8.1 IntroductionThis optional lab will help the student understand how setup iSCSI on the ZFS Storage Appliance

as well as create and map iSCSI LUNs to hosts.

8.2 Pre-RequisitesThis optional lab requires that the student have an iSCSI initiator setup on their local system in

order to access the ZFS Storage Appliance simulator. This will provide the student with the steps

for setting up the iSCSI initiator in a Microsoft Windows 7 desktop.

8.3 Setting Up iSCSI on the ZFS Storage Appliance.

    1. Navigate to the “Configuration/Services” tab and verify that the iSCSI data service has been

    enabled.

    2. Click Navigate to the “Configuration/Network” tab and setup a datalink and interface for

    iSCSI.

    3. In this example a data link called “iSCSI” was created using the “e1g10001” device. An

interface called “iSCSI-Interface” was created with a static IP address of 192.168.56.105/24.

Note: If there is only one device listed on the ZFS Storage Appliance simulator then this can

be used for iSCSI and these steps can be skipped.

    4. Click Navigate to the “Configuration/SAN” tab to setup the iSCSI Targets.

    5. Select “iSCSI Targets” and click the “+” to add

    6. Provide the new iSCSI target with an Alias and select th “e1000g1” interface or whichever

    interface is listed.

    7. Click “OK”.

    8. The new iSCSI target will be listed.

    9.  At this point any iSCSI LUN created will be presented to all hosts so to discourage this create

    an iSCSI Target Group.

    10. Click on the cross hair located in front of the iSCSI Target and drag it to the “iSCSI Target

Groups”, which will create a group for the iSCSI Target.

    3. Give the LUN a Name and Size. In this example the name is “iSCSI-LUN” with a size

    of 5 GB.

Note: If you are using the ZFS Storage Appliance simulator give the LUN a small size

between 1 and 5 GB as it this is running on the local desktop and will use up the

    space on the desktop.

    4. Click “Apply”.

    5. The LUN is now listed in the LUNs list.
