Strategically Located Business HubThe state is centrally located in India with unique location advantage of being centrallylocated in the country. Geographical ProfileThe state bestrides the Narmada River, which runs east and west between the Vindhya andSatpura ranges. These ranges and the Narmada are the traditional boundaries between thenorth and south of India.Around 31% of the state is under forest cover, constituting 12.3% of forest area of India,with abundant natural resources. Favorable soil and climatic conditions have helped thestate to be a leading producer of coarse cereals, oilseeds and soybean in the country. Thestate has attracted a large number of agro-based industries because of its agriculturalproducts.Madhya Pradesh has rich mineral resources and has the largest reserve of diamond andcopper in India. Additionally, the state has significant reserves of coal, coal-bed methane,manganese and dolomite.

Location & GeographyAgar Malwa situated in the western boundary of the state. It is situated along the Indore-Kota SH 27highway. Surrounded by Ujjain and Ratlam in the south, Rajgarh and Shajapur in the east. Thenorthern boundary is formed with Jhalawar district of Rajasthan. The total geographical area of theDistrict is 272578 hectares. Stone, Murram and Sand are the most found minerals in the district.

History of the DistrictThe history of Malwa district starts the confluence of archaeological remains dating back 4000years ago. Susner, Soyakkalan, Badagaon etc. are the important centers of medieval importance.During the Mughal period in MP, when Mandu used to be the capital of the Mughals, Agar Malwawas the summer capital owing to its climatic advantage over other regions.

Location & GeographyAlirajpur is a district in the western part of the M.P. Alirajpur is 203.5 km from Indore on NH47.The district occupies an area of 2165.24 km². Alirajpur lies in the Malwa region of the state and issurrounded by Dhar and Barwani districts in the east, Gujarat in the west, Jhabua district in thenorth and Maharashtra state in the south. The territory is hilly and many of the inhabitants are Bhils.Amongst the mineral resources available, Muram, Stone Grit and Sand are the most abundantlyavailable and extracted.

History of the DistrictBeing a tribal dominated community, Alirajpur area was being ruled by tribal kings in the 15thcentury. After the freedom in 1947, became a part of Madhya Bharat Administrate. After theconstitution of Madhya Pradesh on 1st November 1956 Alirajpur came into Jhabua district.

Location & GeographyAshoknagar is located on the northern part of Madhya Pradesh between Sindh and the Betwa rivers.It comes under the northern part of Malwa plateau, though main part of its district lies in theBundelkhand Plateau. The eastern and western boundaries of the District are well defined by therivers. The Betwa flows along the eastern boundary separating it from Sagar District and LalitpurDistrict of Uttar Pradesh. The Sindh is the main river flowing along the western boundary.

History of the DistrictHistory of the town goes back around the ancient Indian Mahabharat, according to many earlyhistorians, Ashoknagar town was a part of Chedi Kingdom along with Chanderi. In the 19th andearly 20th century, the town was a part of Ichagarh District of Scindias of Gwalior. In the late 20thcentury, Ashoknagar was known as Pachhar. Location & GeographyBalaghat is a city and a municipality in Balaghat district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It isthe administrative headquarters of Balaghat district. The city was originally called "Burha", but thename was changed to "Balaghat", which was originally just the name of the district. Balaghat means"over or near the ghats." District Balaghat is bounded by Rajnandgaon in the East, Seoni in the West,District Mandla in the North and District Bhandara of Maharashtra State in the south. TheWainganga River separates the district from Seoni while the rivers Bawanthadi and Bagh define theinter-state boundary.

History of the DistrictDivided in 18th century between two Gond kingdoMs; west of Wainganga was kingdom of Deogarh,while the eastern part was Garh-Mandla kingdom. Deogarh kingdom was annexed by the BhonsleMarathas of Nagpur in 1743. In 1818, at the conclusion of the Third Anglo-Maratha War, the NagpurEmpire became a princely state of British India. In 1853, the Nagpur Empire, including the Balaghatdistrict, was annexed by the British, and became the new province of Nagpur.

Location & GeographyBetul district is the amongst the southern most distrcits in MP. The district is identified to be theorigin place of river Tapti. Hoshangabad district in its north, Amravati district of Maharashtra state inthe south, Chhindwara district in the east and East Nimad (Khandwa) district in the west. It is located185 KM North towards State capital Bhopal. Betul District occupies an area of approximately 10043square kilometres.

History of the DistrictThe district derives its name from the small town of Betul Bazar about 5 km south of Badnur, theHeadquarters of the district. During the Maratha regime also, in the beginning of the British rule,Betul or Betul Bazar was the district Headquarters. In 1822 the District Headquarters was shifted tothe present place, then only the village came to be known as Badnur Dhana, meaning Badnur villagein the local dialect.

Location & GeographyBhind is the Northernmost District of Madhya Pradesh, north east of Gwalior. Location & GeographyDamoh is a district of Madhya Pradesh State located in Central India. The district is part of SagarDivision. It is situated in the north-eastern part of the State. Thee district is surrounded by Sagar inthe west, Narsinghpur & Jabalpur in the South, Chhatarpur in the North, Panna & Katni in the east. Itis situated in a plateau region about 12 miles (19 km) south-east of the Sonar River. Major mineralfrom the area is Limestone. History of the DistrictStone Age tools found in Singrampur Valley are testimony to the fact that this district was a humanhabitat for millions of years. Around 5th century, it was part of the Guptas of Pataliputra and underthe Chedi Empire between 8th to 12th Century. According to legends Damoh got its name from thename of the Queen of Narvar Rani Damyanti, wife of Raja Nal.

History of the DistrictFounded in 1549. Rao Bhagwan Rao, 1st Rao of Datia and Baroni, received Datia and Baroni from hisfather, Raja Bir Singh Deo. After he died in 1676, the state came under British control with otherterritories in Bundelkhand under the Treaty of Bassein in 1802. In 1956, the Vindhya Pradesh state wasmerged with certain other areas to form the state of Madhya Pradesh within the Union of India.

History of the DistrictIn 1305, Malwa was passed to Al-ud-din Khalji when Dhar and Mandu were also captured. Dharcontinued to be under Delhi Sultans until the reign of Muhammed II. Khalji Sultans continued to ruleMalwa till 1531 A.D. Akbar stayed at Dhar for seven days, while directing the invasion of theDeccan. Emperor Jahangir stayed in Mandu for over six months in 1616 A.D. Freedomfighters captured the Fort of Dhar from July to October, 1857.

Location & Geography

Dindori is a district of Madhya Pradesh state of central India. The town of Dindori is the

district headquarters. It was created on 25th May, 1998 with total 927 villages. The

district is a part of Jabalpur Division. The district covers an area of 7470 sq.km. and is

located on the eastern part of Madhya Pradesh, bordering the state of Chhattisgarh. It

is surrounded by Shahdol in the east, Mandla in the west, Umaria in the north, and

Bilaspur district of the state of Chhattisgarh in the south.

History of the District

Dindori district was formed in 1998 after the bifurcation from Mandla. The original

name of Dindori was known as Ramgarh till 1951, which then was a tehsil of Mandla.

Maurya, Sunga and Kanva followed by the Chalukya and Chedis dynasties ruled over

central India. Till 1835, Mandla was a tehsil of Seoni. In 1851, it was promoted to the

status of district. Britishers killed the brave queen of Ramgarh and suppressed the

1857 mutiny in Mandla.

Location & GeographyHarda is a district in the southwestern part of Madhya Pradesh. The district is part ofNarmadapuram Division. Harda has a total area of 998.41 sq. km. Location & GeographyHoshangabad is a district in the southern part of M.P and is 76km from Bhopal on the MP SH22,NH30. The district lies in the central Narmada Valley along the southern banks of Narmada rivercovering an area of 5408.23 sq.km, and lies on the northern fringe of the Satpura Plateau. History of the DistrictHoshangabad derived its name from Sultan Hoshang Shah Ghori; the second king to Malwa of theGhori line who conquered it. Narmadapur was its erstwhile name. From 1835 to 1842 Hoshangabad,Betul and Narsimhapur were amalgamated with headquarters at Hoshangabad. Location & GeographyKhargone is a district in south-eastern part of M.P. Khargone is 126 km from the nearest big city ofIndore. It is spread over an area of 8,030 sq.Km. Towards the north it borders Dhar, Indore andDewas districts. Towards the south, it borders Maharashtra, in the east, Khandwa and Burhanpurand Barwani in the west. Located in the central part of the Narmada Valley, north of this districtthere are Vindhyachal and Satpura mountain ranges in the south. Narmada river flows about 50 kmin the district. Kunda and Veda are other major rivers.

History of the DistrictKhargone is associated with the Ramayana, Mahabharatkal, Satvahan, Kanishka, Abhiram Harsh,Chalukya, Bhoj, Holkar, Scindia, Mughal and British etc. This is found in stone weapons too. Region hasbeen a part of the empire of Hailar, Shinde, Pawar, Malwa, Mandu, Mughal and Peshwa and otherMaratha warlords – of Maheshwar. With the formation of MP on November 1, 1956, this districtcame into existence as “West Nimar” which in May 1998, was divided into– Khargone and Barwani.

Location & GeographyMandla District is situated in Satpura hills in the state of Madhya Pradesh of India. Mandla issurrounded by river Narmada on three sides and Narmada river passing through north-west side ofMandla. The most fertile part of the District falls in the valley of Banjr river which is an feeder riverof Narmada, this fertile part of District is called ‘Haveli’. The hilly terrain on the southern part of‘Haveli’ is covered with dense forests. The surrounding districts are Jabalpur in the North, Seoni andBalaghat in the south and west and Dindori in the South East.

History of the DistrictWriters such as Alexander Cunningham, Moti Raven Kangali, Girija Shankar Agrawal have mentionedMandla in their work. Gondwana queen Rani Durgavati shah ruled Mandla province and foughtagainst Akbar in her valiant effort to save her kingdom; which is still subject to folklore. Rani Avantibaiof Ramgarh later fought with the British to save her kingdom from annexation. The town was made amunicipality in 1867. The Maratha wall was removed in the early 20th century.

Location & GeographySeoni is primarily tribal dominated district. The District is situated Satpura plateau in the South ofJabalpur Division. Geographically, the north part of the district consists of trap hills and the south ofcrystalline rock. Seoni district is rich in timber resources. Location & GeographyThe district Sidhi is located in the northeastern part of Madhya Pradesh. It forMs the northeasternboundary of the state. History of the DistrictPalaeolithic Excavations at Sihawal and Baghor of remains of several tools related to upperpalaeolithic age (about 40,000 years ago) have been obtained from Sihawal and Baghor of this district.A Shaiva temple and monastary beloging to 972 AD is situated in Chandreh village of Rampur Naikin,Sidhi. Established by the Guru of Chedi rulers Prabodha Shiva who belonged to Matta Mayura Saivasect for their spiritual practice and propagation of Saiva siddhanta.

Location & GeographyThe district Singrauli is located in the north-eastern part of Madhya Pradesh. Singrauli is the 50thdistrict in the state of Madhya Pradesh, which was formed on 24th May 2008 by division of Sidhidistrict, which covers a region comprising of the eastern part of the Sidhi district.

History of the DistrictHistorically Singrauli belonged to the princely state of Rewa, a part of the Baghelkhand region. In the1800s, there were three separate rulers of Singrauli. First were the Chandela rulers from Bardi.Second was Rajasahab Madwas, Baland Rajput, ruled in Majhauli block. Third was Rajasahab ofSingrauli. History of the DistrictThe district was the part of vast empires successively ruled by the Mauryas, the Sungas and theimperial Guptas.
