An overview of MYAS

A royal decree established the Royal Commission for Yanbu in 1395 Hijri. The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia wanted to execute development plans in order to fulfill its growth strategy which entails expansion of industrial base, diversification of income sources, and technology transfer to achieve self-sufficiency.

After just over 30 years, the desert location became a thriving community with a population that exceeds 100,000 where most people reside permanently and became an industrial strong base for the whole region.

As planned, the prosperity that Yanbu Al-Sinayiah created had expanded to Yanbu Al-Bahr where its community increased in number with better income and more job opportunities which was certainly a welcomed bonus for both Yanbu Al-Bahr and its surrounding areas. Yanbu Al-Sinayiah is still making history with the help of Allah and His guidance.

Yanbu Al-Sinayiah is located on the coastal area of the Red Sea about 350 Kilometers north-west of Jeddah. This young city -just over 30 years- became a center for modern industries and plays a pivotal role in the Kingdom’s gross national income.

Yanbu Al-Sinayiah represents the last station for raw oil and liquid natural gas pipelines. These pipes stretch almost 1200 kilometers through the Kingdom starting from oil wells and gas separation factories in the eastern province to Yanbu Al-Sinayiah where most oil is exported to international markets and the rest is used- along with natural gas- as fuel in refineries and other industries. Yanbu Al-Sinayiah has a strategic location that is close to European markets. The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu has a pioneering experience in city management including public services, education, colleges, health services, landscaping, irrigation and roads. It is the supervisory entity for Yanbu Al-Sinayiah as well as the catalyst for the economic and industrial development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu received numerous awards including the best area for attracting investment in the Middle East according to Financial Times Newspaper. This is a result of the availability of attractive factors and investment incentives offered by the Royal Commission and other entities concerned with local and foreign investment in the Kingdom.

Access to Yanbu Industrial City(Airport-Land roads to MYAS)

For air travellers, Prince Abdul Muhsin Bin Abdulaziz Airport located in the north-east of MYAS connects the

city with the other big cities in the Kingdom like Jeddah and Riyadh. From the airport , there are continue flights to domestic and international destinations. Yanbu airport receives and operates international flights to Egypt, UAE, Jordan and Turkey which provide easy access for people. The airport has a taxi (cap) cars service to transport passengers from/to all residential neighborhoods in the city.

Inside MYAS , there are Saudi Public Transport Company buses (SAPTCO) which connects the city with the rest of the Kingdom. It is also accessible through the land roads for travelers coming from the north of the Kingdom through Tabuk and along Al-Wajih, Dheba and Umluj, and those coming from south of the kingdom through Jazan along Jeddah and Rabigh across Highway No.(5) , and for those coming from east of the Kingdom through Al-Qassim and Al- Madinah across Highway No. (60).

Medical Examination and the job IDHaving accepted the job offer and signed the contract, you will be asked to complete the medical examination

form No. (MYAS DH-PE6) through going to Al-Sawari medical center and RC hospital in Haii Al-Azizyah. You will then be given the ID application form No. (MYAS SEC 3a), which shall be used for official identification and access to RC facilities . Identification cards are to be issued by Cards Unit of Industrial Security Department in Camp (1) next to the Fire Station.

Health CareRegistration in RC health centers

You have to fill out the registration form No.(MYAS HS 19 R) which entitles you to open a medical record in one of the primary care centers for you and your family. You can also add your parents, father – in – law , mother – in – law or maid . You could obtain medical care in the Royal Commission Medical Center which was designed according to the latest and most sophisticated specifications with a capacity of 342 beds and on an area of 67.610 square meters that includes an administration building, a housing compound for nurses, ambulance services area, helipad, mosque, and car parking lot.

Primary Care Centers(Family and Community Medicine)

The Royal Commission Health Services Program offers specialized primary health care services through seven Health centers spread all over Madinat Yanbu Al-Sinayiah neighborhoods. These centers are:

Private Hospitals and PolyclinicsThe private sector operates two hospitals and four polyclinics with a capacity of 120 beds. All health specializations

are available in these facilities which are all equipped with the latest medical equipment with a high level of quality and competence, distinguished medical staff , pharmacy services , emergency ambulance and cater for medically-insured patients as well.

Accommodation Request/Assignment

After completing accommodation form No. (MYAS CS-15) , you should head to Property Department located in Camp (1) along with necessary papers to assign the housing unit and the number of rooms in accordance with the marital status and number of family members. The employee can register in the Home Ownership Program provided by RC after filling out the application with Human Resources and thereon to be submitted to Property Department.

Community AreaAl-Sawari and Al-Nawah districts, located in the eastern part of the residential area, were the first residential

areas developed by the Royal Commission in Yanbu. Afterwards, the neighborhoods of Radwa and Al-Semairi were developed to be the first permanent residential areas. Al-Nahdha district was the last location developed by the Royal Commission; it was designated for the students and employees of Yanbu Industrial College. The rate of construction is fast and vast in order to cope with increasing population.

Moreover, the Royal Commission and the private sector share the responsibility of community area development. The Royal Commission constructed 15600 residential units including villas, townhouses, apartments, dormitories, and condominiums. The number of current beneficiaries from the Royal Commission Home Ownership Program made for its employees reached 2533; while those on the waiting list reached 915; and a total of 796 title deeds were issued. Companies like SABIC, ARAMCO, CRYSTAL, and MARAFIQ provide housing for their employees. By mid-2009, the number of residential units developed by the private sector reached 4219 units.

Cable TV / Internet CableThe Royal Commission established a cable television network that reaches all neighborhoods in Yanbu Al-Sinayiah.

It aims at providing a television service through private channels of the Royal Commission. Through these channels, it provides a variety of programs such as entertainment, awareness, emergency announcements as well as a 24 hour weather information updates. Internet Cable services are provided by a private sector company with several speeds as per user need.

Free Internet Coverage in Parks and GardensIn order to implement the smart city project, residents of Yanbu Al-Sinayiah, as well as visitors, enjoy free Internet

coverage. The first phase covers the Ladies Park in Al-Semairy, Al-BuHaiira Al-Sinayah Park, Al-Munasabat, and Al-Sobih Beach for families and singles alike.

There is also a plan to expand coverage to all public places in Yanbu Al-Sinayiah. In addition, it provides support for school networks and best fiber optic cables to ensure strong and fast Internet connection.

Water and Electricity ServicesPower and Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu (MARAFIQ) provides water and electricity services to all

inhabitants of MYAS. Upon housing unit assignment , you should follow up with the subscription office of MARAFIQ and submit the application form together with the accommodation Request/Assignment form to connect utility services .

Communication ServicesIf there is a need for the land lines service in your house you should head to STC office located in Haii Khaled. As for

mobile phone services, there are several operators such as STC, Mobily and Zain companies with offices in Al-Danah mall, Al-Zakari center and Al-woroud market at Al Semairi.

Education ServicesTo have children enrolled in RC schools, parents shall seek Education Services Department at Camp (1) with a

residence certificate from Property Department or through SAFEER system to register them in the nearest school to the resident unit. There are secondary, Intermediate and elementary schools in MYAS. Also, there is an elementary and intermediate Quran schools complex. The department follows the rules and regulations provided and agreed upon by the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia and has qualified selected school staff in accordance with RC standard hiring policies.

School TransportationThe Royal Commission provides school transportation services to transport (16000) school and kindergarten

students to their respective destinations through specified routes and assembly points and at schedules timelines.

National and Foreign EducationThere are schools at Madinat Yanbu Al-Sinayiah which operate within the International Curricula namely ; Yanbu

International School ( American Curriculum) and Radwa International School ( American and Indian Curriculum).

Yanbu Industrial College

Yanbu Industrial College (YIC) was founded in 1409 /1989 , with the aim of technical preparation of qualified Saudi cadre to operate industries and infrastructure in Madinat Yanbu Al-Sinayiah. The college administration and business programs have recently been academically accredited by the ACBSP organization. Furthermore, all the college engineering and technological programs in all of YIC specializations have received accreditation from the American organization ABET.

Now the college has the following seven main departments offering a total of 11 associate degree programs:

Department of Administration sciences (males and females) offers two tracks :Business administration which contains human resources and accounting. The department offers

Yanbu Technical Institute

The concept of training industries employees at Yanbu Industrial College first emerged in the late twentieth century when the department of special programs and continuing education was founded at the college.

With the development and expansion of this idea, together with the increase of the number of industrial entities in the region and the need for qualified youth of the nation, the Royal Commission at Yanbu decided to establish Yanbu Technical Institute to be the training arm for the colleges and institutes sector in the Royal Commission Yanbu. In 2011, the construction of Yanbu Technical Institute was completed in an area that exceeded 33000 square meters and with an enrolment capacity of 1500 trainees.

The institute consists of five buildings containing a number of training workshops. These workshops were equipped by a specialized team of experts with the highest scientific standards by providing all the necessary equipment and devices needed to train the trainees in different specializations. Additionally, the institute contains a large number of classrooms equipped with the latest technological devices needed for lectures; in addition to computers to facilitate the training process in order to achieve technological excellence which is the primary objective of institute strategy.

Roads Yanbu Al-Sinayiah is connected to the rest of the cities in the Kingdom through a network of modern highways.

Yanbu is the gate for those who are traveling from north to south of the Kingdom. King Abdul Aziz road connects Jeddah with northern coastal areas ; as well as secondary and tertiary roads are connected to this highway that serve industrial and residential areas. There is also the new eastern road that connects the city to Yanbu Al-Bahr and Yanbu Al-Nakhel. It also merges with the highway that reaches the northern parts of the Kingdom and from there to other countries. The road network inside the city allows fast and safe travel and help organize and subdivide neighborhoods for easy thorough traffic.

There are also pedestrians walkways adorned with lush landscaping connecting various residential and commercial areas as well as schools, recreation facilities and dwellings which compliments the overall modern and fascinating character of the city .

Airport and TaxiThe new airport became operational in 2009 to link Yanbu Al-Sinayiah as well as Yanbu Al-Bahr with the major

cities in the Kingdom such as Jeddah and Riyadh from which passengers can fly to different parts of the Kingdom and /or overseas ; in addition to some international flights as well. The city also has rental car offices and a national bus station that connects MYAS to other cities in the Kingdom. The road network is more than 485 square kilometers long.

City BusModern and air-conditioned busses for singles / families started service for the general public on designated routes

to help residents reach their destinations. More buses and new routes will be available to serve as many residents as possible. There are daily shuttle trips to Prince Abdul Muhsin Bin Abdulaziz Airport in line with domestic flight schedule.

Cultural, Social and sports FacilitiesThe Royal Commission constructed 26 sport and recreation centers for males and females, 14 equipped football

fields, 15 tennis courts, a cricket court, and a number of basketball courts. In addition, there are a women’s park, multi-purpose halls for celebrations and gatherings for men and women. RC employees may seek Social Services Department located in Camp (1) to issue single/family membership cards or through the recreation contractor to enroll in various available programs.

Also, there is a well-equipped public library with a digital library system. Furthermore, there are two libraries for children and two for females at the recreation centers. All of these services are made available for Yanbu residents and visitors. In addition, there is a culture and art center that serves a large segment of intellectuals, , plastic arts and theatre performers. The Royal Commission focuses on marine activities and thus created a diving club, boat marina and a private beach for males, which gives visitors full enjoyment of the fascinating scenery. In addition, there are several events organized by the Royal Commission throughout the year that cover sports, cultural and recreational activities.

Commercial FacilitiesRetail sale facilities consists of two primary types ; - Neighborhood commercial centers: to serve the residents of neighborhoods and can easily be reached.

These include markets, small shop outlets, and a variety of restaurants.

-Commercial centers in residential areas: These are larger than neighborhood centers and consist of complexes that provide consumers with the greater part of their needs for different products and services. Madinat Yanbu Al-Sinayiah has a variety of shops and commercial services which satisfy the basic needs and services such as retail shops, pharmacies, bookshops, modern restaurants, fast food restaurants, optician centers, vegetable and fruit stores, car rental shops, tourism offices, telephone communication centers, computer shops, electric appliances maintenance shops, toy shops, clothes shops, shoe shops, and dates-selling shops. .etc. In addition, a commercial area was developed for support projects that include car showrooms and their services, cooling and storing facilities as well as building materials import establishments … etc.
