Tidal at Takeda

• Our global cross-platform automation tool for event processing and

scheduling – industry terminology is “Workload Automation.”

• In production use since 2009 when it was implemented to replace the

functionality of CA Autosys tool and IBM TWS tool. During subsequent

acquisitions, we absorbed Automic and JP1 (Hitachi) as well.

• Enables communication at API level with multiple applications/systems

through adapters specifically designed for them, rather than harder to

maintain and less visible wrapper scripts used in other tools.

• A cross-platform tool – SAP is only one of the many Takeda platforms using

Tidal, with heaviest usage being Veeva CRM via Informatica.

Key Tidal Components in Use

Tidal Agents:

• Reside on the target and function as a

delegate for the Tidal Master to perform tasks

locally on the target machine

• Agent installation allows file monitor

capabilities

• Gives ability to run commands at the OS level

o Windows and UNIX OS

• Can operate as an SFTP client if required

• Requires participation in domain (onetakeda,

nycomed, etc.)

Tidal Adapters:

• Reside in the Tidal instance and work

through the API of the application to take

control of the embedded scheduler
