WELCOME FROM MINERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA

I would like to welcome you all to the 4th edition of the annual Nigeria Mining Week dedicated to mining discourse, interaction and networking for the development of the Nigeria mining industry. It’s a week in which every mining stakeholder in Nigeria and abroad is seen as the vehicle for moving the industry forward and ensuring that the transformation of the industry continues.

The Nigerian mining industry has witnessed some developments within the last two years, especially in the area of improved funding to the sector to implement the Roadmap for Mining Development and addressing the critical challenges of exploration, geophysical and geosciences data, infrastructure, and minefields surveillance.

The above has translated into an improved sectoral contribution to the national GDP and generated interest from foreign and indigenous investors to the industry. There’s need to support the Government in the efforts to create the enabling environment for the growth of this promising industry.

This 4th edition of NMW is structured to be rewarding to all participants; whether you are new to the Nigerian mining industry, a seasoned professional or even, a would-be-miner/investor in the sector; this week of activities will encompass practical business know-how to make your valuable time worth the while in different aspects: Finance Masterclass, international exhibition, two-day strategic conference, SME’s Battlefield competition, mentorship facilitation, technical workshops, networking sessions, solutions and updates on local mining success stories, case studies to promote the country’s mining opportunities and attract investment, exclusive site visit and unlimited connections are some of the key features awaiting participants during the week.

The new leadership of MAN will equally explore the opportunity of the gathering to drive home its vision of continued engagement with stakeholders to enable conducive environment for improved productivity of the average miner through sourcing of friendly funds and equipment, and addressing the critical challenges of insecurity and harassment bedevilling the industry from hoodlums, host communities and the lower tiers of government.

We hope you will join us in taking Nigeria into the global mining arena so as to support the country’s steady movement towards economic diversification.

Alh. Kabir Mohammed Kankara,President, Miners Association of Nigeria.

NIGERIA MINING WEEK

WHY NOW?

A greenfield with 44 mineral types comprising some of the highest grades of minerals of the future.

The commercial value of Nigeria’s solid minerals has been estimated to run into hundreds of trillions of dollars.

The government strategy is to re-establish Nigeria as a competitive mining and mineral processing centre returning to the global export market.

The mining sector is expected to contribute up to 7% to the GDP by 2025 – against 0.3% in 2015.
