8.1 three steps to a great party look
1. The basis for any great makeup is great skin. Taking good care of your skin every day and using a good face moisturiser makes it easier to apply a beautiful makeup. Apply a face moisturi-ser just before applying your makeup – this will make it look nicer and last longer.
2. Use little, but festive makeup. If your are in a hurry, focus on one thing to draw attention. For example a great colour for your eyes, bright coloured lips, or glittering nails. Let the colours of your makeup match your outfit to make your look extraordinarily consistent.
3. Spend time on your hair. Beautiful, well-groomed hair is the fastest way to look ‘party-licious’. It does not have to be over-styled, piled high and curly – but you should wash and blow-dry it. Add a few drops of oil to the ends to make your hair look shiny and healthy, and finish with hair spray.32

at Zizzi we know that women with curves often face a challenge when buying clothes to fit their individual body shape. Curvy women aRe very different. Therefore, Zizzi now introduces five new body shapes to make it easier for you to find clothes that enhance the good curves.
The five body shapes are based on the ratio between breast, waist, and hip measu-rements. irrespective of the size of your hip, your hip measurement will be the
norm. your shape then depends on the size of your bosom and waist in relation to your hips. as you will see from the table below, the curve shape is Zizzi’s normal shape.
Help in the storeZizzi’s sales assistants have always assi-sted customers in finding clothes that fit their individual shapes. but it is also nice for you to know which types of clothes benefit your figure and make it look great
– and not least what you should be careful about. Concider where the clothes fit tightly and where they fit loosely. where they are short, and where they are long. and it is very much a question about colours, designs, and prints. This is why Zizzi’s collection includes a huge variety of colours – because some women need to draw attention to the upper part of their body whereas others will want to draw attention downwards.
Avoid frustrationsKnowing your own body shape and what fits you well may also help you to avoid the fru-stration that most women know when we see a dress on a friend which makes her look gorgeous – and then find out that it does nothing whatsoever for you. The reason could very well be that she has a different body shape – meaning that even though both of you are curvy women, it is far from certain that you can share all kinds of clo-thes.

if you are a drop shape, you should draw focus to your bosom, shoulders, and waist. Therefore it is a good idea to go for a dark pant that does not attract too much attention. your top must meet the bottom either above or below the broadest part of your hip – never in the middle of your hip!
EVERYDAYThe leather jacket is cut above the hip. Combined with the tight jeans (that do not add volume) it creates a fine, harmo-nious look. The light blouse is also cut above the hip, and the colour moves focus upwards.
pARtYThe dark leggings are elegant and party-like – but also discreet. Louise uses a broad neckline and a multi-row necklace to move focus and create har-mony in her look. The long lines on the sides of the leggings add nicely to her height and length.

The American fashion model Denise Bidot, whom you will see on the cover of this issue of Zizzi Magazine, has achieved what most girls hardly dare to dream about. she is a successful and well paid model in new York City with so many job offers that she can pick and choose as she pleases. And it is not because she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth – or because she is one of those perfect people who automa-tically succeed in everything they do.
‘i am not perfect, but i believe in myself, and i am sure that makes a great difference.
You do not have to look a certain way to be able to travel the world and have an exci-ting life. i am proof of that. My family is not extraordinarily privileged. i moved out of home when i was 18 years old, and i created what i have and what i stand for. But i worked hard for everything’, says the 26-year-old model on the phone from new York where she lives with her 4-year-old daughter Jocelyn who is making noises in the background during the interview – or rather laughing and having fun. Clearly, Jocelyn has inherited the sunny disposi-tion of her mother.
‘Happy is something you choose to be. Happiness comes from inside. Life gives you lots of challenges, but it is entirely up to you to decide whether they contribute to your happiness or not. From the moment i wake up in the morning i feel happy and grateful for being fit and healthy and having a good life. to me there are no other opti-

– it is like therapy to me. Just liste-ning to a certain song makes make my spirits rise. Films have the same effect on me, they can take me to a whole new world. Dancing also puts me in a really good mood, so I dance a lot.’

expect you to do right now. Just being silly will automatically change your mood.’
7 ‘And remember: If something does not work for you, move
on fast and try something else instead.’

From makeup artist to fashion modelDenise Bidot has been a fashion model for 7 years. she was born and bred in Florida by parents from Puerto Rico and Kuwait, respectively. Already as a child she dreamt about becoming an actress, and therefore she moved to Los Angeles when she was 18 years old. However, as the roles were a long time coming, Denise decided to train as a makeup artist – a decisive career choice which by chance led her into fashion one day when she was applying makeup on a plus size model.
‘that was when the photographer asked me if i too wanted a couple of photos taken. the photographer put the photos on the internet, and they were soon discovered. i was simply fortunate enough to be at the right time and place.’

Until then, Denise had had trouble fin-ding clothes in which she felt comfortable. But the fashion world taught her to appre-ciate her body and gave her self-confidence to show it off. Later, Denise moved to new York since this was where all the jobs were anyway.
Like an adventure‘it is an exciting line of business which offers something new every single day. every single photo session is almost like and adventure’, says Denise Bidot, who over the past four years has come to work for more and more european fashion houses.
even though Denise describes herself as a workaholic, she does everything she can to spend as much time with her daughter as possible.
‘i am so privileged that i can choose to accept or opt out of jobs. typically, i work three weeks and then take a full week off so that i spend lots of time with Jocelyn. sometimes i bring her with me when i am working. some of my regular customers find this is so enjoyable that they ask me if i could bring my daughter on the next photo session. it brings out a slightly diffe-rent energy. suddenly, there is singing and dancing in the studio.’
The Danes are sweetWe are on the phone with Denise a few days before she is leaving for Denmark again to shoot a new fashion series as a model for Zizzi.
‘each time i have been to Denmark has been a great experience. At one point i was there with a colleague who had been to the country a couple of times before and there-fore spoke a few words of the language. People in Denmark are always really nice to me’, says Denise Bidot.
so far, Denise has worked three times as a model for Zizzi. A job she appreciates particularly much as she is genuinely ent-
husiastic about Zizzi’s collections.‘Zizzi’s clothes are much smarter than
anything you can find here in the UsA. Among other things, i have several pairs of Zizzi jeans that look both sexy and cool on me – but one pair in particular catches people’s attention. they always ask me where i got them, so i hope that some day Zizzi will come to the UsA.’
Ready for TVAs a matter of fact, Denise had already noticed Zizzi a year before she was hired as a model for the company.
‘especially, Zizzi’s fashion series caught my attention. Here in the UsA, fashion companies never put as much effort in the photo shoots as Zizzi does. When i saw
some of Zizzi’s campaigns i just thought that i would really like to be friends with the model’, she laughs.
Denise can easily imagine continuing to work as a model for a long time to come. But in that case she will probably combine modelling with something else. Her wish list also includes a dream about hosting a tV show. As a matter of fact, Denise actually did participate in an American tV show the month after our interview with her.
‘every five years i make plans for myself, establishing targets for things i want to achieve. My targets must be realistic, so i really believe in them. Furthermore, the most important thing is to remember to laugh every day – and above all – not to take yourself or life too seriously.’

1 three steps to a everyDay makeupIf you are busy, focus on skin care instead of makeup. You could replace or even supplement your day cream with a BB cream which works as a light foundation and gives your skin a slight glow.
Everyday makeup has to be easy. A product for your skin, cheeks and eyes - and a little shimmer will get you a long way. Have a small handful of products ready so you will not have to spend time rummaging through piles of products to look for your mascara.
Spend money on a good shampoo and conditioner to give your hair a good basis on busy days – and add a little hair oil for a shiny look. No styling needed – your hair will look lustrous and well-groomed.32

Get your home ready for pre-partyUnless you have a genuine ‘bath parlour’, it is a good idea to move the pre-party to the living room. This way you will have everything in one room – makeup, clothing, music, drinks, and snacks.• Clear the floor to make

• Set up mirrors around the dining table so you can apply makeup and check your look.
• Be sure to have a good light for the makeup mirrors.

Charmingly shaggyCarey Mulligan proves that you can easily make a party look even if you have short hair. This hair style is also perfect while you are waiting for your fringes to grow longer.
1 prepare your hair as described on page 69 under 'Strong ringlets'.2 Start by styling hair into strands. rub a dry wax thoroughly in your hands and work into the base of your hair. then pull at little strands of hair working the remainders of the wax into the strands. It is important to apply a minimum of wax to the hair ends as they are very thin. Most people start by working wax into the hair ends which will make the styling fall.3 take two hair strands from your bangs and tie each of them into an itsy-bitsy braid, herring-bone style. the trick is to keep tying itsy-bitsy strands of hair into the braid. you can find an instruction video on youtube, demonstrating the technique. Secure the braids with little hair pins under the top hair.4 If you want to be able to run your hands through your hair throughout the night, you are done. If not, you could add hairspray.
relaxed glamourEmma Stone’s organic bun was a hit with her vintage-inspired gala dress, and it is perfect if you have fringes.
1 prepare your hair as described on page 69 under 'Strong ringlets'.2 Make a parting from ear to ear over the top of your head. pull the hair behind the parting into a loose ponytail 2-3 cm above your hairline in the back.3 plait the ponytail loosely, and ‘lock’ it with a hair elastic at the end. pull at random strands of hair in the braid to make it look frayed.4 twist the braid, curling it into a bun. then secure it with little hair pins till you are satisfied with the shape of the bun and it is properly secured.5 Now pull back the side strands, making sure that they cover the sides nicely. twist the ends around the base of the bun to hide the hair elastic and secure the ends with little hair pins. Finish with hair spray – consider using a fiber hair spray (Liva recommends: Membrane Gas from Fudge.)

edgy ponytailKate Winslet is not just into romantic hairstyles. Here she has a cool, high ponytail and a backcombed top which will look great if your are not that tall.
1 prepare your hair as described on page 69 under 'Strong ringlets'.2 Section off a triangle of hair from temple to temple towards a third angle at the top of your head. tie the rest of your hair into a tight ponytail just behind the angle on top of your head.3 Backcomb the base of the whole triangle of hair, pull it back and separate into two sections. Make the two sec-tions cross and wind them around the base of the ponytail to hide the hair elastic. Secure ends with hairpins by faste-ning them to the hair elastic.4 Finish with hairspray.

ClassiC beaChhairJennifer Aniston’s beach hair with wavy hair ends and a casual look gives you an easy-going look, which even allows you to let your coloured hair grow out.
1 Spray your hair with a heat protection hairspray (Liva recommends: Satinwear 02 from redken) and blow-dry with a hairdryer.2 divide your hair into four parts like a flag – two in front and two in the back around a middle parting. and remember to twist the curls towards the middle parting in order to make them curl in different directions.3 then make soft waves with your flat iron. the trick is to hold the iron as if holding a throttle. Grab a strand of hair – consider adding a little heat protection hairspray – open the iron, squeeze the strand and turn your wrist half a turn as if speeding up with a throttle. If your hair does not curl easily, twist your wrist a full turn to make the curls more bouncy. Holding the iron horizontally will result in a very curly style – hold the iron relatively vertically to get long soft wavy curls.4 add a little hold by using a saltwater hairspray (Liva recommends: Surf Spray, Bumble and bumble). Stretch your arm and spray your hair very slightly.
Cosmo With a tWistThe traditional Cosmopolitan is made with cranberries and therefore pink. Here we have made a Nordic version with gooseberry juice which gives a delicate champagne colour.
1 cocktail:4 cl lemon vodka 2 cl Contreau2 cl fresh lime juice6 cl gooseberry juice (buy it at www.bornholmskevarer.dk) 1 small slice of lime peel (from an organic lime)
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail-shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled martini-glass. Set the lime slice on fire, leave to burn very briefly, and add to the cocktail.

1 the base of the ringletsIt is not enough to style your hair according to every rule of the game, spraying it with half a can of hairspray and then expect it to last all night. you need to prepare your hair. apply a styling product (Liva recommends: texture from Bumble and bumble) and blow-dry with your hairdryer. texture adds a rougher texture to your hair and gives it a better ‘grip’. Furthermore, additional hair products will stick more effectively to your hair.2 drop the idea of ‘day-old’ hairthe assertion that it is easier to style hair that is not freshly washed is a tall story. the many available texture sprays will give you the right texture and help you avoid an oily scalp.3 remember that coat by coat is better than one thick coat. When you spray your hair, do so in several thin coats, allowing hair do dry between each coat. this will keep you from over-spraying your hair, and the hairspray will stick more effectively.4 If you reckon you might not wake up in your own bed, always remember to put a hair elastic in your handbag. When you wake up, moisten your fringes a little to even out messy bed hair and tie your hair into a loose bun – and your are ready to face the world again.
Get a LoNG-LastiNG LooKHere are the special products and crafty techniques that will make your makeup last all night on the dance floor.
primerA primer is your best friend on the dance floor. It gives your makeup a proper foundation to make it last bet-ter and longer. You can get primers both for your skin (our favourite: Prep + Prime Skin from MAC) and for your eyes (our favourite: Photo Lid Primer from Smashbox).Apply them to your skin, blend thoroughly, leave to sit before applying makeup.
Waterproof eyelinerPanda eyes. You know them when you check yourself in the mirror after the first five dances. Sweat is the worst enemy of the eyeliner, but a waterproof eyeliner will give you a perfect eye-makeup all night. Fluid eyeliner is always a hit, but it takes great precision. Unless you have a very steady hand, we recommend Velvet Touch Eyeliner Waterproof from Gosh
Crème blushWhen your feel hot and move a lot, use a crème blush to colour your cheeks as the creamy texture is long-lasting . A good suggestion is Cremeblend Blush from MAC. It is also easy to bring in your handbag.
Lipstick-trickThe first thing to go on a party night is your lipstick. Drinks, kisses, snacks – all wearing the colour. Luckily, there are five easy steps to long-lasting colour:1 Make sure you have no lip balm
on your lips when you apply lipstick.2 Apply on coat of lipstick and kiss
a tissue. 3 Now you need to ‘fill’ the colour.
Separate the sheets of a paper tis-sue. Press one of the thin sheets against your lips and dab a little tran-slucent powder onto the tissue. This will prevent the powder from clum-ping in the lipstick.4 Apply a second coat of lipstick.5 Finish by pressing your lips around
your index finger and pull it out. The lipstick on your finger could have colou-red your teeth.

a Good sNaCKIt is a good idea to serve a few snacks. Not because you should be eating a full dinner, but because this way you will fortify yourselves against the alcohol throughout the night.
mediterranean stylePut out a cutting board with your favourite cheese, salami, a little prosciutto and whole-meal bread. Remember olives, semi-dried tomatoes, and a clas-sic pesto.
asian sensationBuy small spring rolls, serve hot with sweet chili-sauce. Put chicken bites on skewers, glaze with a little Thai-curry paste, fry, and serve with peanut sauce from your Asian grocer.
easy and quick snacksSalt roasted almonds are delicious and very easy to make. The easy way is to buy skinned almonds and just turn them over in a little salt. Put them in the oven at 150 degrees
celsius and bake them for about 10 minutes or until the lightly brown. They should be just a bit golden.
