Ordinary people doing extraordinary things
The focus of our liturgies this week has been to reflect on the words of Luke 4:21-30. The children have shared what extraordinary things they hope to achieve in their lifetimes and how unique and special they are.
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you once again for your support this week. It’s been action packed with various events including our Internet Safety Day taking place. Well done to all our children on a great week of learning at St Cuthbert Mayne.
Please remember to join us next Tuesday for Open Classrooms (3.15pm-3.45pm) and also Parent Forum. Please note this meeting will take place in school in the ‘Oak Tree’ Room and parents will need to sign in at the school office.
Wishing you all a great weekend.
Natalie McCarthy (Headteacher)
Internet safety Day
Tuesday was Safer Internet Day. We began the day with a whole school assembly, reminding children of the importance of keeping their personal information safe. In every class, children will learn about internet safety in a way that is appropriate to their year group.
If you would like any additional information, you might find this website helpful:https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/safer-internet-day-2019/education-packs/activities-parents-and-carers
This is a very important topic to continue discussing with children. The internet is always changing and it is vital that we all keep up to date with the latest technology and the latest ways to keep ourselves and our families safe online.
Thank you to Mrs Bacon for leading this day. Mrs Bacon is currently in the process of compiling some further information for parents in response to some of the comments children made on the day.
Home learning in Year three
Well done to everyone who has brought in
this half term’s Home Learning Project.
Thank you to Year Three St George’s Class
for inviting me to share your Roman
learning. Thank you to parents and carers
for supporting the children with these
projects and sharing in their learning.
Special Meals in Year One
To launch their new RE topic, Year One St
Andrew’s Class held a ‘special meal’. A great
opportunity to socialise and have a class picnic
which was much enjoyed by all.
Thank you to Mrs Brading for organising this.
Dodgeball
Thank you to our Year Three Dodgeball team who took part in a tournament at
Glebelands School last week. Although they did not win, they played brilliantly. Well
done everyone!
Brilliant gymnastics
Well done to all of our fabulous gymnasts. It was
especially great to watch Year 4 St Bernadette’s
Class during their P.E. lesson this week. They
worked with skill and listened carefully to
instructions.
School Council update and the Rising Oak Club
Thank you to all of the children who put forward names for our new Wrap Around
Care. In their School Council meeting this week, the Class Reps considered all of the
suggestions and then through a very robust decision making process came to the
name ‘Rising Oak Club’. The former Music
Room will now be rebranded as the ‘Oak
Tree’ room in celebration of the beautiful
Oak Tree which grows on the playground
next to it.
Thank you to our School Council who
represent their classes so well.
Wrap Around Care starting Monday 25th February 2019
Please ensure that you register your child as soon as possible using the forms which
were sent home last week. All children who have been registered so far have been
guaranteed a place and will be contacted before the half term break with further
details. Please remember to complete a booking form to register your child/children
for the club before the online payment system can be set up.
If you are considering using the club on an ad-hoc basis, then please can I ask that you
complete and return the forms to the school office.
Come and See end of topic celebration
Well done to all of the children who took part in
the end of topic celebration on Tuesday. Thank you
for sharing your ideas and your learning with us.
Thank you to Fr. David for joining us and to Mrs
Moore, our RE Leader, for leading the liturgy.
