A. Read the comprehension and answer the following questions

The Solar System The sun is a star that is nearest the earth. It provides the earth with energy in the

form of light and heat.

The sun travels through space with a whole family of planets, called the Solar System.

In the sun’s family there are 9 important planets of different sizes. The largest

planet is called Jupiter. The smallest planet is Mercury. The planets orbit (travel

around) the sun.

Most planets have moons which travel around them. The earth’s moon takes 28 days to

orbit the earth. It is daytime for the side of the earth that faces the sun, and night

time for the side facing away from the sun. It takes 24 hours for the earth to turn

one complete spin on its axis. Therefore a day and night is 24 hours. Normally, planets

which are near the sun are hotter than planets far away. Mercury is the nearest

planet to the sun, and it can have a temperature of 350o C – much hotter than an oven.

The Solar System also has thousands of smaller planets, some as small as rocks. These

are called asteroids.

Up in the Sky, we see many faces of Moon. Since you are born Moon is called your Maama(Maternal Uncle).Let’s give some makeover to the Moon. Put in your imaginations and do a makeover for Moon on MS Paint or Tux Paint or Pixel art. Print and paste in your project file or

you can Email it your teacher with your Name, Class and

Sec.

Note:You have to write a paragraph on the New Moon created by you in Hindi below.

Key Chain Love- Make Keychains of your own designs and patterns and gift it to your father on

this father’s day. One example is shown below. Material needed

– toothpick – red and white polymer clay (I placed the toothpick beside it to see how much polymer clay you need) – roll – baking paper – baking tray – keychain cord -1 jumpring

Condition red polymer clay by hand, simply mix it and squish it with your fingers. You may want to roll it into a log between your palms, fold it in half, and then roll again.

Make a ball of it and flatten it. Gently squish one part, to form the lower part of the heart. Use the toothpick to shape the upper part of the heart.

Use the toothpick again to make a hole in the upper left side. Take care that the toothpick goes through the heart and get out on the other part.

Make a small roll of white…… and place it on the heart. Make a crease on it to fix it on the heart, like in the picture: Add three more white petals.

Make a tiny white ball…… and place it in the middle of the petals

Now you’ll need the help of an adult. Place the heart (with it’s piece of baking paper) on the baking tray, and bake it accordingly to the instructions on the polymer clay package (they depend on the brand you use: fimo, cernit, sculpey…, but usually is one half of hour at 230 F or 110 C). You can Sun or Air dry it too.

Let it cool down. Open the jumpring (you can use pliers for that)…… put it through the hole that you made in the heart.

Close the jumpring and the keychain is ready 🙂

TRY DIFFERENT SHAPES: Eg: Sun,birds, flowers, pencil, your father’s initials etc.
