My Dear Friends in Christ,
This weekend’s Gospel exists, in its entirety, as Jesus walks in the Temple teaching. Jesus responds to the constant
questions regarding his identity, namely, whether or not He is the long-expected Messiah.
Consider this Gospel passage, then, not as something in the past, but perhaps as if it happened in real time. Jesus
answers the question, but doesn’t really answer the question:
My sheep hear my voice;
I know them, and they follow me.
In other words, Jesus directs the question back to those around Him:
Do we know Jesus to be the Messiah?
Have we heard his voice?
Do we follow him?
With prayers,
After a great beginning on April 28th, we continue to welcome all Young Adults of the Parish
(College age – 35 years old) to join us for our upcoming Masses for Young Adults:
Sundays May 19, June 23, July 28
7:00 PM in the Chapel
Refreshments will follow in the Church Hall Family, Friends and Neighbors are Welcome!
Memorial Day Mass
Monday, May 27
8:30 am
We want to especially reach out to families
who suffered the loss of a loved one in the Armed Forces,
to all active, reserves and retired members of the Armed Forces,
and to the entire community as we come together
to thank God for the gift of our freedom
and to honor those men, women and their families,
who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend it.
