The View From Down Under

New Website Nears CompletionDynabrade stands on the brink of announcing an incredible

new sales aid, as the next generation of our global websitewill be unveiled shortly.

This process began back in December 2007, when a WebsitePlanning Committee assembled at our Clarence headquarters

to offer direction for the look, content and navigation of the new site.

Then it was up to Webmaster Jeff Lipski to assimilate all this information and arrive at a completely new design. Jeff ’s challenge was to construct a website that is not only visually exciting, but useful in every corner of the world. Jeff has done an amazing job, as you will see when the site goes live. Watch for our official announcement, coming soon!

Dynabrade Australia has abrasive converting capabilities, giving us a strong advantage in the marketplace.

In the thirtyyears I’ve work-ed for Dyna-brade I’ve seenus grow from aone-tool com-pany to offer-

ing a complete line oftools, accessories andabrasives. In that timewe’ve had tremendousgrowth under an insightful, generous and sometimesblessed owner. I was fortu-nate enough to work side-by-side with my father(Herb), who came fromGeneral Electric with 35

years of manufacturing ex-perience. He was a man offew words, but you listenedcarefully because thosewords held more knowledgethan most books. Wally andHerb professed to hiregood, honest, caring peopleand treat them fairly, know-ing this is a proven formulafor success. Well, it worked— and continues to be thefoundation of Dynabrade aswe sell our products through-out the world.

Manufacturing is defined asthe use of tools and labor tomake things for use or sale.

Sounds simple enough, butit takes a lot more to be a successful manufacturer in today’s economy. In ourcase it’s a group of peoplededicated to development, marketing, sales, purchas-ing, production and ship-ping the best productspossible, to help someoneelse who is producing aproduct to sell. In otherwords, our tools are used for the deburring, sanding, grinding or polishing of our customers’ products before they sell them. They want the best possible

tools and systems to do their work, and Dynabradeprovides them.

Our excellent manufac-turing group starts with alarge team of hard-workingproduction and machineshop personnel, overseen by myself, three foremenand four department heads. Our group of dedicatedforemen consists of MikeWojciechowski in the Ran-dom Orbital Cell, Bill Halikin Methods Tools and Ron Bright in the MachineShop, which runs two full shifts.

Dynabrade Manufacturing Group–Members from each of our manufacturing divisions do an outstanding job.

Our conscientious department heads are Bill Foy in theRepair Department, Bob Rackl in Contact Arms and Vibratory Finishing, Mike Montgomery in Accessories, andStan Yurek in the Maintenance Group.

In the past year our staff assembled over 170,000 airtools, machined more than 300,000 parts, repaired almost9,000 tools, and made in excess of 100,000 accessories —along with keeping a 150,000 square-foot building spotless!

We are always looking for the most cost-effective method

to produce our tools, while at the same time scrutinizingevery purchase. This may mean ordering an automatedparts washer to speed up a process, or buying a laser tomark a variety of parts. With our most recent building addition we improved the plant layout to capitalize on our process flow.

These recent changes, along with our quality-orientedstaff, have positioned Dynabrade to continue as the globalleader in the abrasive tool industry.

Each year, the General Services Administration (GSA) within the USA government negotiates

billions of dollars in federal sales for goods and services supplied from the private

sector. Dynabrade, Inc. will now be able to compete in the government marketplace as we

have been awarded a GSA Federal Supply Contract (No. GS-21F-0069U).

By Colin Brogan - Vice President of Operations

GSA Contract ExpandsSales Opportunities

More and more government sales are made through GSA, not just at the federal level, but state, county, municipal and educational entities can purchase as well. Full and opencompetition still exists, but buyers prefer working with GSA Scheduleholders. Working with a schedule hold-er eliminates much of the paperwork for the contracting officer, if the com-petition comes down to a scheduleholder or a vendor not on a GSASchedule they are very likely to choosethe schedule holder. Dynabrade’s contract is valid for five years with a renewal date of May 31, 2013. Eachyear we are allowed to add additionalitems as well as modify pricing. The geographic coverage of the contract is for the 48 contiguous states. The con-tract includes 4,500 active Dynabradetools, parts, accessories and abrasives.

A GSA Contract has been best described as a “license to hunt” for government opportunities. We nowhave to actively market our contract to potential buyers, and to that effort, we will be developing marketing plansto communicate to all the agencies that shop for supplies and servicesthrough GSA. This being our first year, our goal is to expose Dynabrade’sContract Number and our products toas many as possible government agen-cies through targeted advertising, trade shows, our sales force and othermarketing opportunities including:

Focused advertising in government publications including GovernmentProduct News. Our first ad (shown) will feature an emphasis on our vacuumshrouded tools.

In June 2009, we will be exhibiting at the GSA Products and Services Expoin San Antonio, Texas. It is the largest national show, specially designed tobenefit federal, state and local government employees and military memberswho make or influence pro-curement decisions. Theexhibit floor showcases thecommercial products avail-able exclusively throughGSA contracted vendors.

Our products are listed on GSA’s online shopping and ordering website(gsaadvantage.gov) whichserves as the principal marketing tool for a Sched-ule contractor to the buy-ing agencies that will use it.Government buyers cansearch for the productsthey need, compare pricesand product informationand place their orders.

Government purchasecards. Each potential gov-ernment buyer is issued aPurchase Card enablingthem to make immediate “spot buys” on any Dynabrade item listed on GSAAdvantage! We have begun processing orders already.

Government sales could represent a tremendous growth segment forDynabrade and we are excited about the potential.
