channel my inner positive-thinking although many neutral football

enthusiasts don’t fancy our chances!

A quick reminder - please remember to submit your eco-design entry to Queen’s Gate School

by Wednesday 24th June 2020.

Customary instructions, quiz answers and questions all below. I hope you all have a great week.

Keep smiling Y5 and COME ON THE ARSENAL!

All my thoughts and best wishes

Mr Tauchert
