THe GlorioUs, MUlTi-aWarD WinninG MUsical froM THe coMPoser of Hair

A tale of heroism in a small town in southern California during World War Two. Young Homer delivers telegrams of love, joy and the sorrows of war. His mother prays for the safe return of his brother from the front line. His sister dreams that she too could fi ght for her country.

The Human comedy is a timeless coming-of-age story that celebrates the healing power of community and the unifying spirit of song. The exuberant score of swing, gospel, pop and folk is delivered with explosive energy by a professional cast enhanced by an ensemble of over eighty community performers.

This 70s hit has music by Galt MacDermot whose ground-breaking Hair has enjoyed a thrilling West End revival.

One of the finest works of one of the greatest Twentieth Century dramatists, The Glass Menagerie was Tennessee Williams’ first great Broadway success.

Tom, a young would-be poet, struggles to support his overbearing and sentimental mother and his delicate, obsessive sister. The subject of this deeply touching, autobiographical play is the most fragile of all human emotions – hope.

A high point of our 40th Birthday season is this collaboration between three of the biggest names in European theatre: Jon Fosse (winner of the Ibsen Award 2010), Patrice Chéreau, director of la reine Margot (Jury Prize winner at Cannes) and from the House of the Dead (The Met, New York and La Scala, Milan) and award-winning playwright Simon Stephens (Pornography, Punk rock).

A tale of enduring humanity against insurmountable odds. In i am the Wind two lifelong travelling companions are bound together on a journey across a vast ocean. At once moving and comic, this new work by one of Europe’s most widely performed playwrights dramatises the endless struggle to be human.

From the moment we’re born, we’re growing, we’re ageing. Nothing ever stays the same. As an empty room is filled with hundreds of memories, a group of extraordinary performers create a journey through life over the course of a show.

With the energy, joy and brutal honesty that comes only from children, on ageing turns a sequence of images, ideas and emotions into a visual poem that stretches back to the past and out into the future.

Fevered Sleep has an international reputation for devising bold and experimental work that is both playful and profound. Recent projects include commissions from Brighton Festival, Sadler’s Wells and National Theatre Wales.
