Since 1984 Summerfuel’s history of inspiring high school students spans generations and we continue to adapt our offerings to the changing needs of students in an increasingly global landscape. Our students explore and learn in some of the world’s most prestigious universities and culturally rich locations. The world has changed, but the goal is the same: prepare students for college and develop a more global understanding to create leaders capable of making an impact.

Students who join our challenging programs develop essential skills that put them ahead of the game. All of our programs are designed to broaden academic and personal horizons, and we work thoughtfully to create opportunities for a truly diverse student population. We have been offering the best, most comprehensive student adventures for over 30 years, and we still know what students want from their summers today.

8 REASONS

WHY SUMMERFUEL

IS THEANSWER TO

YOUR SUMMER:

Inspiring Future leaders for over 30 years, we are proud of our reputation for providing a high level of attention and care, for being pioneers in our field and for finding exciting new ways to make each student’s summer unforgettable.

01. A Taste Of CollegeOur programs prepare students for a successful transitionfrom high school to college in an increasingly global world.Summerfuel students learn to balance academic, socialand extracurricular commitments. They enter collegebetter prepared to make the most of their experience aswell as go on to successful careers.

02. A Global PerspectiveSummerfuel students come from all over the UnitedStates and the world, creating a unique culture andsocial dynamic on our programs. Most students comeindependently, but quickly meet new friends and createa vibrant, exciting and engaged community.

03. Students FirstWe care about each of our students, their individualgrowth and happiness. Every aspect of our programdesign emphasizes that concern: RAs whose soleresponsibility is to care for students; small classesallowing for close communication with faculty; and asenior staff with many years’ experience.

04. Be InspiredSmall, intimate classes and stimulating curricula are taught by the best and brightest in their fields. Classes mimic college seminars stressing collaboration between students and faculty. We carefully use the resources and expertise of the host institution or location.

05. Go Beyond TourismSummerfuel was born from the idea of giving studentstruly unique experiences. Rather than a whirlwind visit tothe obvious tourist destinations, we open many doors togive students the opportunity and freedom to settle intoone country and study its culture, language, people andtraditions as an insider – not as a tourist.

06. Exceptional Leaders & Experts Our people set us apart. Summerfuel program directors average 15 years working with us. Their experience is vital in delivering quality programs year after year. Our faculty is comprised of Rhodes, Marshall and Fulbright Scholars, and top academics and experts from Oxford to Christie’s, as well as writers and industry professionals.

07. Safe & SoundProviding a safe and secure environment for our stu-dents and staff is our top priority. Experienced directors, a residential staff hired at a ratio of 1 to 10 or less, excellent campus security, and full access to medical facilities allow us to keep a careful eye on all of our students. Our staff are on-site and available 24/7 during the program.

08. Once You Go, You KnowWe constantly receive letters, calls and emails fromparents, students and teachers telling us about thepositive effect of Summerfuel programs. Students returnhome having discovered new interests, with new friends, more confidence and a greater awareness of themselvesand the world around them – in short, better preparedfor college and better prepared for life.

Receipt of the student application form and a $1,500 program deposit will initiate enrollment. The program deposit is applied in full towards program fees. There is no application fee. Note: Many programs and courses fill early. Places are awarded on a first come, first served basis.

Admissions Forms All students are required to submit a parent student agreement and a teacher or guidance counselor recommendation. Our admissions team carefully reviews each application and contacts students in the order in which they’ve applied. We have a rolling admissions policy and accept students throughout the year until the programs are full.

Waitlisted Students To join a program, waitlisted students must complete an application and submit it to Summerfuel with a $1,500 program deposit, which is fully refundable if space does not become available or if the application is withdrawn prior to enrollment.

Travel Summerfuel provides escorted flights on all non-US programs. We encourage students to coordinate their own arrangements to match provided itineraries. Independent travelers will be met, but some transfer fees may apply.
