In thee\/ent. it became necessary to establish an institution which would be capable not onl,v of training professionals for these forcesbut also to communi- cate to them the expectations and values of the society in which they would be working. Whenthe Parliament of Catalonia enacted Law 2711985 for the Escola de Policia de Catalunya. it gavethis institution the job of training themem- bers of the security forces that an- swerto the Generalitat. as well as lo- cal police forces in Catalonia. This gave a determined directionto the training andpolice model. A Place for Training Founded in 1985.the Escola de Policiade Catalunya is an adminis- trative.autonomous institution at- tached to the Department of the In- terior andis under thedirect authoritl' of its president. the councillor of the interior.
