The Molly Media Studios Approach

Our first step in designing your website video is to develop your story. We’ll use the Needs Analysis Worksheet for that.

This Worksheet is made up of trusted creative brainstorming exercises that we will work through - together.

Together - using the Worksheet - we will determine many aspects of your video - including its primary purpose and the core evidence that supports your story.

What information to include? What imagery to use? What shots to shoot? What tone should the voiceover artist produce? What timing? What tempo? What tone to take with the text?

This is the process in which the Creative Team at Molly Media Studios will work out solutions to many of the creative questions surrounding your new video.

Working through the Needs Analysis Worksheet, together with us, fosters communication and understanding.

This is a fun process, and most of our clients really enjoy the brainstorming techniques we use.

The Next Steps The process of working through the Needs Analysis Worksheet presents a unique opportunity for us to put you at the centre of your website video production.

The Worksheet is designed to elicit your ideas, your creativity, your desires. Armed with an understanding of what you want, the Creative Team at Molly Media Studios is now ready to move forward.

At this point, your Creative Team will design the look and feel of your new video.

Using all the rich information gathered via the Worksheet, we will then research your already existing marketing materials for inspiration and guidance. Do you have a slogan or tagline that you already use? Have you made color choices as part of your branding efforts? What kinds of results have you achieved? If they worked for you in the past, should we incorporate them into this new website video?

And most importantly - who is your target audience?

How can we appeal to them? How can we use resources at our command - music and color and textual choices - to captivate their interest?

Our next step is to scout the locations we have planned to shoot. On that day, we bring our still camera with us to document the site, so that we have a lot of photographs to refer to when writing our voiceover text and drawing up our accompanying storyboard. Once these are done, we’ll be sending them to you for your revisions and approval.

The Production Phase: Capturing the ImageryDuring this phase of crafting your website video, we will shoot all the footage needed for the piece.

Beginning early in the morning, our Production Manager will manage all aspects of the shoot that day. She will have already prepared beforehand - changing batteries, cleaning lenses, composing the schedule - so that the Creative Director can concentrate on working with the lighting, sound equipment and camera.

Our Production Manager is extremely capable and efficient, and she is there to attend to all your concerns and questions. Use her skills as much as you need.

The Post-Production Phase: Your Story’s AssemblyDuring this phase - once all the footage has been captured, downloaded and converted into useable High Definition video files - your Creative Team at Molly Media Studios will construct your website video’s story, incorporating your creative vision that you communicated via the Needs Analysis Worksheet.

Using music, voiceover, editing, animations (text and graphics), and background and lower third compositions - your Creative Team will craft your message into a story that not only communicates, but establishes relationships.

At the end of the day, your new website video from Molly Media Studios will be something to be proud of. Something that will tell your story. Something that will begin relationships.

Something, in the end, that you had a vision of in the beginning.

At the End of the Day At the end of the day, Molly Media Studios will provide you with a pristine copy of your High Definition video in H.264 format with rich 16-bit sound, ready to be uploaded to your site’s video player.

What Video Player Should I Use?Players come in all shapes and sizes. Some people use YouTube, because it’s free and easy. But there are very serious problems with using a YouTube player on your site:

(1) YouTube players present YouTube branding - not yours.

(2) YouTube players look unprofessional - like your video is an afterthought.

(3) YouTube players offer your website visitor the chance to navigate away from your site - to YouTube - and many visitors will do this.

(4) YouTube players look like you either cannot afford - or are too cheap to pay for - a High Quality, high definition player.

(5) YouTube players don’t offer the chance to end your video with

a clickable action link. Such a link could direct them to a form maximized to collect leads for your sales team.

You could use a different free Open Source player for your video, but these have associated problems, too:

(1) If available for commercial use, these players usually include their clickable logo - designed to navigate your viewer away from your site.

(2) These players usually include advertisements that play before your video will start. Studies prove that website visitors hate these adverts - and they often navigate away from them before your video even starts.

(3) These players are often difficult to use, bulky to manage, with little or no telephone nor online support. Their learning curve is steep.

Some people still use Flash players, because for a time in the past they were the best players available. But nowadays, this would be a mistake. iPhones and iPads are unable to run Flash code - and so your video will never show up on these devices.

He has extensive writing experience as well and has written way too many short stories - and one novel - to date.
