Spokane, WA October 11 - 13, 2021 Celebrating 40 Years of Creating Connections!
The 40th Annual Arts Northwest Conference
WELCOMEThank you joining us online !
Welcome to the 40th annual Arts NW Booking Conference!
You'll find that this year's conference is a little different.
Recognizing the impact Covid continues to have on all our
lives, we offered showcase artists the option of performing
live or with pre-recorded material. More than half chose to
showcase live, This year, videos will alternate with live
performances, all presented in the beautiful Theatre at the
Fox. We've worked hard to fuse the live and virtual elements
of our conference and to make the experience as equitable as
possible. We are excited about this new hybrid approach and
encourage everyone to come to the opening day orientation,
ask questions, connect with remote attendees and learn how
to navigate the conference app. And, above all, have fun!

“…The Carter Family for the millennial generation……” – The Boston Globe
“If you like your bluegrass served with a little punch, attitude, grit and
gravy … Damn Tall Buildings will slide in nice as a welcome edition to your
listening rotation. Bluegrass at heart, but pulling from a wide range of
influences including swing, ragtime, jazz, and even a hint of
contemporary perspective in the songwriting, they offer virtually
unmatched energy and enthusiasm, underpinned by intelligent songs
that don’t skimp on the infectiousness…” – Savingcountrymusic.com

The Forgotten Kingdom--Sand Stories is a travelogue through an unraveling
Mediterranean world at the turn of the 20th century, glimpsed through the
experiences of a family caught up in the upheaval of wars, displacements,
and migrations. Sand artist Kseniya Simonova crafts ephemeral flowing
narratives and dreamlike landscapes for Guy Mendilow Ensemble’s
storytelling and music. Mendilow’s cinematographic score radically
reframes traditional Ottoman Sephardic songs with elegant, multi-layered
arrangements. The bittersweet rawness of Tango; the rhythmic fire of
classical Arabic percussion; gorgeous vocal harmonies layer over the
harmonic roots of Western classical music. The projected sand follows live
musical/narrative performance, like a play.
