Introduction

The main goal of documentation and standardization of ethnomedicinal formulation is to discover and

authenticate the formulations used in indigenous and folklore medical systems. This can be employed in the

development of new pharmaceuticals. In India and throughout the world the tribal and forest dwellers have

their unique ethnomedicinal practices and beliefs. Similarly the inhabitants of Chhattisgarh have also

developed their own ethnomedicine and practiced it since ages. Because of its dense forests and natural

resources including some rare species of medicinal plants Chhattisgarh has been declared as Herbal State.

All these and a few other matters were discussed by eminent speakers. The seminar was beneficial for the

students (UG & PG), research scholars & faculty members willing to explore the wonders of ethnomedicine,

and this will promote well defined and focused research in this field.
