Pope Francis in his letter about holiness (Be Glad and
Rejoice) says: The Letter to the Hebrews invites us to realise
that many witnesses inspire us to advance constantly towards
the goal set for us by the Lord. These witnesses may include our
own mothers, grandmothers or other loved ones. Their lives may
not always have been perfect, yet even amid their faults and
failings they kept moving forward and proved pleasing to the
Lord. (paragraph 3)

The Feast of St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist, is celebrated on the 21st of September (Friday). ‘Come follow
me’ was a very direct call that Jesus made to Matthew.
Each gospel has its own rich perspectives as it tells the story of Jesus in
changing times and differing circumstances. Matthew’s
gospel tells the story of Jesus to a mixed group of Jews
and Gentiles at a very difficult time. Chapters 5-7
make up one of the most striking passages in
Matthew’s Gospel. In this section we find the sermon
on the mount. The 12’Mission Team invite you to ‘New Life in the
Spirit Weekend Seminar which takes place on
September 22nd & 23rd in the Servite Priory, Benburb. Cost of food for two days is £25 and B&B is available for £25 in the
Priory if required. (Tel. 048-37548241). For Bookings contact
[email protected] or phone Marie on
048-85557394 or Claire on 087-2292683.
Summer to Autumn: as the evenings get shorter we are reminded that Summer has given way to Autumn.
Hopefully everyone has had a break to re-charge the
batteries. For many, September marks a new beginning, for example –
those involved in education. Other groups also resume their activities. We wish them all well and every
success in their endeavours.
Dear God, w hen I stand at the beginning of a new day
bless me with Vision to see the best of things to come, Wisdom to make good
decisions, and most of all Faith that you are walking
with me every step of the say. Amen.
