The Polish Presidency in the Council of the European Union
01.07.-31.12.2011 Dynamics, positive energy and solidarity are the values represented by the logo. It portrays Poland as a modern country of a young spirit that is initiating positive changes in Europe. The logo’s author, Jerzy Janiszewski, is the author of another logo famous around the world, that of the "Solidarnosc", which has become the historical symbol of Poland’s road to freedom and the democratic changes in this part of the world.

Presidency in numbers
The Presidency's most important meetings are held in five Polish cities. These are:

Cuisine PL
Modern, original and very functional guide on Poland. In an
attractive and easy way it helps foreigners understand Poland
and Polish people, it discovers the most interesting places
recommended by a group of public persons and culture
promoters.
On its 208 pages it presents a coherent, clear and up-to-date
review of the most important fields of economic, social and
cultural life in Poland (8 chapters).
It pays attention to those places, people or phenomena which
ascertain Poland's image as a country rich in traditions, and
yet, a country that is creative, modern, and energetic.
The Polish Presidency is a perfect occasion to promote our Polish cuisine. One of
the most highly appreciated Polish chefs, Adam Chrząstowski, controls the creation
of an exquisite menu with Polish dishes, that are based on indigenous products, for
the top level meetings in Poland and Brussels.
Abroad delegations together with the reporters visiting Poland during the Presidency
additionally receive the set of Polish cuisine recipes, designed in a modern style by
16 chefs, the three of which foreigners, that commonly work for the best Polish
restaurants. The starting point for every recipe is the product commonly associated
with the Polish cuisine (e.g. herring, cucumber, groats, poppy seeds, venison). Each
recipe precedes the product's description with its cultural context that is
understandable for a foreign consumer. A similar publication is rendered more
attractive with modern illustrations.
