Candidates should possess the minimun qualifica~tion of the General Certificate of Education (in whicha Pass in English and in Latin or Arabic must.becertified) in order to satisfy the requirements: ofRegulation 1 of the Consolidated Regulations! ofthe Inns of Court. In exceptional circumstancesconsideration may be given to persons holdinglesserqualifications provided that approval thereto i isobtained from the Masters of the Bench of the Inn ofCourt to which the candidate is seeking admission.

"All candidates must be able to show evidence ofability, energy, integrity, responsibility and a highstandard of English Language. z

Those selected will undertake a course of approxi-mately 12 months duration commencing on or about1st August at the Institute of Administration, Zaria,where instruction will be given in English, Constitu-tional Law and Legal History, Criminal Law, the

. Law of Contract and Tort and in Roman Law,to thestandard requiredin the preliminary examinations ofthe Bar Council. Arrangements willbe made forcandidates to sit’ these examinations in NorthernNigeria during the course. Successful candidates-will be considered for further training in the United

ingdom for the professional qualification ofBarrister-at-Law.. .

If at any time it becomes apparent that a candidateis not likely to reach the required standardhe will beso informed by the Public Service Commission andconsideration will be given to alternative employ-ment according to his qualifications if he so desires it.

Upon the attainment of the qualification ofBarrister-at-Law and upon completion of any furthertraining required by the Public Service Commission,

- successful candidates will be eligible for appointmentas Pupil Crown Counsel or Associate Magistratesin the Public Service of the Northern Nigeria and

bye-laws 2 and 3 of the Lagos Market Bye-Lawsand bye-law 4 of the Lagos Meat Bye-Laws, theLagos Town Council has fixed the following fees,tolls and stallages:inrelation to all markets in the‘Town with effect frorn 1st April, 1961.

Applications are invited from suitably qualifiedcandidates for the post of Senior Valuation Officerin the Valuation Division, Ministry of Lagos Affairs.

Qualifications—Candidates must be Associates ofthe Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors -(Valuation Subdivision) or Associates of theChartered Auctioneers and Estate Agents Institute.They must have had not less than four years’ pastqualification experience in rating valuation work.

Duties.—Theofficer appointed willbe required toundertake the valuation ofall types of property forrating and other purposes, and to value rateableplant. He will be responsible tothe PrincipalValuation Officer for the supervisionand co-ordina-tion of all the professional and technical workinvolved in the revaluation of Lagos. He will.beresponsible for thetraining of new men. He willbe required to appear at hearings of the ValuationCourt.

Scale of salary——-Group 9—£1,728 plus £300inducementaddition where applicable. Ten per centcontract addition is payable if the appointment ismade on contract.

Other conditions of service.—(i) Appointment maybe on pensionable or contract terms ; in the case of a

" new entrant to Government Service, a pensionableappointment will be on probation for three years.
