Karmveer Vidya Prabodini
Academic Year 2019-20
From Principal Desk
Padmabhushan lete Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil laid the foundation of education for
educationally marginalised community in Maharashtra. He quenched the thrust of knowledge
by opening the doors of education in order to bring them in the main-stream of society. Rayat
Shikshan Sanstha, Satara is carrying this legacy since 100 years. It is proud for us that our
Rayat Shikshan Sanstha is completing its centenary year in October 2019-20
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College is one of the institutions of Rayat Shikshan
Sanstha, Satara. It is located in cosmopolitan city like Pune that strives for economically
depressed class. Students of our college are “Special” as they focal to socially, and financially
marginalized class. Their patents are involved in house-keeping jobs, domestic help. As a
result, in some cases our students are first generation to pursue degree. To uplift their
domestic status, these students require jobs. But most of the times, they get refuted because of
lack of proper employability skills. Skill based education requires experience. It is based on
theory that everything can be learnt better if it is practiced better in real life. It relates to the
qualities that a person possesses. Skills can guarantee work but conventional education does
not fulfil such thrust thoroughly. Students lack entrepreneurship skill, compeering skill,
speaking skill and other many employability skill such as repairing skill for electrical,
electronic home appliances and mobile also. So, in order to implant such skills among them
our college commenced skill-based courses under the guidance of Karmveer Vidya
Prabhodini. These courses are classified under Life Skill courses, Skill-oriented courses and
Job oriented courses.
Our college is committed to parent institution in conducting such course. Our college
commenced skill based courses from the academic year 2011-12 consisting 24 courses to
quench the knowledge thrust of students. We carried this heritage with 21 courses in 202-1,
24 courses in 2013-14, 21 courses in 2014-15, 25 courses 2015-16, 31 courses in 2017-18,
and 36 curses in 2018-19 under Karmveer Vidya Prabhodini. I have faith that these
employability skills among students will certainly help them in shaping their own career.
Already many students have been placed because of these skills based courses and I am sure
that in nearby future this ratio will increase to satisfactory level.
