YORKSHIRE & HUMBERSIDE Much like the North West region, there are some huge price differentials be- tween local property markets in Yorkshire and Humberside. The city of York, for instance, boasts an average house price of more than £214,000, and has seen values rise by more than 2% since the start of 2012. North Yorkshire is also a rel- atively expensive area for housing, with picturesque towns such as Harrogate and Hambleton attracting more than £300,000 for detached properties. House prices in Leeds rose by more than 2% between 2012 and 2013, while Bradford experienced a similar rise in its property market. A typical detached house in central Leeds, however, will cost nearly £300,000, which is significantly higher than the national average. One of the most affordable cities in the UK in which to buy a house is Sheffield. The average cost of purchasing a home in the city was just £146,000 in June 2013. The local housing market has suffered in recent years, with average prices falling by more than 7% since the start of 2012. However, this represents a real opportunity for house buyers looking to find real value in the market. property guide

YORKSHIRE & HUMBERSIDE

Much like the North West region, there are some huge price differentials be-tween local property markets in Yorkshire and Humberside.

If you are looking for a real bargain, the town of Barnsley in South Yorkshire has much to offer. Buying a house in Barnsley costs an average of £116,000, which is significantly lower than the national average. And if you want to buy a flat in Barnsley, an average value of just £74,000 makes the area one of the most af-fordable in the UK.

The city of Kingston upon Hull also offers excellent value, and rising prices may mean it’s a good time to invest there. Average property values rose by more than 9% between 2012 and 2013, but the average cost of buying a home is still only around £103,000. If your home buying budget is particularly tight, this up and coming city on the Humber gives you exceptional value.

Barnsley a great option for afforadable homes
