Architecture - A Glorious and Noble Profession Architecture as a profession has always been considered as the noblest of professions as it provides comfort, convenience and beauty for the performance of all human activities. All human activities are performed under Architectural creations be it the house, office, shop, club, hospital; even parks and roads are designed by architects for efficient use by all related activities. Architects are respected professionals and the hard working ones are financially well rewarded. There will always be a need for Architects as development cannot happen without physical construction. Young interested people will find this profession very satisfying both professionally and financially.

GCAD -The Background The Gateway Collage of Architecture and Design was initiated by the Gateway Education & Charitable Society in 2008.

This Society has as a partner, an architect who has a strong desire of providing to the young people, aspiring to lead a creative life of an architect a platform that is based idealistic but pragmatic thinking. The college is being guided by another architect who has vast experience in architectural education and believes in using contemporary teaching methods for effective education.

The Society has the long term plans of becoming a University offering a variety of undergraduate and post-graduate courses. The Society is presently running a successful, modern international school, besides an Engineering college and a Hotel Management Institute. 4

GCAD Philosophy The basic philosophy of the Gateway College of Architecture and Design is to use the latest technology for creating an effective teaching environment but not making the learners slaves of technology. The college is working on principles that inculcate the use of hand, mind and machine in the world of architecture and design. Integration of the academic and residential spaces in the college building is designed to create a TECHNICAL GURUKUL where student teacher interaction happens perpetually through both information technology and face to face modes. GCAD also believes the responsibility of the institute lies in not only producing efficient architects but also good citizens and has an extensive curricula of extra mural activities for this purpose.

GCAD - Infrastructure Gateway College of Architecture offers a unique facility of each student being able to work on a laptop which entails the provision of making charging points available to each student. With the wi-� connectivity, students can access the internal server anytime, anywhere within the building. This access provides the facility of connecting the students and teachers on both the face to face and the electronic medium. The students can access leaning material from the server, send their submissions to the server and check their grades and other records electronically. The college has substantive library available for long hours for students convenience

A fully equipped workshop provides the students a facility of making physical models of their designs besides making simulations on their laptops.
