This November 27th, Indonesia's Lion Air low cost ordered 40 turboprop
aircraft ATR72-600 to the European aircraft manufacturer “Avions de
Transport Regional” (ATR), a subsidiary of Airbus and Finmeccanica.
This important order for 40 ATR72-600 is about $ 1 billion at list prices. It is
historic for both parties. On the one hand, this is the largest order ever
recorded to date by ATR, and allows Airbus to beat this year's record
orders with already 184 units sold since January 2014. On the other hand,
this contract will make Lion Air, which had already ordered in the past 60
ATR, the first company operating ATR in the world, in the future a total 100
aircraft.

According to RCCL’s Executive Vice President
Operations named Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, Shanghai will
become the first city outside of Miami to have a
significant Royal Caribbean International operations
office.
With a strong sale, marketing and government
relations office in China, the Miami-based brand will
have four ships sailing from China in 2015.
Then, Lutoff-Perlo is setting up an operational
footprint for the company out of its Shanghai office.
Indeed, China will become the first country to have
an operating office outside of the United States.
Lisa Lutoff-Perlo who spoke aboard the Quantum of
the Seas said : “We have a person from my team
that has gone to Asia to start the process.”. “They
will have a strong link to Miami but will have their
own onboard revenue, culinary, and entertainment
people, and a general oversight of hotel person.”
As you can see, even American company helps the
development of the Chinese cruise market which
will be more and more powerful in the cruise
industry.
ON 21 NOVEMBER 2014. Royal Caribbean Cruises and Ctrip.com International
announced that they have agreed to form a
strategic partnership through SkySea Cruises, a joint
venture which is designed to serve the Chinese cruise
market.
Regarding their financial participation, Royal
Caribbean and Ctrip will each own 35% of the new
company. The transaction is expected to close
before the end of November.
Richard D. Fain, chairman and chief executive officer
of RCCL said:"We look forward to working with Ctrip, a
Chinese travel leader, to build a national cruise line
for China,"
For RCCL, SkySea Cruises represents an important
strategic key step in their expansion efforts in the
Chinese market. This is a real win-win partnership: Min
Fan who is the chairman and chief executive officer
of SkySea Cruises told us it’s a great opportunity for all
Chinese travelers as they will take advantage of the
best made-to-measure holidays. There is a strong
probability that SkySea Cruises will be an accelerator
for China's growing cruise market.
Consequently, the new cruise line will begin service in
the middle of 2015 and will operate with one ship.

The arrival of new Bombardier trains in Switzerland is postponed.
The SBB placed an order in 2010 to CHF 1.9 billion for its new fleet
of long-distance train. This order is the largest in the history of the
company.
Delivery and commissioning has been delayed due to design
issues. The first train should come out of the plant in February 2015
and commissioning is scheduled for 2017.
Via Rail: our goal is to improve comfort in our trains
Via Rail company in Canada is undergoing renovation of its trains.
This year the company offers compartments with a bed for 2
people on its flagship Toronto-Vancouver.
The company also wants to facilitate the access of its cars to the

Amadeus new offer for travel agent in UK
British Airways promises to passengers who missed their flights due
to train delays, a seat on another flight and if the flight is planned
for the day after, the company will support the cost of the hotel
night. This type of ticket will be available soon on website
Combined tickets (train and flight) will be available for 11 stations in
United Kingdom.
It allows the people who are living in remote areas without airport
to have a pre-carriage and it can encourage them to travel more.
This offer can be used for business guests and leisure clientele.
Amadeus has called this new offer Rail Display and is a rail
booking tool which makes selling international rail as easy for
travel agents as air travel.
This offer allows travel agents to be more efficient and faster to
make more reservations.
Among the new features, the display shows rates and availability
on the same screen, a graphic mode to facilitate reservations and
the ability to assign seats.
Now with this solution, it is also possible to combine the airplane, hotel and rail on the same PNR.
In addition, travel agents have access to the TGV SNCF rates and this allows them to boost their
sales, because the leisure and business traveller want more and more travelling on high-speed lines.

Airport Helpers
Concept created by Lyon Airports since 2007, which looks like the Greeters concept
(these volunteer residents who guide tourists in their city), Airport Helpers are voluntary,
airport professionals, who serve customers.
Airport helpers are employees of different companies working on an airport (airlines,
security companies, shops, etc.). Their commitment (volunteer and unpaid) is to go in
addition to their work and daily missions, in front of the passengers to help, guide and
educate. "They must be involved in a caring and professional welcome to bring serenity
to passengers."
The concept was also tested at Paris-Orly airport by the end of 2012. More than 500
volunteers, employees of 15 partner companies have applied. After the Paris-Orly airport,
Paris airports extends to Paris-Charles de Gaulle its volunteer network device to better
accommodate passengers.
Since the beginning of the year, Airport Helpers have appeared at Toulouse-Blagnac
airport and the concept is having a great success.
Each Helper Airport is recognizable by its badge “Puis-je vous aider?”, “Can I help you ?”)
(lyon airports), "Happy to Help you" (Paris airports), “Besoin d’aide?”, “Need help?”
(Toulouse airport).
A French initiative with great potential and very popular with passengers!

INNOVATION
Ryanair paperless
cockpits
The low cost airline Ryanair has given to all its pilots “electronic
organizers flights "Apple tablet, which will replace the traditional
flight manuals.
Since 27 November 2014, all the pilots of the Irish specialist
cheap flight use Electronic Flight Bags (EFB) in the cockpits of its
300 Boeing 737-800 new stage of Always Getting Better
program.
They can fully use the Onboard Performance Tool (OPT) - which
includes the take-off performance calculations, and instant
access to the latest electronic flight manuals, that will further
improve time management and productivity, reducing the use
of paper documents.
These two applications are the first of a series of products that
Ryanair will deploy in the coming months, including charts and
electronic load sheets after a test phase and the agreement of
the Irish Aviation Authority
In the coming months, the low-cost plans to remove paper from
the cockpit, eliminating 15kg of manual 15kg from each
cockpit. With more than 550,000 flights operated per year,
Ryanair will achieve fuel savings while eliminating more than 10
million pages of paper documents. Which sets Ryanair as the
most respectful airline environment in Europe?
Bombardier and Siemens used technology
to improve the performance tomorrows
trains.
Both companies are working on technology
solutions to design trains tomorrow.
Currently these companies are many and
test prototypes to make them safer and
more energy efficient trains.
Their main innovations involve a better
distribution of energy, to facilitate the
acceleration and slowing down of the trains,
to have more environmentally friendly
processes and use techniques taking into
account the climate problems.

SUSTAINABLE Development
Costa Releases Sustainability Report
Obviously, at the first sight, cruises companies are not well-seen when we are talking about
environment issues. We are saying that their environmental impact is really huge and also
into the local culture. Fortunately, more and more measures are undertaken to minimize all
disagreements of cruises.
For the period from 2012 – 2013, Costa, which is Europe’s leading cruise company, released
its Sustainability Report, detailing the company's sustainability efforts. It is possible for
everyone to take a look of this report thanks to a full copy which can be downloaded from
the Costa Websites www.costacruise.com.
For ease of reading, the report is split into three main sections, each describing the activities
undertaken, the associated performance indicators and the objectives achieved in terms
of economic results, environmental compliance and social accountability during two years
period.
Costa is really involved with the sustainable development. Is to say that it implemented
various measures to keep its commitment to protect the environment, develop and provide
opportunities for its employees, strengthen its stakeholder relations, enhance the
communities of all stopovers and contribute to local development. For instance, taking
care of the economic and social well-being of the local communities.
The efforts include, among others, the review of cruise routes and the introduction of
energy-saving measures on board led to a reduction in emissions. There are also numerous
projects and initiatives which have been planned to reduce environmental footprint both
at cruise itineraries destinations and in the sea.
Below, you will found some detailed information and figures which can be obtained in the
Sustainability Report :

Unusual
Unusual cruise destination: Alaska
If I ask you about what comes to mind when I say the word ‘cruise’ to
you, certainly you’ll cast your thoughts to sailing on crystal blue seas,
with the sun beating down on you as you travel to a luxury Caribbean
destination, right ?
But, all cruises are not the same. Instead of the crystal blue seas, what
about a jagged iceberg landscape? I’ve already seen your
expression: “ Are you kidding me ? What are you talking about? “.
Well, believe it or not, there are cruises such as these are fast
becoming a popular choice amongst holidaymakers.
So, to show you what I am talking about, take the Alaska destination
that will really turn a cruise experience into a holiday of a lifetime.
Alaskan cruises combine a feeling of isolation with a great sense of
adventure. You will truly appreciate the fact you can sit back and
relax, and enjoy that amazing feeling of being on an adventure that
no one else has ever been on.
Furthermore, you can take in the sights of glaciers, avalanches,
sunlight at midnight and wildlife that include whales, eagles, seals and
wolves. And you can admire the breath-taking beauty of the Rocky
Mountains and go whale watching as you silently edge past the Ice
Age glaciers of Glacier Bay National Park.
Whatever you do, an Alaskan holiday will leave you with magnificent
memories.
This was the case for Katekavia (a
subsidiary of Utair) passengers in Siberia.
Because of the temperature falls, the
passengers of the plane have been used
to help to push the plane on the tarmac.
Their plane had become stuck to the
ground because the temperature
plunged to minus 52 C (-59F). What
could have been taken as a joke ended
well, since passengers have reached
their destination? It is, however, obvious
that they will remember for a long time
that flight.
In transport, sometimes
passengers help
to solve problems
You'll never see public transport in the
same way.
If you want an original wedding, follow
the example of Hector Irakliotis and
Tatyana Sandler. This couple chose to
unite aboard the metro line N of New
York. This line goes to the Brooklyn Bridge
in Manhattan. The ceremony, for she was
more traditional. However, the arrival of
the guests has been carefully thought
because everybody had to be there in
the right time.

BEAUTIFUL STORIES
Special report of the month
What to do with an aircraft out of service, which cannot fly? People do not
lack imagination and here is a glimpse of the most unusual recycling!
What an unusual aircraft recycling!
This splendid 747 first flew under the colors of
Singapore Airlines before being bought in 2006 by
Oscar Dios, a Swedish entrepreneur, who turned into
a hotel on the tarmac of Stockholm airport.
Before becoming a hotel, the aircraft initially suffered
significant work for more than 2 years. Inside the
cabin was dismantled and 450 seats it housed were
evacuated. It now houses a reception, a dining room
with modern decor and 25 rooms, including a luxury
suite in the cockpit with panoramic views of the airport. For business workers, the Jumbo Hostel offers a lounge with
original chairs for meetings and seminars for groups of up to 8 people. In short, a place to
recommend to both amateurs and unusual aviation enthusiasts.
More exotic, in Costa Rica, an old Boeing 727 from 1965
which flew for South African Air and Avianca was
refurbished in hotel. It overlooks the National Park of Costa
Verde at a fixed altitude of 15 meters.
It consists of 2 suites fully equipped and costs about 300-350
dollars per night, which in reality is not very expensive for
this standard.
You will have an exceptional view of the sea and the
beach from the airplane windows and balcony, while
being in the middle of the jungle. An ambience "Lost."
So we had already seen the inn in Sweden and aircraft “Lost” in
Costa Rica, now up to luxury (Hotel Suite) in the Netherlands.
The company HotelSuites repurchased a former aircraft from a
East German airline, Interflug, the Ilyushin, 18 40 meters long, was
transported to Teuge airport and completely restored into a
unique luxury suite.
The aircraft originally belonged to the army of the former East
Germany where he was shuttling with Cuba, the USSR; Vietnam
and China. He carried various political figures including Eric Honecker (former leader of the
former GDR from 1976 to 1912).
Inside it is really luxury, you can find: Three flat screens, DVDs, a modern kitchen, a sauna, a
Jacuzzi, bath and bathrobes, a double bed and a desk. Note that the cockpit was left
unchanged.
1 / Hotel Aircraft
2 / Restaurant Aircraft
Special report of the month
It is not part of the 50 best restaurants in the world but
this rusty Korean Restaurant is still special: it is the first
commercial 747 to have taken off.
He did it for the Pan Am until it was reformed and
where his body ended up mainly in South Korea,
where it flows old days as a restaurant
A Mokpo City, South Korea, this aircraft has changed
function: it no longer flies, but welcomes up to 150
tables since it became a restaurant
3 / Boat Aircraft
Strange as it may seem the Cosmic Muffin is indeed an
old airplane rehabilitated by boat.
But watch this aircraft is not any, it's a Boeing 307
Stratoliner, and the first range of commercial aircraft
built only ten copies in the late 30s before the war
broke out in Europe.
The first owner of the aircraft was none other than the
industrial pioneer of aviation Howard Hughes, who
bought it as part of its acquisition of Trans World Airlines
in 1939 (TWA).
Since this Boeing 307S has continued to change hands
until 1969, during which the aircraft was abandoned,
forsaken in a plane breaks the now unusable plane is saved from rust by Fort Lauderdale a real
estate agent and the pilot Kenneth W. Londres for the modest sum of $ 65.
The two men left the aircraft in the hangar for 4 years with the firm intention to get out a unique
creation in the world. And it was in 1973 that the Cosmic Muffin finally rising from the ashes not to
take off but to sail.
Today in Florida, Cosmic Muffin is not the most beautiful boat in the marina but it is of interest both
for its originality by recycling.
3 / House Aircraft
The 747 Wing House is a unique residential structure
designed from the wings of a Boeing 747-100 aircraft
decommissioned. The project was conducted in 2011 by
the American architect David Hertz Randall, member of
the American Institute of Architects, and his cabinet, the
Environmental Architecture Studio. In collaboration with
his partner Lucas Goettsche, Hertz gathered a team that
was reliable for the project after many years of waiting
on government approvals. The house has been widely
broadcasted internationally because of its unique
design and the use of recycled materials.
