Sample KIL(LEM)NPCZNZ

INTRODUCTION

Your 21 night / 22 day private custom tour begins at the

Kilimanjaro airport in the country of Tanzania and ends at the

Zanzibar International airport also in the country of Tanzania.

Your program is diverse and exiting comprising: a challenging

/rewarding trek to the Roof of Africa; an exhilarating safari of the

Northern Park Circuit: ending with a stay in enchanting Stone Town

on the exotic Island of Zanzibar. You are guaranteed to see and

experience the best that Africa has to offer for the intrepid traveler.

Your tour is comprised of 2 inter-country flights indicated by the red

arrows. Continental flights are indicated with black arrows.

This proposal also offers a choice between yellow and green

venues on the tour where you have ample opportunity to swap travel

tales with fellow guests.

KILIMANJARO – Lemosho Route

Day 1: Day A: Upon arrival into Kilimanjaro

International airport , your party will be met

by a Lion Dog African Safari representative

holding a sign with your last name

displayed, who will transfer you to the town

of Moshi, elevation 2670 ft. (815 m),

situated at the base of Mount

Kilimanjaro on the south side of the

mountain. You will overnight at the Park

View Hotel. Breakfast only is included. This

is a link to some of the more popular Moshi

Restaurants.

Day 2: After an orientation meeting and gear

check, the party sets out in a vehicle(s) to the

starting point of the Lemosho trail and set of

at a leisurely pace into the western forest.

Lunch is taken on the trail and camp is

reached mid- afternoon. Overnight Forest

Camp/Mt Mkubwa/Big Tree Camp.

Day 3: From the forested slopes of Lemosho

the party ascends through forest into the

Shira Plateau. Lunch is taken on the trail and

party arrives in camp mid -afternoon.

Overnight Shira 1 Camp.

Day 4: After a relatively long hike and significant altitude gain, today is a short day and party arrives in Shira 2 camp in time for lunch. A

good day for acclimatization with the option of an afternoon walk with the guide(s). Overnight Shira 2 Camp.

Day 5: The route to Lava Tower takes the party out of the plateau zone into the alpine desert zone. A half day hike where lunch is taken in

camp. In the afternoon, dependent on weather conditions, there is an option to scramble to the top of the nearby Lava Tower. Overnight Lava

Tower Camp.

Day 6: After 2 half days, today is a relatively longer hike day to Karanga camp. The selection of Karanga camp is strategic as significant time

at altitude is essential for safe acclimatization. The party arrives into camp in the late afternoon. Overnight Karanga Camp.

Day 7: Today is another half day ascending to Barafu camp. Once again lunch is taken in camp allowing plenty of time to relax before the

summit bid. Desolate alpine desert and at times strong winds rip over this camp and yet in the evening splendid views of Mawenzi volcano

are the norm. Overnight Barafu Camp.

Day 8: Unlike other routes with a night time ascent, this hike selection affords a day time ascent to Kibo crater. The going is slow but the rim

is eventually reached before descending a little way into the caldera to Crater Camp. The afternoon is spent relaxing and short walks can be

taken with one of your guides. Overnight Crater Camp.

Day 9: After a night in the crater, the party has the shortest final summit bid of any route. With such a short distance to the summit from the

crater (around 1 hour), it is much easier to time the party’s arrival to coincide with the spectacular sunrise. The summit of Kilimanjaro is the

top of the highest freestanding mountain in the world. After your summit bid, the party then descends via the Mweka route .Overnight Mweka

Camp.

Day 10: After breakfast, the party descends further reaching the bottom around mid -day where the party is picked up and transferred back to

your venue. Overnight at the Park View Hotel.

NORTHERN PARK CIRCUIT

Day 11: Today your driver will collect you from your hotel in Moshi and transfer to the Kilimanjaro airport to connect with your flight to an

airstrip in the Northern region of the Serengeti. Upon landing you will be met by your driver and commence your safari of the Northern Park

Circuit the best combination of game parks in the world. Guests are provided a professional English speaking guide driving a specially outfitted

4WD drive vehicle with a pop up roof to allow clients to stand up and view the scenery and wildlife in every direction. The combination of

awesome volcanic scenery, a spectacular plethora of wildlife and colourful local tribes makes for a hugely varied and fascinating safari. A

sighting of the “big five “is almost assured. From the beginning to the end of each day, you will be treated to safari, great meals and hospitality.

Warning ... "what you are about to experience may become addictive".

The safari portion of this proposal comprises camping venues and a mix of permanent tented camps and lodges. For the camping portion, a

cook and camping gear is provided. You will sleep on fold out cots in tents set up in either public campgrounds sharing the facilities, or special

“off- the-grid “campsites. The cook will set up the tents and cook tasty meals outside in the great outdoors. Experience how incredible it is to

sleep in a camping tent in the savannah, under a blanket of stars and listening to all the wildlife during the night.

Day 11 & 12

Day 15

Day 13

Day 14

Day 16 & 17

Your first day of safari is of The Northern Serengeti. In late August and

September the migratory herds are spread out across the northern Serengeti

with the bulk of the migration eventually ending on the Kenyan side of the

Serengeti eco system however, of late, there have been instances where the

entire migration stayed on the Tanzanian side and did not venture into Kenya.

The safest and best place to be situated in the very northern part of the

Serengeti is on the Tanzanian side. Overnight at Woga Special Campsite /

Mara Under Canvas (BLD).

Day 12: A full day devoted to a driving safari of the northern Serengeti and

then relaxing at the camp. Experience one of the oldest eco systems known to

man, where little has changed for thousands of years, offering you some of the

best wildlife viewing in Africa, surrounded by the unspoiled wilderness and

huge predator concentration. Overnight at Woga Special Campsite / Mara

Under Canvas (BLD).

Day 13: Today you will safari southwards towards the central region of the

Serengeti. The central Serengeti is home to the beautiful Seronera valley and

is also referred to as” Cat Central” and home to the big territorial cats. The

largest pride of resident lions and cheetahs are found in central part of the

Serengeti year round, lazing around the many clusters of Kopjes (rock

outcrops). The combination of location and resident prey attracts the largest

populations of predators in Africa. Overnight at the Seronara Campsite /

Heritage Safari Camp (BLD)

Day 14: There is an option to start the day with a Serengeti Hot Air Balloon

Ride ending with a wonderful champagne breakfast under an acacia tree

somewhere on the plains of the Serengeti and resume your safari of the central

Serengeti then eventually enter into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area .E

Simba Campsite / Ngorongoro Rhino

Lodge(BLD)

Day 15:

drive off of the beaten path to Lake Eyasi

Although not really a game destination, Lake Eyasi, just south of the

Serengeti, is a wild, scenically stunning area where you can get a real

insight into the way of life of some of Tanzania's fascinating tribes.

Lake Eyasi Campsite / Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge (BLD)

Day 16: Early this morning you will have the opportunity to go hunting

with members of the Hadzabe Tribe and then visit with the pastoral

Datooga Tribes. These tribes are some of the few last remaining hunter-

gatherers on this continent and are loyal to their indigenous way of life

where little has changed from 10,000 years ago. Afterwards you will

transfer to Tarangire National Park. Overnight at the Tarangire Special

Campsite / Tembo Tarangire Lodge (BLD)

Day 17: Today you will safari Tarangire National Park, one of Africa’s

little known gems. Renown for the thousands of baobab trees that dot the

open plains along with large herd of elephants with sightings reported

upwards to 300 at a time. Overnight at the Tarangire Special Campsite /

Tembo Tarangire Lodge (BLD)

ZANZIBAR

Day 18 -21

Day 18: And now for something completely different and a wonderful way to end

your safari. Today you will transfer to one of the local airstrips where a plane will

whisk you away to the beautiful and exotic archipelago of Zanzibar landing on the

main island of Unguja. You will be welcomed at the airport by a Lion Dog African

Safari representative holding up a sign with your last name on it and be transferred

to your hotel in Stone Town. Overnight at the Clove Hotel / Dhow Palace Hotel

(B).

The Dhow Palace was originally the home of a rich merchant and is located right in

the heart of Stone Town. It has bore witness to goods and treasures shipped to and

from Zanzibar for hundreds of years and is known as a living museum with décor

and artifacts from a time gone by.

Stone Town is the historical capital of Zanzibar island, a wonderful tumbledown

mix of palaces, bazaars and markets and one of the most atmospheric and

fascinating places on the whole Swahili Coast. It used to be said that "when the flute

played in Zanzibar, the whole of Africa danced".

In Stone Town, we only provide breakfast so you have the freedom to wander away

from the hotel and choose to eat at any number of restaurants. This link describes

some of the more popular Stone Town Restaurants.

Some of the Stone Town spots for night life that might appeal to the tourists include

but are not limited to;

Africa House Hotel which has the Sunset Bar to enjoy a beverage while the sun sets.

The Livingstone is a terraced seafront bar with good music playing other than on Friday

evenings.

Mcheza Sports Café is a bar with a number of TV’s to watch sports.

Mercuy’s is a seaside bar with good food and beverage selection with occasional live

music.

Dharma Lounge which is a small unpretentious bar with extended hours.

Day 19: This morning you will take in a scheduled half day Stone Town Tour.

You will tour the David Livingstone house of Wonder, the Palace Museum,

Slave Market, the central market, while making your way through Stone

Town’s narrow winding streets lined with various enterprises. This is also a

great time to do some last minute shopping. Overnight at the Clove Hotel /

Dhow Palace Hotel (B).

Day 20: Zanzibar is also called the Spice Island. A Spice Tour is scheduled for

the first half of the day. The tour consists of visiting a spice plantation where

various spices are plucked from the trees and bushes with explanations given on

the spices. Later a traditional lunch is served and spices area available for

purchase. Overnight at the Clove Hotel / Dhow Palace Hotel (B).

Day 21: Today you will rise early for a scheduled full day Unguja Ukuu Tour,

with a traditional motorized dhow boat heading to a small uninhabited island in

the protected Menai Bay. During low tide you can walk around the island, soak

up the sun on the white sandy beaches and do some snorkeling. A cook travels

with you and prepares a meal from fresh caught fish, local dishes and tropical

fruit. A feast fit for a King and Queen. (This is a private trip). Afterwards you

will be driven back to your hotel in Stone Town and overnight at the Clove

Hotel / Dhow Palace Hotel (B).

Day 22: Today your party will be collected by your driver then transfer to the

Zanzibar International airport to connect with your onward flight.

This is where your journey ends however the memories will endure forever.

WHAT OUR SERVICE INCLUDES

This itinerary and quote are inclusive of all applicable travel visas [ 1 ], current park fees, transfers, current taxes , meals [2], bottled

water on safari, accommodations, core tour costs, guides, porters, support staff, private 4WD vehicles, and other modes of transport noted

such as intra-continental and in-country flights[3]. Also included is the tour design itself, the task of booking and confirming arrangements

directly with the African suppliers , making and taking responsibility for financial transactions with vetted licensed African suppliers, and

holding the African suppliers accountable to a higher standard. Lion Dog African Safaris also provides a 24/7 help hotline while on tour, a

Satisfaction Guarantee, and very informative aids such as the African Adventure Guidebook and the Preparing For Kilimanjaro

Guidebook.

Lion Dog African Safaris restricts distribution of this custom program design, in whole or in part, from any other tour companies;

and also points out that its services extend far beyond the tour design itself.

Although Lion Dog African Safaris lends assistance with the following matters, the actual items themselves such as the continental [4]

flights , travel insurance[5], gratuities , immunizations[6], unscheduled and side tours, and special beverages ( unless stated

otherwise ) ; are not included in the quoted tour above.

Lion Dog African Safaris reserves the right to adjust for price changes between the times of presenting a quote, to the time the client books

the tour to account for price fluctuations beyond our control. Delay may result in disappointment.

Note 1: In the case of Rwanda, for Canadian citizens, only the 'entry visa acceptance' certificate is provided; the client is then responsible

for the USD $30 purchase of visa upon arrival. American citizens do not require a visa for Rwanda. In the case of Egypt, travel visas are

paid for by the client upon arrival.

Note 2: The rule of thumb regarding meals is that all meals are included when the client is in the “constant direct care” of the tour supplier

such as on safari, treks, etc., otherwise the client is usually responsible for the meals. For example, client would usually be responsible for

meals on the day of arrival, meals while in transit including biking, and meals on rest/free days. The exception to this rule is that breakfast

is generally included at all the venues, and that all meals and even spirits may also be included at the “luxury” venues. Some venues offer a

meal plan for an extra cost however it is recommended that clients opt out of a meal plan to give themselves more choice and the freedom

to wander away from the venue. The meals that will be included on the tour will be noted on the final tour program as (B) for breakfast, (L)

for lunch, and (D) for dinner, and (S) if spirits are also included. {Meals in Africa generally cost as much as they do in North America.}

Note 3: A number of inter-continental and in-county/domestic flights are included however they may not all be daily flights meaning the

final program may have to be adjusted to coincide with the available flights.

Note 4 : Continental flights between North America and Africa are not included in the tour and clients are free to purchase their

continental flights from other suppliers .LDAS has experience providing competitively priced continental flights as well ,with the added

benefit of providing hands on immediate assistance in the event of delayed flights and baggage.

Note 5: Travel Insurance is not included in the tour and clients are free to purchase travel insurance from other suppliers. LDAS provides

competitively priced travel insurance as well, with the added benefit of knowing the complexities of travel insurance as it applies to the

African continent.

Note 6: If health issues are a concern, it is suggested that travelers discuss their health and immunizations with their medical doctor prior

to signing up for the tour.
