Lessons learned
1. Technical issues:
a. LAN: for stable operation LAN should not be too small
b. PC: have enough working stations
c. Electricity: arrange for constant supply (generator)
2. Stakeholders
a. Lack of confidence: regular monitoring and management
b. Coordination: clarify each role and responsibilty with clear
command lines, pDOH have to take the lead
c. Communication: keep up regular meetings and communicate
problems as soon as possible
d. Dot printers are not used

3. Human ressources:
a. Lack of IT staff: employ at least 4 IT staff for each hospital
b. IT staff with little medical knowledge: hospital leaders have to be IT
literate
c. IT support not timely: Software provider has to assign 2 staff
members for on site support during first year
4. Capacity Devlelopment (training)
a. 50% of hospital leaders are computer iliterate: train all hospital
management basic computer skills
b. Hospital managers do not know to analyse data: they need training
c. IT Managers have little knowledge on IT administration (Hard-
/software) : they need training
