X There are three one hour
lessons in Mathematics a week
X Homework is set once a week
X There are examinations towards theend of each term, the results of whichare used to help us refine which seteach pupil is in.

To ensure that pupils are taughtmaterial which will challenge them
without putting them off, mathematics is taught in abilitysets, based initially upon the KeyStage 2 SAT scores.
In Year 7, there are two equalbands. Within each band, there
are six ability sets:Set 1 and 2 for the most ablemathematicians
Set 3 and 4 for the next mostable
Sets 5 and 6 which offer more
support.
