FEBRUARY 17, 2017 CLUB CHARTERED 1924 NO. 5169 DISTRICT 7280

We started the meeting with a prayer by Tom Grant, and the

Pledge of Allegiance.

Just north of Zelienople on Route 19, partners Bill Hahn and Paul Vorbach

(below, left) are running two integrated and innovative companies – one in classic car restoration and the other in 3D printing to produce needed, hard-to-find parts and more.

Paul Vorbach told club members on Friday about Hahn-Vorbach & Associates LLC and their automotive restoration work. The company has worked on high-end classics like a 1938 HRG Airline Coupe, recently shown at an automotive museum, and a $1.5 million 1956 Mercedes Benz 300 SL “Gullwing.” They also work on many classic American cars.

They ventured into 3D printing, and formed the company HV3D Works LLC, when they could not find needed parts for the cars they were restoring. Paul described the many elements involved in this new technology. They do not have a 3D printer on site, but they have the

expertise to scan and produce the drawings needed to produce through 3D printing. Paul suggested other applications that they could help bring from an idea to reality – in different business and other sectors.

Anne and dad Bob Castagnero huddle together while Neal and his guest, Paul Vorbach, do not.

SVMS administration and teachers. Anne has kept a 4.0 GPA through 8th grade, as well as during her 7th grade year. In addition to excelling in academics, she is involved in many extracurricular activities including sports, drama and Girl Scouts. She is active in helping the community by volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, being an alter server at St. Ferdinand’s Church and serving as a junior camp counselor at Camp G.

A number of glowing words from Annie’s teachers were included in the presentation. Here are some:

“Annie is doing a fantastic independent scenario project. In keeping with the theme for National History Day, ‘Taking a Stand,’ she is showing how the musical Hamilton takes a stand against how history has been taught and presented, that the musical encourages us to look beyond “textbook history.” She plans to share her work at National History Day. LOVE HER!!!!” -Mrs. Loewy- Purpose/Gifted Support Teacher

“Annie is a student who stuck out right at the beginning of 7th grade. She is such a positive force to those around her and is a quiet, humble leader. Her inspiring attitude is contagious and has caught on to her classmates. I’ve never had a 1st pd. Chorus class so alert and excited to make music every morning. I believe that Annie is a true motivator of that. I can’t think of a better student to receive this honor. She is an inspiration.” -Mrs. Barker-Chorus Teacher

“Annie is a well-rounded young lady. She not only gets A’s in science, but participates in class, asks great questions, and is curious about how things work.” -Mrs. Wilson-Science Teacher

“She’s a natural leader and leads class discussions. Rare ability to bring out the best in the people around her, including the teacher.” -Mr. O’Shea-Civics Teacher

Anne spoke to the club from the podium (right, with Tom Grant). “Thank you very much for recognizing me” she said. She told the club that there were many other students very deserving of recognition and she was very humbled by the honor.

Anne’s father, Robert Castagnero, joined her at the Rotary Breakfast.

Rotary member Beth Marshall made the arrangements with SVMS to have Anne selected for this award.

Then, later in the year, Rotarians from our district can travel to Slovakia and Hungary. If interested, contact Assistant Governor Ken Fleeson or Ron for more information.

Jeff announced we need area businesses and organizations to buy ads for our 2017 Sponsor Boards. Ads cost $100 each.
