180 degree rule The 180 degree rule acts like a line between the two charcters in the scene you must stay on one side of the line to ensure when the characters are having a conersation they actually look like they are looking at each other you may only pass this line in a camera movement, once the camera movement has finished a new line will be created and again you must stick to that side of the line usually it is best to have a establishing shot first to show the audience where your characters are.
