GREYHOUND RESOURCES | CAPABILITY STATEMENT 5

ComplianceCompliance is assured with Greyhound Resources.

There are complex laws and regulations in place to keep Australia’s roads safe. As an operator in the mining and resources industry, it can be difficult to keep up with these requirements – but at Greyhound Resources, we place a strong emphasis on compliance, so you can be certain that you are satisfying your Chain of Responsibility obligations.

We work closely with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and State Transport authorities to ensure our systems and processes go above and beyond their requirements for accreditation.

Our proactive maintenance and inspection program not only guarantees our vehicles meet the requirements for compliance, but also ensures our fleet is always running on time and at peak efficiency.

Our 24/7 operations team utilises advanced vehicle tracking systems to monitor every moment of our fleet’s movements in real-time, as well as in-vehicle cameras to detect driver fatigue or distraction. Our operations managers are alerted at the first sign of a potential fatigue breach and can take preventative action immediately.

Our roster management systems, including industry-leading electronic checks to ensure every roster is compliant with NHVR regulations, help to ensure our drivers are always well-rested and ready for duty.

We also provide all Greyhound Resources personnel with risk mitigation education and training, so that every link in your Chain of Responsibility is strong.

With Greyhound Resources, you can always be confident in your compliance!

SEEING EYE: How the Guardian monitoring system works

Greyhound Resources is proud to have pioneered systems and processes that enable real-time management of driver fatigue via our 24/7 operations team.

The Guardian monitoring system aboard every Greyhound Resources vehicle is configured to detect fatigue events, distraction events and field-of-view exceptions.

Face-and-gaze tracking algorithms measure the driver’s head position and eye closure and, when safety parameters are exceeded, audio alarms and seat vibration are immediately activated. At the same time, a forward-facing camera captures critical information about road conditions at the time of the event.

When a fatigue or distraction event is detected, data and footage are immediately relayed to the 24/7 Guardian control centre, which then alerts fleet management and allows them to respond in real time to the developing situation in the coach.

A Flexible ApproachYour business is unique. So are our transport solutions.

At Greyhound Resources, our flexible and dynamic approach enables us to offer safe, efficient and highly customisable workforce transport services to our partners in the mining and resources industry.

We have a wealth of experience in delivering transport solutions at the construction and production phases for small and large-scale operations around the country. Our team has seen and done it all and knows how to tailor solutions to your needs.

From transfers and shuttles to support a FIFO workforce, to dedicated BIBO services, Greyhound Resources’ personnel transport solutions are always adapted for individual client requirements. At the same time, we guarantee a consistently outstanding level of service for all our clients that emphasises safety, compliance, passenger comfort and on-time delivery.

We understand the constantly evolving nature of resources projects. Our national network and adaptable approach allow us to rapidly scale operations up or down as you require, and ensure our services are always a perfect match for your changing work patterns.

We regularly perform bussing optimisation reviews. We are constantly analysing our services for any potential improvements that can be made, so that we can provide maximum efficiency and safety at minimum cost to you.

At Greyhound Resources, we will always go above and beyond to exceed your expectations.

Case StudiesOptimisation in ActionAt Greyhound Resources, we are always striving to optimise the services we provide to our partners.

During the tender process to provide workforce transportation services to a major LNG project, we identified inefficiencies in the planned ‘single uplift’ execution strategy.

The 70 coaches that were required at peak times would occupy over 1.5km of the 12km stretch of road between the project camp and the LNG construction site. With limited pick-up and set-down locations, multiple road intersections, and delays at the security points, the ‘single uplift’ strategy would take significantly more time than the targeted 20 minutes.

Drawing on our years of experience in situations like these, we were able to analyse the situation and suggest an alternate strategy that would reduce the workforce transfer time, reduce the number of coaches on the road (and the risk associated with that), and even reduce the cost of the bussing contract.

We were able to successfully execute this more efficient strategy with no disruption to the project, leading to a successful partnership that has seen Greyhound Resources serve as the exclusive transportation provider for the project since its inception.

CuttingEdge Tech No matter how good our coaches are, we always think they could be better.

In 2016, Greyhound Resources developed the TechBus, a prototype vehicle co-funded by the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) to demonstrate cutting-edge safety innovations and establish a new benchmark for transportation in the resources sector.

Since then, the Greyhound TechBus has travelled more than 100,000km without incident. It has been successfully used to trial intelligent and responsive transport solutions that ensure both the vehicle and its driver are always operating at maximum efficiency.

The advanced features trialled aboard the TechBus, which won the McLanahan Safety Award for Greyhound Australia at the Queensland Mining Awards 2018, have now been deployed across our state-of-the-art fleet.

You can count on us to keep innovating – because when it comes to safety, we’re never satisfied.

“Greyhound Australia has provided excellent service transporting all project workers between the airport to the camp, site and town,” the project manager says.

“Greyhound Australia’s service has been outstanding in terms of meeting all project expectations pertaining to safety performance, service commitment and overall alignment with our culture. Thanks for a job well done.”

11GREYHOUND RESOURCES | CAPABILITY STATEMENT

Our buses are only the beginning of our story.

People are the key to the success of Greyhound Resources. We have assembled a team of the most talented, respected and experienced people in the Australian bus and coach industry, and we have established a culture that empowers them to excel.

People & Culture

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION HEALTH AND WELLBEINGAUSTRALIAN COACH CAPTAINS ACADEMY

Greyhound Resources’ diverse workforce reflects the contemporary and multicultural communities in which we operate.

We recognise that talent and capability are not exclusive to any one demographic. Delivering effective and efficient transport solutions requires a wide range of talents from a wide variety of backgrounds, working together in a supportive environment.

We value diversity of thought and experience. We ensure that every idea and contribution is valued and considered, and we believe that our inclusive and collaborative culture contributes to successful outcomes for our business and personal satisfaction for our employees.

A healthy workforce is a happy, safe and productive workforce.

From the beginning, we take care to place people in roles where they can succeed. Pre-employment medical assessments are conducted on all new workers to ensure they can perform the tasks that are inherent to their role.

Our internal rehabilitation and return-to-work programs support employees who are injured or recuperating from illness to safely return to their roles as soon as possible.

Our Employee Assistance Program offers free confidential counselling and support for our employees, as well as for their immediate family members. We also encourage our employees to participate in voluntary health programs.

At Greyhound Resources, the maintenance of our vehicles goes hand-in-hand with the maintenance of our employees’ physical and mental wellbeing.

We are proud to be the industry leader in training and developing Australian coach drivers, delivering the highest standard of accreditation through our Australian Coach Captains Academy (ACCA).

Safety is a core value of ACCA and our drivers are carefully selected and trained. Successful coach captains are required to meet exacting standards and demonstrate they have the knowledge, skills and experience they need to operate efficiently, effectively and safely.

Our coach captains are prepared for any eventuality and trained in effective emergency procedures. In the unlikely event of an incident, our coach captains will safely mitigate the risks of situations that could have catastrophic consequences with the wrong pair of hands behind the wheel.

Of course, our coach captains are not just drivers. They are brand ambassadors, trained to deliver an exceptional experience for passengers. With this level of customer service, your team won’t just have a safe journey – they’ll have a pleasant one.

When your workers are on a Greyhound Resources bus, you can rest assured they’re in good hands.

Environment

There is now a broad consensus among climate scientists that air travel has the biggest environmental impact of all long-distance travel options. The faster something goes, the more energy it uses and the more fossil fuels it burns – as a result, planes pollute at inordinately high levels. Due to the projected continual growth in air travel around the world, aviation is one of the fastest-growing sources of greenhouse emissions globally.

The emissions generated by a plane are at least shared between its passengers. The same cannot be said for cars when they are driven solo across long distances – so if someone was to drive a car by themselves between Sydney and Melbourne, the greenhouse impact would be similar to flying the same distance.

Buses, on the other hand, burn significantly fewer fossil fuels than planes while still splitting the emissions burden between passengers. Depending on how full they are, buses produce between five to 10 times fewer emissions per passenger than cars or aircraft.

Buses even win out over trains in the sustainability stakes – in 2007, researchers at the University of Sydney found that heavy trains produce more than three times as much carbon dioxide per passenger-kilometre as buses.

When you put your workforce on a Greyhound you can take pride in knowing that you’re doing your part to make a difference!

Do your bit for the environment with our efficient fleet of coaches that leaves car and air travel gasping!

Transport is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions around the world (in Australia, it’s second only to electricity). But when it comes to environmental efficiency, not all modes of transport are created equal.
