Reading Tuesday - Predictions

Task: Please read a book of your choice for at least 30 minutes.

Once you have read the text, your challenge is to predict what these texts on the next slide are about by looking for clues on the front cover. Write these predictions down on a sheet of paper or in an exercise book.

I think the book will be about……. I think this because…… Remember to include lots of detail about how you came to this prediction. Did the

pictures or title help you?Each prediction should be three sentences long. Who are the characters? The story? The setting?

WritingToday for writing we are going to give you half an hour to finish off any writing tasks you have not finished from the past week. You might need to finish an ending from a story you wrote last week.

Teachers are not marking work at this stage so remember to self edit what you are writing.

Today in Maths we are doing problem solving. The questions start off easier and begin to get harder. Make sure you show your working out.

1. We went to dinner for my birthday. At the restaurant, I counted 76 people. If 31 were male, how many females were at the restaurant?

2. A flower market has 132 tulips. A florist buys 80 tulips. How many are left?

3. A farmer has 584 cows. He takes 246 to a new field. How many are left behind?

4. Some children were sharing smarties. They had a pack of 20 smarties to share. Each child got 4 smarties each. How many children were sharing the smarties?

5. Krista spends 30 minutes doing her homework, 4 nights a week. How much time does she spend on homework every week?

6. Very hard question! Oranges are sold in bags of 15. A box of oranges contains 9 bags, and they are shipped in crates of 28 boxes. How many oranges are in one crate?

7.Very hard question! Each car leaving a factory has 4 new tyres. 29 car transporters leave with 11 cars on each of them. How many tyres are needed for all the cars?
