Francis: Annunciation is the feast of saying ‘Yes’ to God

On the feast of the Annunciation, the Pope reflected on Mary’s willingness to accept God’s plan for her life for the salvation of the world. “With this ‘yes’ God not only walks with his people, but he becomes one of us and takes on our flesh.” Francis encouraged the congregation to think of their own cooperation with God’s loving plan of salvation; whether we say “yes” to God’s plan for our lives, or if we hide from him, like Adam and Eve after the first sin.

God and money are incompatible, says Pope Francis

Pope Francis dedicated his Tuesday homily to the dangers of placing money before God. “God and money are two bosses and it is impossible to serve both,” he said. He pointed to the example of the early Christians communities, who shared all they had with their community to ensure that nobody was in need.

Holy Popemobile! Fiat that ferried Pope Francis around New York sells for $300,000.

The little Fiat that transported Pope Francis around New York in his visit to the States last year has sold for $300,000 to entrepreneur and businessman Miles Nadal.

Some of the proceeds from its sale will go to Catholic schools and charities in the city, as well Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Near East Welfare Association.
