INTRODUCTION:

Medical department of Nanded Division provides comprehensive health care to 5386 +

1003 (Central Railway staff at Akola). Railway Employees and their family members & 888

Retired employees (RELHS) and their family members & license porters through a net work of

one 30 bedded Divisional Hospital at Nanded, One 25 bedded Sub Divisional Hospital at Purna

and four health units at Jalna, Akola , Kinwat and Nanded (DRM Office Complex).

HOSPITALS / HEALTH UNITS OF NED DIVISION & JURISDICTION:

1. Divisional Hospital, Nanded : 90.96 Kms – From LBG to HEM & Entire Division

2. Sub Divisional Hospital at Purna: 117.41Kms - From Limbagoan (Exclu) to Partur

(Exclu),

: 63.61Kms - From Parbhani to Parli (Exclu) and

: 121.32 Kms - From Purna to Washim (Exclu).

3. Health unit, Akola : 252.53 Kms - From Washim to Khandwa

DIVISIONAL HOSPITAL, NANDED:

30 Bedded New Divisional Hospital for Nanded Division at Nanded Station has been

opened & functioning from 14.10.2009.

Three doctors are managing this hospital round the clock with following facilities:

I. X-Ray 500mA II. Ultra Sonography III. Laboratory Investigations (routine) IV. OPD for Male, Female & children. V. Indoor treatment facilities of 30 beds : Male ward- 12

beds Female ward- 08 beds Officers cabin- 02 bed Supervisor cabin- 02 beds Observation- 04 beds

VI. Labour room 02 beds

VII. Periodical Medical Examination VIII. Emergency treatment facilities round the clock (Casualty) IX. ECG.

SUB-DIVISIONAL HOSPITAL AT PURNA:

Sub-Divisional Hospital at Purna with 25 beds is functioning with indoor and

investigation facilities with round the clock availability of the CMP Doctors, Nursing and

paramedical staff for medical emergencies. Medical Equipments - Life Saving Oxygen, ECG

Machine, Nebulizer, Glucometer, Suction Machines are available at Sub-divisional Hospital,

Purna & At all Health Units of Nanded Division for investigation & treatment.

Health Units at Akola, J, NED (DOC) and KNVT are having all emergency & routine

medicines and with imprest cash to meet emergency procurement of life saving drugs. Details

are given below.

DIVISIONAL MEDICAL STORES AT NANDED:

Divisional Medical Stores for Nanded Division has been set up at Nanded in Divisional

Hospital and drugs & surgical items received from Firms as per purchase orders of Chief

Medical Director, Secunderabad are distributed to Divisional Hospital/Nanded, Sub Divisional

Hospital/Purna & other Health Units at Akola, Jalna, NED (DOC) and KNVT. Drugs position is

satisfactory. Necessary drugs as per requirement are collected from other Divisional Medical

Stores-BZA, SC, and HYB. Urgent requirement of Non Stocked drugs are being met through

Local Purchase by Divisional Medical Stores and through imprest cash provided to Units.

OUT SOURCING OF MEDICAL SERVICES:

RECOGNIZED HOSPITALS AT NANDED:

Railway Board has recognized two private hospitals I.e. Ashwini Hospital and Yashoda Hospital

at Nanded for Railway Beneficiaries for all types of Medical & Surgical emergencies with ICU

facilities from 24.02.2005 and extension of recognition sanctioned up to 23.02.2011. Proposal

for extension of Recognisation of Ashwini Hospital at Nanded as Railway Recognized Hospital

is submitted to CMD/SC in April 2011 & it is pending with CMD office.

HIRED AMBULANCES:

Hired Ambulances (multi utility vehicles): One each at Nanded (DOC) & Purna are

available for shifting seriously ill / injured patients to hospitals at Nanded & Purna and to attend

the site of accidents & for management of disasters.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT

1. ACCIDENT RELIEF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT:

a. One ARME Scale-I (MG) at Akola,

b. One ARME Scale-I(BG) at Purna

c. One ARME Scale-II at Jalna

d. One ARME Scale-II at Kinwat.

2. AUGMENTED FIRST AID BOXES:

Augmented First Aid Box is available at Nanded Station and replenishment of the items is

being done by the medical department.

Augmented First Aid Boxes are available in five rakes of long distance train-T.No.2715/6

(Sachkhand Express) under Commercial department

POMKAS (Portable Medical Kits for Accidents):

POMKAs are available at all the Health Units, Sub Divisional Hospital, Purna and

Divisional Hospital, Nanded.

3. MANAGEMENT OF ACCIDENTS & DISASTERS:

To attend railway accidents, disasters promptly two scale-I ARME’s-BG at PAU and MG

at Akola & two Scale-II ARME’s are available at Jalna and at Kinwat with all equipments as per

Schedule & recommendations of High Level Committee for management of accidents &

disasters and are being inspected by Medical Officers once in a month.

Portable Medical Kit for accidents with all scheduled contents are kept at each Health

Unit at Sub Divisional Hospital, Purna and at Divisional Hospital, Nanded to attend accidents.

First Aid Boxes are inspected & replenishment with all First Aid Material as per list of

contents is being done every month and whenever required.

We have entered in memorandum of understanding with Medical Directorate of State

Government of Maharashtra and other State Government Hospitals & Private Hospitals to

provide man power and services at the time of accidents & disasters.

Updating of Medical facilities available along side the track is done for every six months.

CLEANLINESS:

Cleanliness of all Class ”A” & ”B” type stations where health inspectors are posted is on

mechanized cleaning contract awarded by Medical Department and supervised by Health

Inspectors .Cleanliness is being carried out with machines like-automatic Scrubber & Drier, High

Pressure Jet Cleaner, Vacuum Cleaner and Flipper.

Full uniform & protective gears provided to Safai Karmacharies.

Redeployment of Safai Karmacharies due to mechanized cleaning contract of NED,

PAU, J, AWB stations has been done for colonies & 50 bedded New Divisional Hospital of

Nanded.

For Mosquito control regular spraying of insecticides & regular fogging is done in

colonies.

STATION CLEANING OUTSOURCED IN NED DIVISION BY COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT:

At Mudkhed, Nagarsol stations.

RUBBISH COLLECTION & REMOVAL CONTRACTS IN COLONIES:

At Nanded, Purna,Parbhani,Jalna, Aurangabad stations.

CONSTRUCTION WORK OF DIVISIONAL HOSPITAL, NANDED:

(i) Electrical work is still pending like A/C units for Labour room, PME room, Sr. DMO room. Mortuary is yet to be provided.

(ii) S&T department work as per the provisions of detailed estimate has not yet been undertaken except provision of some telephones.

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS AND HIGHLIGHTS

1. Pulse Polio Programme was conducted on 23.01.2011. 1646 Nos of

under 5 years Children immunised.

2. Eye Check Up camp was held at DH/NED on 24.01.2011.

3. World Cancer Day was observed on 04.02.2011 in all units of Medical

Department on Nanded Division.

4. A 10% Burn case was treated at Divisional Hospital Nanded on

09.02.2011 by Case to Case basis.

5. An Appendicectomy was done at DH/NED on 14.02.2011 through case to

case basis.

6. Pulse Polio Programme was conducted on 27.02.2011.

7. World Woman’s Day was celebrated on 08.03.2011 in all units of Medical

Department on Nanded Division. At Officers Rest House Aurangabad Health

Check up Camp for Women was arranged.

8. World Kidney Day was observed on 10.03.2011 in all units of Medical

Department on Nanded Division.

9.World Glaucoma Day was conducted on 12.03.2011 in all units of Medical

Department on Nanded Division.

10. World Water Day was observed on 22.03.2011 in all units of Medical

Department on Nanded Division.

11. World Tuberculosis Day was observed on 24.03.2011 in all units of

Medical Department on Nanded Division.

12. The Eye Check up Camp was organized at Health Unit Jalna on

25.03.2011.

13. World Health Day was observed on 07.04.2011 in all units of Medical

Department on Nanded Division.

14. The first Delivery was done at Divisional Hospital Nanded on

13.04.2011.

15. World Malaria Day was observed on 25.04.2011 in all units of Medical

Department on Nanded Division.

16. World Thalasemia Day was observed on 08.05.2011.

17. ENT Surgeries started at Divisional Hospital Nanded from 10.05.2011.

18. Gynaecological Surgeries started at Divisional Hospital Nanded from

10.05.2011.

19. Hepatitis Day was observed on 19.05.2011.

20. Orthopedic Surgeries started at Divisional Hospital Nanded from

24.05.2011.

21. World Anti-tobacco Day was observed on 31.05.2011 in all units of

Medical Department on Nanded Division.

22. Herniography was done at Divisional Hospital Nanded on 03.06.2011 by

case to case basis.

23. Family Welfare Sterilization Camp was conducted at DH, Nanded on

04.06.2011 with 03 Tubectomies including laparoscopy.

24. World Environment Day was observed on 05.06.2011 at Sub-Divisional

Hospital Purna .

25. An Eye Check Up Camp was organized at Health Unit Akola on

07.06.2011.

26. At Divisional Hospital Nanded an Orthoscopy with ACL tear Repair was

done on 18.06.2011. One Lumpectomy was done on 19.06.2011 also with

the help of case to case basis surgeons.

27.International Day Against Drug Abuse was observed on 26.06.2011 at

Sub-divisional Hospital Purna.

28.Multipurpose Health Check up Camp was arranged on 24.07.2011 at

Officer's Rest House Railway Station Aurangabad. 162 No. of patients were

examined. 05 New cases of HTN, 02 new cases of DM & 02 new cases of

Cataract were diagnosed.

29. National Amelia Year Heart Day was observed on 25.07.2011 at Sub-

Divisional Hospital Purna.

30. CME Programme was arranged at Divisional Hospital Nanded on

27.07.2011 on Cardio- pulmonary Resuscitation.

31. World Hepatitis Day was observed on 28.07.2011 at Divisional Hospital

Nanded, Sub- divisional Hospital Purna, Health Unit Jalna & Akola.

32. World Breast Feeding Week was observed at Divisional Hospital

Nanded, Health Unit Akola & Jalna in first week of August.

33. Multi-speciality Health Check up Camp was organized on 10.08.2011 by

Sub-Divisional Hospital PAU at Railway community Hall. 488 No. of patients

were examined. 03 New cases of HTN, 06 new cases of DM were diagnosed.

34. Multi-speciality Health Check up Camp was also organized on

21.08.2011 at Railway Station Akot. 175 No. of patients were examined. 03

New cases of HTN, 02 new cases of DM were diagnosed.

35. School Health Check up Camp was organized on 29.08.2011 &

30.08.2011 by Sub- Divisional Hospital PAU at Railway School Purna. 179

No. of students were examined.

36.School Health Check up Camp was conducted on 02.09.2011 &

03.09.2011 at Kendriya Vidyalaya, DOC,NED. 297 No. of students were

examined.
