Making good use of an engineering degree needs careful thought before and after making the decision.

Looking at the number of engineering colleges in India and the number of engineers coming out of

these colleges , the question s that form in everyone’s minds are “Does India need so many engineers

?”Are they all employable?. The negativity brought forth by such question has crippled engineering

education in India. In this global era , rather than focus on India, the question should be whether the world needs so many

engineers?. The answer is a big “YES”. The world needs in plenty well equipped , talented graduates with the right

attitude . There are job opportunities for those who have the potential in addition opportunities for self employment are

also plenty for innovative and energetic minds. As the trend goes ,most students would like to pursue professional

programmes such as medicine , and engineering since fewer seats are available for medicine ,getting an MBB S seat has

become extremely difficult and the majority is left with the next popular option – engineering . It is not wise to join a

branch of study because it is popular or because the job opportunities are high students should take the branch of s tudy

available in reputed college and start liking that branch. Plan well and work hard. What is critical in students interest in

the branch of study and the efforts put in by them to equip themselves adequately enough during their studies.

Dear Readers, Welcome to the Issue 2 | Volume 4 Mayukh ! In this trying times of rapid

industrialization and economic growth and the resultant turbulence, everywhere it has become

imperative to prepare social engineers who would contribute to and manage the needs of our society

with equanimity of mind and an attitude of selfless social service.PEC boasts of a world class

infrastructure including specialized labs and facilities in sports , ISTE Chapter. IEEE students branch ,CSI, Humanities

club, Entrepreneurship development skill etc. A ll these promote sustained quality education and ensure that the students

have an open enquiring mind and competent enough in the field. I am confident that the college with its rich legacy will

continue to shape the future of the young minds of our country and transform their potentials in to successful careers

resulting in national development.

Managements and teachers need to understand what their students want and adapt themselves

accordingly. Industries in India feel that only about 25 percent of the engineering graduates pass out

are employable. Bring the end users of products from engineering institutions, we need to value their

assessment and strive to bridge the existing gap so as to make every student employable. When

students get admitted this year the institution has to understand that its job is to prepare them for the

market place in 2020. Institutions should gear up to meet the challenges of training students to cope with the requirement.

The infrastructure and the exercise will reflect their prepared way. Digitalizat ion in academics and administrative process

will not only improve the efficiency of the institution but also help in keeping pace with the ever changing world. Digital

learning management students with software packages make learn ing internship and effective for students .

On 26thFeb2016 the final year MBA students participated in GanadipathyTulsi’s Jain Engineering College “Management Meet Sankalp’ 16” and won the third place in Business Plan Event.

On 4thMarch the first year students participated in Sona Engineering college “National level Management meet DHRITI 16” and received participation certificate.

On 6th and 7th April first and second year students participated in Jayam college of Engineering and Technology “National Level Young Business Minds Meet-TYCOON 2016”.Our MBA students won the overall championship Trophy.

On 5th March MBA second year students participated in one day workshop on Business Today- Options for the future organized by Vaniyambadi Development Forum (VDF), Vaniyambadi.

On 14th and 15th March Intra College cultural and sports events were conducted in PEC. MBA students participated in different cultural and sports activities and won prizes.

On 24th March first year students participated in Kingston Engineering College in “National Level Talent Fest ANTARIKSH’16” and received participation certificates.

On 26th March Intra college sport meet was organized by PEC and I MBA students participated in dance competition and won second prize.

On 24th and 25th March first year students participated in “Empowering women Engineering for Global Development” at Adiyaman Engineering College and won prizes.

On 11th Feb 2016 a Guest lecture was organized on “Recent trends in HR” and the resource person was Ms.Umamaheshvari Proprietor from HR Sparrow Business Solutions, Bangalore.

On 8th March Women’s day was celebrated in the college and Dr. NafizaBegham HOD of CSE Department, Barugur Government Engineering College, Barugur, participated as the chief guest and distributed the prizes to the Winners.

On 9th and 10th March a certificate course in soft skill training program was organized in association with 360 Degree Academy for MBA students.

On 19th March Entrepreneurship orientation program was organized and Mr.ArulPrabakar Assistant Manager NSIC participated as the resource person for the program.

On 30th March Entrepreneurship Development cell of PEC in association with PG& Research Development of social work Sacred Heart College Tirupattur organized “ A State Level one day Workshop & Exhibition on Learn to Earn & Lab to Land” MBA ,BE students and other nearby college students also participated.

NSS organized the state level memory competition on Swami

Vivekananda” conducted by swami vivekanandha Kendra

kanyakumari in our college auditorium. 33 students participated in the

contest and two students Mr.M.Vasanth of I Year Mech and

Mr.M.Vijayakumar of I Year CSE participated in the “Youth

Development Camp” from 19th to 21st .Jan 2017 at Kanyakumari.

NSS Conducted a Blood Donation Camp at our College premises on 24th Jan 2017 in collaboration with the Rotary Club

of Vaniyambadi and Government Hospital Vaniyambadi in which 50 students and staff donated blood.

NSS made arrangements to facilitate the staff and students to

take Voter‟s Pledge on 25th Jan 2017 in their respective classes. NSS Communicated the circular of AICTE concerning the

award of Pragathi & Saksham Scholarship 2016-17 for 32 Girls and

took a step to upload their applications through online on 3rd Feb 2017.

NSS organized one-hour Meditation Class between 4.30 pm to 5.30

pm from 2nd Feb 2017 to 4th Feb 2017 for Students and from 6th

Feb2017 to 9th Feb2017 for Staff Members.

In response to the request by Mahesh Memorial Trust, our unit collected a

sum of Rs.2840/- at the rate of Rs.30/- from each of the Teaching faculty of

Priyadarshini Engineering College and sent the amount to Mahesh Memorial Trust

Chennai on 22nd Feb2017. Who are a NGO supporting the pediatric wing of Adyar

Cancer Institute for Children.

The “VASAN EYE CARE” experts from Ambur branch conducted free

eye screening camp on 11th March2017 at our Priyadarshini

Engineering College. Students and staff got benefitted.

Anna University NSS Cell conducted 2 days workshop on “We

YRC conducted a special lecture on “Factors that Cause

Mentle Stress and the Medical Remedy for the

same”Dr, R,Arivumani ,MBBS Government Hospital

of Vnb delivered a special lecture . on 1st Feb 2017 at

Priyadarshini Engineering college Vaniyambadi.

YRC organized “one day Disaster Management

Training programme” for 100 YRC volunteers on 7th

March 2017.The Resource persons Mr.K,Kumeresan

Indian Red Cross Society, Vellore, Mr ,A. Subash

Karunai illam &Mr G. Suresh Msc BedAnaicut

participated in this programme at priyadarshini

Engineering College.

Environmental Science club organized a trip to

Regional Research Station, TNAU, Paiyur, Dharmapuri

on 20th

March 2017 in which 60 students of II-Year

Mechanical Engineering participated and got awareness

about the use of modern technical tools used in

agriculture.

On the eve of “World Water Day ,on 22nd

March 2017

NSS displayed posters within the college premises on

the theme “Save Water”.

Department of training and placement conducted the

communication skill developing classes from 14th to

17th March 2017 in our college at seminar Hall. The

Selected students from pre final years participated

and benefited in it . certificates were distributed to the

qualified.

Placement cell organised the “on campus placement

drive” for the final year mechanical students‟The

Daejoo Automotive India Pvt Ltd from Chennai

visited our campus and selected 10 students from the

mechanical department on 18th March 2017.

Placement cell arranged the on campus placement

drive for the final year ECE students .M/S AIRTEL

from Chennai visited our campus and selected 22

students from the ECE department on 24th

March2017.

Placement cell arranged the on “campus placement

drive” for the final year MBA and MCA student‟s

.M/S JUST DIAL from Chennai visited our campus

and selected 30 students from the MBA department on

12th April 2017.

Department of Training and placement conducted the

Mega job fair 2017 for the final year students of

BE/B.TECH/MBA/MCA Departments respectively.

More than 30+ companies participated. more than 500

offers were distributed. Totally 369 students got

placed among 497 students.
