• This is a guide to setting up each video to Maximize it’s potential reach through Search Engine Optimization• These steps will work with any type of video you use in YouTube

• The first step is you need a video• You can upload a video you recorded (from your phone or digital

camera)• You can record a video directly into YouTube with a webcam• You can create a video with images in YouTube’s editor• However you get there, you need a video

• While your video is processing, start SEOing your video• The first part is the Title -

• This not necessarily the “title” of the video• This is where you show Google the first time that this video is relevant

to a search• Remember the Hummingbird – Semantical questions need semantical

answers

Use the pipe symbol | and add your name and phone number to the title for additional branding

• The next part of SEOing your video is your Description• This works the same as a Blog Post• With 1 small variance • The first 2 sentences of your description will be displayed in the

Google result• You can increase website clicks by starting your description with your

web site• You MUST include the http:// for it to be clickable

• Now you need to set Tags for your video• This helps YouTube categorize your video and show it to relevant

searchers• You can have lots of tags (use key phrases as tags also)• Type in the tag and put a comma at the end to start next tag

• Make your video Local • Geo Tag your video• Click the “Advanced Settings” option

• Type in your Zip code and click search

• One last piece to boost the SEO• Make a Transcript and Caption• Start by going to your Video Manager and click the Video thumbnail

• Select the closed captioning option UNDER not IN your video

• Set the default language (couple hundred)

• There is no longer an automatic English version • There are 3 ways to add your transcript with SEO

• I find the Transcribe and set timing as the easiest option(Create new subtitles or cc is also pretty easy)

• You can SEO the transcript (no one is going to “turn on Closed Captioning” to watch your video• It does not need to match up “exactly” with what you are saying• Put your key phrase from your title and description in the transcript

• Click Set Timing

• It takes about 5 minutes to set the timing• To “activate” your new Closed Captioning• Go to the video manager and select the thumb nail of your video

again

• Click the CC option below the video again

• Select the “English” transcript you see

• You can tweak the times or your transcript if needed• To complete click the Publish option

• YouTube.com provides can be a tremendous tool for your business• Use the Google Rules for your videos title and description• Use the YouTube tools to “localize” your video and enhance the SEO
