Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz belongs to the district Chakwal. He completed his schooling at Aitchison College. He graduated from the University of Florida and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer & Information Systems. He belongs to a Nobel and renowned family of the district Chakwal. His family is famous for their political services and philanthropy.
Soon after assuming the of�ice of Minister for Higher Education, he introduced new measures and reforms to improve the quality of Higher Education in the province of Punjab. He used a top-down approach to implement his agenda of reforms by appointing heads of institutions on merit and empowering them to bring positive changes for the betterment of the institutions.
To improve the examination system, he gave a 10-year roadmap on which work started. At the �irst step, relative grading was introduced. The prime objective is to discourage rote learning and to develop an examination system based on the evaluation of creativity, critical thinking, comprehension and logical problem-solving skills of the students.
The prime focus of Secretary Higher Education, Mr. Nadeem Mahmoob, is t h e d i s s e m i n a t i o n o f q u a l i t y education in the province of Punjab. He started departmental reforms for t r a n s p a r e n c y a n d i m p r o v e d governance. He initiated the process of digitalization to improve the quality of services, it is aimed at ensuring transparency in the system as well as eradication of red-tapism. He took special interest in developing the infrastructure of One Window Operation and provision of online services in all the Boards of the Punjab to facilitate the students and the public. It is a great service indeed.

I believe in hard work and always encourage teamwork. The up-lift of this Board is our prime objective. We are working tirelessly to achieve this objective. One of our priorities is the infrastructure development and capacity building of this Board. For this purpose, many projects are completed like the renovation of the Facilitation Centre, conference room and General Branch. A massive plantation campaign was launched and completed successfully. We are also planning to initiate many new projects of infrastructure development of this Board to ful�ill the growing needs of the future. Moreover, we have revolutionized the merit-based promotions of the employees and promoted the culture of meritocracy and transparency. We have upgraded the service delivery mechanism to facilitate the students and the public. To achieve this goal, we are near to digitalize the whole system. We have made most of our services online to facilitate the public. This has changed the public opinion towards the Board because now people feel comfortable in getting services from the Board. Now one can pay his dues through online banking systems like Internet Banking and mobile app. Our main agenda is the welfare of our employees and the growth of this Board. We are committed to achieve the desired goals with hard work and consistency.

A magni�icent ceremony was held at President’s House to acknowledge the excellence of position holders in the higher secondary school certi�icate.
Dr. Tariq Mehmood Qazi, Chairman BISE, Gujranwala participated in this ceremony. The student Ayesha Safdar was the high achiever of the HSSC Examination 2020 of BISE Gujranwala. Dr. Arif Alvi, President of Pakistan was the chief guest. He urged the youth to gain skill-based education, adopt new technologies and develop analytical skills to make good decisions and achieve progress in life. He congratulated the position holders of the HSSC Examination 2020. He also reiterated that recognizing the achievements of the brilliant students would encourage others to set a path for themselves and move ahead. He also emphasized the importance of education and said real education is the ability to process acquired information, develop analytical and logical thinking make good decisions, and draw conclusions.
Talking about emerging �ields of arti�icial intelligence (AI) and neural networks, he noted that the human brain was amazing with its 100 billion neurons and 100 trillion connections and one could increase their brain’s capacity by indulging in mental exercises the way physical exercise is done to strengthen the human body.

National Competitions for Students, Boys & Girls at HSSC Level
The Federal Minister for Education & Professional Training, Shafqat Mehmood has desired to organize academic competitions for National cohesion. For the conduct of academic competitions, the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) proposed that the competitions will be arranged in groups comprising of 4-5 Boards at regional level. In each region, a university will host the competitions.
The competitions were held in Qirat, Naat, Urdu Debate and National Song. The Gujranwala Board was included in Region IV along with BISE Lahore, PBTE Lahore and BISE Faisalabad. The regional organizer was the Chairman of BISE, Lahore.In the � irst stage , divis ional level competitions were organized at BISE Gujranwala. A large number of students participated in these events. The students were happy to participate in these competitions.

IBCC Inter Board Regional Competition 2021
T h e w i n n e r s o f t h e d iv i s i o n a l l e ve l competitions participated in the regional level competitions. This IBCC Inter Board Regional Competition 2021 for region IV was held on 22nd February 2021 at Al Raazi Hall University of the Punjab, Lahore. In region IV BISE Gujranwala, BISE Lahore, PBTE Lahore and BISE Faisalabad participated.
The BISE, Gujranwala win two positions in these competitions. Tayyab Rehman got the �irst position in Naat and quali�ied for national competitions. Mehwish got the �irst position in the national song. She also quali�ied for national-level competitions.

The Federal Minister for Maritime Syed Ali Haider Zaidi visited BISE, Gujranwala. He was accompanied by Usman Saeed Basra (Spokes Person Govt. of Punjab). The Federal Minister inaugurated the Queue Management System at One Window Operation. Dr. Tariq Mehmood Qazi, Chairman BISE, Gujranwala briefed the Minister about the working of the one-window operation and the reforms he introduced at One Window Operation to speed up its service delivery system.

Spring Plantation Campaign 2021
Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the countrywide spring plantation drive and urged the whole nation to join it for their children’s future. The current government has always held environmental protection as one of its priorities.
The events of the last two years namely the heavy smog which blankets the major cities of Punjab causing many health and hazardous defects. Such events have convinced the authorities of environmental reforms. The countrywide billion tree Tsunami drive, “Plant for Pakistan” has been a response to the increasingly worse pollution in Pakistan.
Following the footsteps of the National leadership and to contribute to this National cause, the Chairman BISE, Gujranwala Dr. Tariq Mehmood Qazi invited S.A Hameed, Chairman PHA, Gujranwala to start the spring tree plantation campaign at BISE, Gujranwala. Mr. S.A. Hameed Chairman PHA, Gujranwala planted a tree in front of the main building during rain. The Chairman Dr. Tariq Mehmood Qazi and his team were also present during the tree plantation ceremony.

COVID-19 vaccination camp at BISE, Gujranwala
On the direction of the Chairman Dr. Tariq Mehmood Qazi, Secretary Board Prof. Gohar Altaf with the coordination of Health Department district Gujranwala arranged a vaccination camp at BISE, Gujranwala.
The Board employees received the �irst dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The Chairman visited the camp and highlighted the importance of vaccination. He also encouraged the employees to receive the vaccination.

Now, the Gujranwala Board has a beautiful facilitation center equipped with maximum facilities for the visitors. Moreover, it is too easy for students and institutions to receive different sorts of services from Gujranwala Board through online service delivery mechanism at their door-step. The chairman took special interest and himself supervised this whole project.
