The development of medicine, the improve-

ment of patients’ awareness and progressive de-

mographic changes cause a rapid increase in the

needs reported to the healthcare system. The ef-

fect of this is the constantly growing expense on

health care - both in the public and private sec-

tors. The progress of medical technologies and ap-

pear of innovative drugs, on the one hand open

up new treatment options, and on the other, they

generate higher costs. This is why it is so impor-

tant to constantly search for new ways to improve

management of existing health resources and also

to use the funds in a more efficient way.

Economic efficiency in health care is one of the

basic elements of shaping the state health policy,

effective management of the health care system

and, as a result, improving the patients’ sense of

health safety.

The Health Care Forum for over 8 years enables

the exchange of experiences and the presentation of new management ideas for constantly- it seems -

insufficient funds for the health care system. It is attended by experts, doctors, businessmen, representa-

tives of the government and international institutions as well as local self-government units dealing

with health protection. Forum debates facilitate a holistic view of health care and allow to look for sys-

temic and detailed solutions regarding detailed specializations or organizational units. I am convinced

that effect of this debates will improve the efficiency of the health care system and improve the health

of the whole society.

Media about the Healthcare Forum

If and when Poland will see the document “Drug policy of the state”? Is such a document enough to be able to state that, on the one hand the state has a well-thought-out strategy in the area of drug policy, and on the other - that patients feel that in case of serious illness, they can count on modern, reimbursed treatment? The Ministry of Health, is working on “Drug policy of the state”, says Marcin Czech, soon after he’s appointment to the post of deputy minister. The assumptions of his own report, at the panel devoted to drug policy, were presented in Krynica by the Institute for Health Protection.

The Healthcare Forum is an inseparable element of the Economic Forum, which this year the Institute for Eastern Studies will organize for the 28th time. The Forum allows a broader look at the healthcare system, both nationally and locally. It also allows searching for solutions for particular specializations and organizational units.

The governmental Strategy for Responsible Development was the reference point for many dis-cussions about the economy. Experts and politicians agreed that the next step after its formula-tion should be proposals for actions for individual sectors of the economy, including healthcare.

Healthcare providers and managers should focus on efficiency so that money is not wasted. We should also increase financial resources by increasing public health expenditure. I see that the government has started to think about it realistically. I hear from many places that this subject is discussed not only in the Ministry of Health, but also in the Ministry of Finance and Develop-ment - said Anna Rulkiewicz, the president of Lux Med, during the Healthcare Forum in 2017.
