This session will present the current status of implementation of the ESI RegionalProgram,includingdescriptionofsectors,beneficiariesandcountriesbenefitingfromtheProgram,theoverallapproachandmethodologiesbeingdeveloped,partnershipsestablishedlocally,regionallyandgloballyandtheknowledgedevelopmentplan.Moderator:MariaNetto,IDBPresentations:• CurrentstatusofimplementationoftheregionalESIProgram–EstebanSuárez,

IDB (30min), will provide a detailed overview of the status of implementationincluding how funds are being utilized, expected milestones, specific status ofcountries, beneficiaries, sectors covered by the Program, partnerships built andplanned and development of a knowledge sharing program, it will also detailevents,publicationsandonlinetools-webplatform.

• Approaches andmethodologies being developed by the Program and lessonslearned – Daniel Magallon, BASE (30 min), will provide an overview of themethodologicalapproachdesignedundertheProgram,outliningthekeyfeaturesofthetoolkit,anddevelopmentsinimprovingthemethodologiesandinstrumentsthrough experiences in different countries – i.e. Improvements in contract (ElSalvador),expansionoftechnologiescoveredinmethodologiesandtheirupgrades(i.e.solar,stoves,ornamentalrocks,etc.),adaptationoftheinsuranceschemebycountries(‘fianza’versus‘insurance’).

ThissessionwillexploretheenergyefficiencycontextinMexicoandtheroleofinitiativeslikeESIintheenforcementofpublicpoliciesthatfosterenergyefficiencyculture,improveproductivityandenhancecompetitiveness.Moderator:EnriqueNieto,IDBPresentations:

• Energy Efficiency perspective in Mexico, public policies – Santiago Creuheras,SENER (20min), this presentationwill outlineMexican targets regarding energyefficiency and how SENER envisages to scale up the ESI approach to support itsnationalpolicygoals.

• ESI in the tourism sector, perspective and EE potential – Ivette Valenzuela,Bancomext (15 min), this presentation will provide an overview of Bancomext’ssustainability strategy and the perspective and potential of the ESI Program in thehotelssectorinwhichtheinstitutionisthemainfinancialentityinthecountry.

• PlannedactivitiesandstructureofmarketassessmenttoreplicateESIinthetourismsector–VíctorManueldelaCruz(15min),thispresentationwillprovideanoverviewoffirstfindings,guidelinesandnextstepsafterobtainingtheinsightsonwhichtheESIProgramdevelopmentwillbebased.
