You believe in me, Thomas, because you have seen me, says the Lord;
blessed are they who have not seen me, but still believe!
Tomás, tú crees porque me has visto; dichosos los que creen sin haberme visto, dice el Señor.
In the Acts of the Apostles many “signs and wonders” were
performed in public by Christ’s followers, a demonstration that
produced two results. First, the people of Jerusalem outside the
Christian community were awed by what the disciples were perform
-ing. And in the midst of all this amazement, many were being
converted. Good stewards believe that if they stay focused on Christ
each day, every act has the power to transform a broken world.
quebrantado.

Question of the Week
Second Sunday of Easter —John 20:19-31
Key Passage: Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them and whose sins you retain are retained.”
Question for adults: Jesus' words of greet-ing were "Peace be with you," then an invita-tion to forgive sins. How does forgiveness bring peace to you? Question for children: How can you be-lieve in Jesus when you have never seen him?

From the Deacon’s desk...
(Catholic Online) Pope Francis has become recognized for some of his unconventional practices as pope, and his newest writings may further push him into that role of the “modern-day pontiff.”
“This the most important test for this pope to show us how he deals with dissent in the Church, how he deals with divided issues,” said Massi-mo Faggioli, a Church historian who directs the Institute for Catholicism and Citizenship at the University of St. Thomas, a Catholic school in St. Paul, according to The Washington Post. Since the launch of discussions over the “practicalities” within the Catholic church’s different families, there have been two very important Synods with top bishops of the church and countless rumors surrounding the pope’s unique position on the matters. At the conclusion of the October
2015 Synod on the Family, the attend-ing bishops presented a lengthy docu-ment to the pope with intentions of advising him on the direction to take with his exhortation. According to the National Catholic Reporter, “That document notably recommended a significant softening of the church’s practice toward those who have divorced and remarried.” Pope Francis’ document should sum up all the discussions of the syn-od, but no one knows which direction the unpredictable Argentine pope will take. He could restate the bishops’ thoughts without touching on the most controversial aspects directly, or he could completely produce an entirely new document, throwing out the syn-od fathers’ statements. Nonetheless, the majority of pre-dictions agree there will be some ex-planations over divorced and remar-ried Catholics and receiving Holy Communion. "The document will identify the current stresses on family life from poverty, migration, and war, as well as the hostile legal and cultural frame-work of contemporary Western socie-ty, which Francis calls 'ideological colonization,'" stated Francis' biog-rapher Austen Ivereigh to 'Our Sunday Visitor.' "The exhortation will be an uplifting tribute to the enduring power

Pope Francis finally wrap up anticipated document on controversial family issues. By Editor Catholic News Service, March 30, 2016.
(Document soon... continued) and beauty of family life, offering support and consolation to those struggling against fierce contemporary head-winds to hold families together." During the Synods, the bishops agreed that families do need an in-creased focus in the church, but there was a clear division on topics of Com-munion for the divorced and remar-ried and the LGBT community. "I expect the papal document to be a typical Bergoglio combination of challenge and encouragement," said Archbishop Mark Coleridge of Bris-bane, Australia, using Francis' family name, according to National Catholic Reporter. "This pope has a strange ability to say things which can be quite searing but end up being heart-ening." "If the pope can get the mix of encouragement and challenge right, he'll be the unifier that Peter is meant to be, leading us beyond ideological dogfights and confirming us in the faith." Pope Francis' addressing these topics has become "the most im-portant moment in the Church in the last 50 years. This was the biggest sign of hope that in the Catholic Church there are ideas, and we can talk about it. No one before Francis ever had the courage to think about that," according to Faggioli. Rumors foresee a text of no strik-ing doctrinal or juridical affirmations, but rather will include many innova-tive practical choices regarding mar-riage preparation and couples in irreg-ular situations: not only for the di-vorced and remarried but also for co-habiters, marriages with a believer and non-believer and for those only civilly-married." "In three years, there is a lot he has accomplished. But there is a lot he has not accomplished," Faggioli ex-pressed.
