Traditional Worship, 8:30am

Welcome and Announcements Prelude “The Head that Was Once Crowned with Thorns” Robert Hob-by *Call To Worship Caroline Patton

Let us start this service well, by reminding ourselves that it is not we who chose Christ, But Christ who chose us. That we are not here because of our goodness, But because of Christ’s grace. That we are not here to enlighten ourselves, But to allow Christ to enlighten us. That we have not come to be entertained, But to worship God with heart, soul, mind, and strength.

*Hymn of Praise “Rejoice, the Lord Is King” UMH #715 Adult Volunteer Recognition Jenny Garrott Passing of the Peace Time of Prayer - The Lord’s Prayer Wesley Weaver

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who tres-pass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*Affirmation of Faith Kara Gooch

We believe in God, maker of all things, provider of all things, who loves all people. We follow Jesus, the Christ, the Revealer of God, who taught us to love, who gave us courage to trust God's grace, and who bid us to take up our cross and follow him. He knows us for who we are, heals the wounds of our hearts, and makes us new. In his death and resurrection we see the deepest truth of life. We rely on the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, who empowers us for self-giving love. We give thanks for the Church, the Body of Christ, and for the gift of forgiveness, the power of the resurrection, and the mystery of eternal life. Therefore, we devote ourselves to disciplined practice of the Way of Jesus in our daily lives so that we may grow in faithfulness and serve God in humble confident love for the sake of the healing of the world. Amen.

Gloria Patri

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

Prayer of Illumination Jake Smith Living God, help us to hear Your holy Word that we may truly understand, that understanding, we may believe, and believing we may follow in all faithfulness and obedience, seeking Your honor and glory in all that we do; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
