PRE-FIRE PLAN REQUIREMENTS FOR CONTRACTORS
North Collier Fire Control and Rescue District reviews fire protection for all structures located within its boundaries.
For all new construction and renovations greater than 1,000 square feet, a Pre-Fire Protection Plan is required, and is the contractor's responsibility. Please note that failure to produce an acceptable Pre-Fire Protection Plan will result in the delay of the building’s fire compliance. Exceptions are not accommodated. This document specifies the requirements for a properly completed Pre-Fire Protection Plan.
Please adhere to these guidelines when completing the form:
• Provide as much information as possible.
• If information is not known at the time of form completion, please have it available at the time of inspection.
• If certain items are not applicable to the project, please mark as ‘N/A’.
• The Contractor is required to submit an 8.5” x 11” site plan showing the entire property boundaries, paved areas, fire lanes, roadway hydrants and fire department appliances within 1,000 feet. Please utilize the Uniform Preplanning Symbols and mark all applicable items. (The Uniform Preplanning Symbols are shown on page 5 of this document. A sample site plan is shown on page 6.)
• The Contractor is required to submit a structural footprint (building floor plan) showing the main utility shutoffs, building entrance openings, exit stairs and locations of fire protection systems (fire department connections, sprinkler risers, post indicator valves, back flow devices, standpipes and pipes, fire pumps, emergency generators, fire alarm control panels). Please utilize the Uniform Preplanning Symbols and mark all applicable items. (The Uniform Preplanning Symbols are shown on page 5 of this document. A sample structural footprint plan is shown on page 7.)
• The Contractor may request assistance or preliminary review of their Pre-Fire Protection Plan fire prior to building final; however, plan will not be accepted until time of the building final.
• The Contractor can make last minute changes to the Pre-Fire Protection Plan at the time of the inspection and with Fire Inspector approval.
