By the Grace of Allah, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community worldwide continues to make great strides in allareas. After busy years of the Association celebrating its first centenary since its establishment in the UK lastyear and the worldwide Jama’at (community) celebrating its 125th Anniversary, we should reflect on exactlyhow much has been achieved since it was founded by the Promised Messiah(as) in 1889. From a few membersin a remote village in India, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has now spread to over 200 countries. This isall by the sheer Grace and Mercy of Allah Who has blessed this Community with the institution of Khilafat –a divinely guided institution rooted in the true teachings of Islam and the precepts set by the Holy Prophet ofIslam(saw). In his recent sermon of 22nd May 2015, the Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community,(His Holiness) Huzur Aqdas(aba) said that:

“.. members of our Jama’at should pledge that they have to work for the cause of faith. Every adversity willturn into comfort for us and we will feel delight in our work. Indeed, we will be faced with difficulties butto march onwards and upwards is the tradition of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be onhim). It is the task of Ahmadiyya Jama’at to take the message of One God to the world and bring it in thesphere of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). It is a tremendous task and can onlybe done with God’s help and support. None of our tasks are accomplished without Divine help.....Thepledge that Hazrat Musleh Maud (Khalifatul Masih II, may Allah be pleased with him) made by the sideof his blessed father’s body should be the pledge of each one of us. We should indeed pledge to remaindistant from associating partners with Allah, try our utmost for accomplishing the mission of the PromisedMessiah (on whom be peace) and fulfil the pledge of holding aloft the banner of the Holy Prophet (peaceand blessings of Allah be on him).

Today, one of the big challenges that the Muslim world is experiencing is the emergence and growth of ISIS, anorganisation having far reaching implications throughout the world, besides the terror it is spreading in theMiddle East, Africa and Asia. The West too has felt its impact with the murder of 13 journalists in the CharlieHebdo offices in Paris on 7th January. Huzur Aqdas(aba) delivered a Friday sermon condemning the atrocityand presenting the true teachings of Islam on this subject. Soon after, he gave a very lengthy interview to theLBC radio station in London, featured as breaking news on the radio station, repeated in all their newscaststhroughout the day and attracting a record number of tweets in support of Huzur Aqdas’s(aba) comments. We are pleased to present extracts from the Annual Report for the yearended 30th June 2015 that was delivered by mr Rafiq Ahmed hayat,Amir (national President) of the Ahmadiyya muslim Association uK(the ‘Association’), at the annual general assembly of the elected anddesignated members of the 36th majlis shura (consultative body) uKheld in Baitul Futuh mosque, morden, between 6th and 7th June 2015

members of the Association including myself were able to takepart in the debate surrounding the Paris attacks and we receivedgood coverage on Sky, BBC, LBC, Russian TV along withnational, regional and local press. Unfortunately, this situationis growing worse by the day. We should pray that Allah guidesthe misguided so-called Muslims who are involved with thesecriminal activities and who are giving Islam a bad name. TheAssociation will continue to be a strong voice in condemningsuch atrocities and portraying the true peaceful message ofIslam throughout the world.

The Association has continued to grow each year and we havehad growth through natural progression and also through somemigration. We also continue to have some people coming from Pakistan where conditions continue todeteriorate in general especially for Ahmadis. I am pleased to report the UK government has continued to besympathetic and generally asylum is granted in most cases. Huzur Aqdas(aba) has always cautioned members tobe honest and speak the truth.

The London region has seen the largest re-organisation of the Association this year. We have created 20 newbranches which now makes 50 branches in London. London Region has been divided into two regions withthe appointments of Dr Mujibul Haq Khan and Mr Naseer Dean as Regional Amirs of London A and LondonB respectively. Further divisions have also been made in Midlands Region where two additional branches werecreated. We have tried to keep an optimum number of 200-300 members per branch.

Under Huzur’s Aqdas(aba) direction, Imam Sahib consulted all local Secretary Tarbiyat and has come up witha very comprehensive Tarbiyat plan for the UK Jama’at. It is of the utmost importance that this plan isimplemented immediately throughout the UK and regular progress reports submitted to the Centre. In orderto reform, train and prepare our youth to face the challenges of the world, we need to have more Mosques andMission houses close to each and every Jama’at. I am pleased to report that we have made good progress on thesite in Leicester and shall start on Walsall where we hope to have completion next year. We also have beenfortunate to have acquired a site in Liverpool and are negotiating on sites in Dundee and Spen Valley. We havealso achieved planning permission for the site in Southall. Whilst it is a bigger challenge in London, due to thehigh cost, we did, however, make offers for sites in Mitcham and Roehampton subject to change of use to D1,but the seller eventually sold the properties to developers. We have also acquired a residential property adjacentto our mosque in Scunthorpe which allows us a larger footprint and residential place for a missionary and the

potential for construction of a purpose built Mosque. The most important inauguration this year was that ofMaryam mosque in Galway, Ireland. Ireland now reports direct to the Centre, although the search for thismosque started when Ireland was part of the Association.

Our Jamia (academy for theosophical and modern languages studies and training of missionaries) is producingmissionaries 6 of whom were allocated to the UK: two assigned to London, one each to Croydon, Oxford,Watford and East Region. The new missionaries are making a big difference in Tabligh (preaching andpropagation) and Tarbiyat (spiritual and moral training and reformation) wherever they are allocated. We wouldlike to congratulate the principle of Jamia – Mr Mirza Nasir Inam Ahmad and his team for their excellent workon behalf of the Association.

Rather than just targeting the national press, we started targeting the local media in print, radio and TV throughthe local branches this year. Our message is getting to a large number of people in the country: we put full pagesummaries of Huzur Aqdas’s(aba) addresses, for instance, the address at the Conference of World Religions whichtook place in the London Guildhall and the Charlie Hebdo affair in local newspapers. The first campaign causedan issue in Luton where the Luton On Sunday newspaper published our article on the 2nd page which resultedin complaints by some local Muslims resulting in the Editor apologising to them. A delegation of our seniormembers met the editor and he was very apologetic and explained that they had made a technical mistake whichrequired an apology but re-assured us that he fully supported the Association’s viewpoint and agreed to publisha letter from us clarifying this matter. As a result, a peace conference was arranged in Luton to reach out to thelocal community with our message of peace and harmony. In October, the Radio 4 ‘Any Questions’ event washeld at the Bradford Al-Mahdi Mosque with Jonathan Dimbleby. This is the second time this programme hasbeen held in one of our mosques, the first being held at Baitul Futuh Mosque.

Each year we see the demise of many respected members of our Jama’at, may Allahgrant them a lofty status in paradise and grant solace to their families. One veryimportant person who passed away had a very long connection with the Association– Dr Maulvi Abdul Wahab bin Adam (photo right)– a former Deputy Imam of theLondon Mosque, first chairman of the Study Circle, the first African Amir who servedfor 39 years in Ghana. On 7th September, the Pan African Ahmadiyya MuslimAssociation held a special commemorative event at Fazal Mosque in memory ofMaulvi Wahab Adam.

Due to our centenary celebrations and the Conference of World Religions in February, our Peace Conferencewas delayed to November. The 2013 peace prize was awarded to Mr Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, Founder andCEO of Mary’s Meals UK, in recognition of his outstanding efforts to provide food and education to hundredsof thousands of children in the developing world and subsequently recognised by the world community as oneof the top 100 pioneers in the world.

By the grace of Allah, our auxiliary organisations continueto raise huge sums of money for various deserving causes –this year Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya was able to organiseits cheque presentation event at the House of Lords (see photo above) attracting a large number of dignitariesand proved to be an excellent way of promoting the true picture of Islam to the people of this country. Havingraised over £330,000 for various charities, they set a target of £400,000 this year and have already held asuccessful Charity Walk event at London’s Hyde Park. This is in addition to other notable work like the plantingof trees all over the UK, regular blood donation and raising thousands of pounds for the British Royal Legionthrough the Poppy Appeal.

Majlis Ansarullah UK raised £360,000 for several charities last year. I would particularly like to thank themfor their efforts in the promotion of the book Life of Muhammad(saw). Their dedicated website has up to the endof the May 2015 resulted in over 30,650 downloads of this book. This is all in addition to the efforts made bythem and the community all over the UK to distribute this excellent book.

Lajna Imaillah UK produced an excellent report for the Shura detailing the many activities including their ownLajna Twitter account and regularly updated websites keeping their members informed of activities. At all majorevents they also raise money for charities and at Jalsa alone raised £12,500 by selling refreshments and tubs ofcandy floss!

umuR KhARiJiyAhThe External Affairs team were veryactive in developing and nurturingrelationships with politicians, dignitaries, diplomats and members of different largeorganisations. The fact we now see alarge number of politicians, diplomat andother dignitaries attending our functionsshows the success of our UmurKharijiyah team helped by our localbranches. It also raised awareness ofpersecution issues and ran severalnational campaigns in this regard. Withthe current crisis in the world, our teamsare working diligently with the variousmedia outlets to promote the truepicture of Islam. We also have all partyparliamentary groups in both theEuropean and British Parliaments whopursue our interests, especially whereAhmadis find themselves in very dire situations in Pakistan, Indonesia and other Muslim countries.

“As part of the FirstWorld Warcommemorationsour mosques turnedoff their lights tomark 100 yearssince the start ofWorld War One.This received goodcoverage in themedia and was wellreceived by charitiesand politicians.”

WAqF JAdid And tAhRiK JAdidBoth departments continue to work hard in raising aware of these funds and maintained the high standard wehave set for ourselves in particular in Waqf Jadid where the previous year we achieved the first position in theworld ranking after Pakistan and this time we were very close to achieving the same position. For 2014, WaqfeJadid collected just under £1,260,000 representing an increase of almost £170,000 from last year. For TahrikJadid, the total collection was just under £1,366,000 which represents an increase of just over £165,500 fromlast year.

JAidAdThis year Mr Nasser Khan began to oversee the activities of the Properties and Real Estate department whilsta new Secretary Jaidad, Mr Irfan Qureshi, was appointed. This new structure is enabling us to work moreefficiently. Our Jaidad teams are working hard on new projects mentioned earlier and are also involved inrefurbishment of our properties.

geneRAl secRetARyOur General Secretary Department is very busy department dealing with a large number of reports to and fromthe local branches and sending instructions to them. They also undertake a variety of other tasks includingorganising the Majlis Shura, Majlis Amila meetings, co-ordinating office bearer refresher courses, correspondingwith other departments and many other tasks including most recently being involved in the creation and logisticplanning of 20 new branches in London.

tABlighPreaching and propagation of the faith is a big challenge: to be truly successful, we need to distinguish betweenthe awareness campaign and true Tabligh that can only happen on a 1-2-1 basis. The local branches and theauxiliary organisations do a wonderful job in raising awareness in the society at large. In the various events wehold, we also have a number of contacts which can be our target audience. Last year we allocated a very largebudget to the Tabligh department and I am aware that some work has started in line with their programme butwe now need to increase our efforts.

tA’limThe education department has been very busy over the year. Many Jama’ats are holding regular Ta’lim classesat least once a week in accordance with the national Ta’lim syllabus. This year, the Noor Centre where theJama’at provides support in various subjects including English, Mathematics, Science and the Ta’lim Syllabusto students from years 7 to GCSE was moved to Ashcroft College, Southfields. By the Grace of Allah, the student

numbers have grown from 35 students last year to 100 registered students for the Saturday session. A similarsetup has been attempted in the Midlands and North West Region but more work is needed to be donehere and then the Noor tuition template will be expanded to other regions. Career guidance surgeries wherestudents can seek career advice were also held. An e-learning portal has also been developed and will allowmembers to log in and have access to Ta’lim material. Two successful student experience events were alsoheld – one in Bradford and the other in London.

diyAFAtThe demands of hospitality and catering have increased in response to the expansion of the community. This department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year looking after a large number of guests arrivingfrom abroad and catering for all their needs. The total number of meals provided last year amounted to over600,000. They provide an excellent service to the whole of the Jama’at.

tARBiyAtOur Secretary Tarbiyat travelled up and down the country and held Tarbiyat workshops and meetings withthe Jama’ats to encourage members to attend prayers at mosques/local salat centres. Another very importanttask the Tarbiyat department is doing is sending summary of Huzur’s Aqdas(aba) sermons via WhatsApp andtext messaging. They also held Tarbiyat days in Jama’ats throughout the country for members of the Jama’atto regularly pray together, to eat together and to discuss Tarbiyat topics together. Through its dedicatedefforts, the Islahi Committee resolved a number of disputes although, unfortunately, in some cases it wasnot possible to achieve success. I would like to thank Dr Shabir Bhatti and his team for the hard work theyhave carried out during the year.

tAlimul quR’An The department held a number of National Talimul Qur’an classes throughout the year where memberswere taught how to improve their recitation/translation of the Holy Qur’an with the aim of producingteachers. The Department also promoted the Waqf Arzi scheme and visited a number of Jama’ats throughoutthe UK where Qur’an classes were also held. The Al-Hafizoon classes were also held regularly every week.

FinAnce & giFt Aid The Department works very hard and their teams continued to visit the regions and local branches. Theyalso held a number of finance workshops and increased awareness and transparency of the Association’sfinancial position thus creating trust and giving confidence to the members. The teams have worked veryhard in trying to increase our total income through this challenging economic climate. The Departmenthas also been proactive in highlighting and monitoring the expenditure especially the running costs incurredby missions and branches. They have also continued to inform members about the gift aid scheme, throughwhich we are able to generate a further 20% donation made by a taxpayer.

sAmi BAsRi Each event and programme requires the full dedicated support of the audio-video department. Teams werealso involved in the research and design of permanent audio/visual systems implemented in our variousmosques around the country. In addition to this, CCTV’s were upgraded at various centres. MTA UK hasbeen busy in producing documentaries, news items and other programmes which have been broadcast onMTA International, internet sites and external satellite channels. As the requirement for translation grows, the multilingual translation department provided translation facilities in different languages from differentbackgrounds.

InvestmentsInvestment decisions are taken by the Finance Committee.

Public benefitIn shaping our objectives for the year and planning our activities, the Trustees have considered the CharityCommission guidance on public benefit and believe that Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK meets thenecessary requirements. The remainder of this report and the separate Annual Report clearly illustrate thebenefit to the public at large from the activities undertaken by the charity.

Post Balanace Sheet EventA huge fire erupted in the communal kitchen stores on 26 September 2015 and quickly flared throughout thefront part of the Association’s administrative community centre in Baitul Futuh Morden requiring more than70 fire-fighters. Fortunately, there was no loss of life. The Baitul Futuh Mosque, Tahir Hall, Aftab KhanLibrary, Isha’at stores and the studios were unaffected. The old part of the former milk dairy comprising hallsand offices was gutted, rendered beyond salvage, and resulted in a loss of some files and vouchers. However, membership data and income and expenditure transactions was available in offsite backups and the Associationwas able to resume its work within a week. Some departments have had to be accommodated in makeshifttemporary accommodation on site.

The damage caused by the fire was insured. At the date of this balance sheet negotiations with the insurers onthe final settlement figure are continuing. Moreover, the Association intends to improve the facilities andmake the facia attractive. As such, there will be additional costs that shall be funded by the Association fromits resources.

Meanwhile, the Trustees are most thankful to the Metropolitan Police and emergency services and in particularits neighbours and countless others who offered help and support to the Association in the immediate aftermathof the fire.

AuditorsA resolution to reappoint Haines Watts, Chartered Accountants as auditors for the ensuing year will beproposed at the next meeting of the Management Committee.

Approved and authorised for issue by the Management Committee and signed on its behalf on 29 March2016.

We were engaged to audit the financial statements of Ahmadiyya Muslim Association United Kingdom for the yearended 30 June 2015 which comprise of the Statement of Financial Activities, the Balance Sheet, the Cash FlowStatement and the related notes. The financial reporting framework that has been applied in their preparation isapplicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted AccountingPractice). This report is made solely to the charity’s trustees, as a body, in accordance with the regulations made under section154 of the Charities Act 2011 and in accordance with section 44(1)(c) of the Charities and Trustee Investment(Scotland) Act 2005 and regulation 10 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). Ouraudit work has been undertaken so that we might state to the charity’s trustees those matters we are required to stateto them in an auditor’s report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept orassume responsibility to anyone other than the charity and the charity’s trustees as a body, for our audit work, for thisreport, or for the opinions we have formed.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and auditorAs explained more fully in the Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities, the Trustees are responsible for the preparationof financial statements and for being satisfied that they give a true and fair view.We have been appointed as auditor under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and report in accordance withregulations made under section 154 of that Act, and section 44(1)(c) of the Charities and Trustee Investment(Scotland) Act 2005 and report in accordance with regulations made under that Act. Our responsibility is to auditand express an opinion on the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and International Standards onAuditing (UK and Ireland). Those standards require us to comply with the Auditing Practices Board’s Ethical Standardsfor Auditors. Because of the matter described in the Basis for Disclaimer of Opinion paragraph, however, we were notable to obtain sufficient appropriate evidence to provide a basis for an audit opinion.

scope of the audit of the financial statements An audit involves obtaining evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements sufficient to givereasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatement, whether caused by fraud orerror. This includes an assessment of: whether the accounting policies are appropriate to the charity’s circumstancesand have been consistently applied and adequately disclosed; the reasonableness of significant accounting estimatesmade by the trustees; and the overall presentation of the financial statements. In addition, we read all the financialand non-financial information in the Amir’s Report and Trustees’ Report to identify material inconsistencies with theaudited financial statements and to identify any information that is apparently materially incorrect based on, ormaterially inconsistent with, the knowledge acquired by us in the course of performing the audit. If we become awareof any apparent material misstatements or inconsistencies we consider the implications for our report.

Basis for disclaimer of opinion on financial statementsThe audit evidence available to us was limited because most of the physical accounting records were destroyed duringa fire on 26 September 2015. As a result of this we have been unable to obtain sufficient and appropriate evidenceconcerning some elements of the financial statements.

disclaimer of opinion on financial statementsBecause of the significance of the matter described in the Basis for Disclaimer of Opinion on Financial Statementsparagraph, we have not been able to obtain sufficient and appropriate audit evidence in respect of all the underlyingtransactions to provide a basis for an audit opinion. Accordingly we do not express an opinion on the financialstatements.

matters on which we are required to report by exceptionArising from the limitation of our work referred to above:

we have not obtained all the information and explanations that we considered necessary for the purpose of ouraudit; and

we were unable to determine whether adequate accounting records have been kept.
