    X There are three one hour

    lessons in Mathematics a week

    X Homework is set once a week

    X There are examinations towards theend of each term, the results of whichare used to help us refine which seteach pupil is in.

    To ensure that pupils are taughtmaterial which will challenge them

    without putting them off,mathematics is taught in abilitysets, based initially upon the KeyStage 2 SAT scores.

    In Year 7, there are two equalbands. Within each band, there

    are six ability sets:Set 1 and 2 for the most ablemathematicians

    Set 3 and 4 for the next mostable

    Sets 5 and 6 which offer more

    support.
