MARCH 11, 2014
DENT THOMPSON, Vice President and COO
Phoenix Air Group, Inc.
Dent Thompson oversees the operations of Phoenix
Air Group as Vice President and Chief Operations Of-
ficer.
Phoenix Air is a unique, international aircraft services
company that offers solutions to a wide variety of air
transportation and related aircraft service needs of in-
dustry and government. With more than 40 aircraft and
more than 200 employees working out of five states
and Europe, Phoenix Air, began as a small air cargo
company, founded by Thompson’s brother Mark.
Working out of spare rooms in Mark’s basement, the
small two-aircraft air cargo company began to grow
and diversify, and move away from traditional air char-
ter activities like passenger charter flights and air car-
go, and began to focus on highly complex government
air services contracts, highly regulated cargo such as
explosives, radioactive materials and weapons systems
transport, and international air ambulance missions.
Thompson began his career as a staff writer at Walt
Disney World. He later became the senior writer with a
move to Assistant to the President of Walt Disney Out-
door Entertainment Division. He worked exclusively
for several years on the massive EPCOT Center con-
struction project, which opened to the public in 1982.
Thompson attended Northside High School, followed
by Andrew College, Georgia State University and Uni-
versity of Central Florida. He has several degrees in-
cluding Mass Communications and Journalism.
