WELCOME to the 2011 NEMO Fair
This is our 64th NEMO Fair. The Fair Board of Directors along with myself hope you come join us at the Fair for one day or the entire week for fun in the sun.
We have kept the rock band on Tuesday night, we feel it is a great addition to the fair. Of course we have moved the parking, so please be patient and the board and volunteers will try to direct you to the correct parking locations. We have kept the trolley for transportation to the gates.
Once you’re at the Fair, enjoy yourself, taste all the delicious food from all the different venders, or something cold to drink. After that, you can visit the animals in the barns and many great projects in the 4-H and FFA building brought to you by many talented young fair goers. Don’t forget about the multipurpose building with the business booths and local talent performing each evening on stage. There are open projects consisting of pictures, gardening, quilting and many more projects that can be enjoyed in the cool air conditioned multipurpose building daily. Nightly events will be held throughout the week in the arena area, so please come and enjoy a good show. Enjoy the rides for all ages at the carnival nightly. We have added a Disney attraction show that will be held in front of the 4-H building Thursday through Saturday.
The NEMO Fair extends our thanks to all the volunteers, businesses, the City of Kirksville and the county emergency personnel, for all the help in making our Fair such a success.
This couldn’t happen without the support of everyone that has helped out in each and every way. So come and be a part of our Fair and make it your Fair. Come have a great and safe week.
Legacy of Yesterday, Promise of Tomorrow 2011

Once you see Trailer Choir in action, you’ll never forget the experience.
Lead singer Butter has the greeting, “Holla!” emblazoned in duct tape on his guitar. And literally rounding out the duo is Big Vinny, a 382-pound guy in overalls who not only sings, but dances, belly-first, down to the ground. The phrases, “high energy,” “good time” and “party hard” don’t do this duo justice. If you’re not having fun at a Trailer Choir show, check your pulse to see if you’re still alive.
Perhaps because of such catchy tunes, few stars are rising as fast. Discovered in 2007 by superstar Toby Keith, Trailer Choir has been performing on his mammoth national tours for the past three years. He featured the group in his 2008 film Beer for My Horses, so Trailer Choir’s “Off the Hillbilly Hook” video featured Toby and the movie’s co-star Willie Nelson. Toby also co-produced their debut CD. In 2009, Trailer Choir exploded on the airwaves with the merry, rollicking “Rockin’ the Beer Gut,” a song that has sold more than a quarter of a million copies. “Last Man Standing” was used by ESPN and ABC in a national NASCAR promotion. In 2010, the filming of its jaunty “Rollin’ Through the Sunshine” video became a feature story in Country Weekly. Their secret?
Born Marc Fortney, Butter grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio, a once booming industrial town that became a great place to call home. He became captivated by music as a teenager. He moved to Middle Tennessee as a college student in 1993 and was soon playing fraternity parties in The Butter Band, which gave him his nickname.
Big Vinny was raised Vencent VanZant Hickerson in the middle Tennessee town of Linden. unlike Butter, he comes from a highly musical family. His late father was once a professional guitarist, and he passed his passion for music along to his children. Big Vinny learned to play guitar in January 2002, and by that March he was writing his first songs. At the time, he was manager of a Sonic in McEwen, TN.
Big Vinny decided to make the big move to Nashville in 2006. Fatefully, he rented an apartment next door to Butter. The two began swapping songs, and a friendship was born. Big Vinny started doing frat-house shows with Butter’s band. Butter dubbed the loose-knit group Trailer Choir.
Toby Keith turned up at a Trailer Choir gig and signed them to his record label in June 2007. Two days later, they were on tour with him, winning over fans night after night. But the members of Trailer Choir don’t actually use the word “fan.”
“You don’t become a ‘fan,’ you become a friend,” says Big Vinny. “That’s what we always say. We feel like everybody we meet, we’re friends with, always.”

It has been ten years since RikeR took the stage for the first time at their hometown talent show in Milan, Missouri. Though lead vocalist/guitarist Stephen Riker and drummer Seth Riker were only eleven years old at the time, they were certain that this was what they wanted to do. They were exposed to music at a very young age by RikeR bassist and father Steve when he joined classic rock band Head East. Today, RikeR performs several times a year in Missouri and surrounding states. They
put on a high-energy show that consists of good time music ranging from the 50s all the way up to present time including original songs penned by Seth and Stephen. To top off the show they always perform the Head East hit “Never Been Any Reason (Save My Life).” RikeR is a band that works hard, plays hard, and has a lot of fun!

Legendary music icons, THREE DOG NIGHT, celebrate their 4th decade bringing with them songs of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years of 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets. THREE DOG NIGHT’s hits wind through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures.
This Grammy-nominated band is not content resting on their legacy alone. Always working to expand their audience, THREE DOG NIGHT have embraced and been embraced by 21st century music technology. New fans buy THREE DOG NIGHT’s music on iTunes as well as at record stores. In fact, their releases from this decade alone have sold over a million copies. On websites such as Facebook, Myspace, Last.fm, iLike, and Bebo, THREE DOG NIGHT have gained millions of music plays.
THREE DOG NIGHT also pushed boundaries by recording with the London Symphony Orchestra, giving fans new and old a chance to experience their dynamic performances of the hits. They maintain an aggressive, year-round touring schedule of over 80 dates a year. Their well-loved hits plus some amazing new songs are performed for audiences spanning generations, by founding members Cory Wells and Danny Hutton on lead vocals, as well as original keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon and guitarist Michael Allsup. Paul Kingery (bass and vocals) and Pat Bautz (drums) complete the lineup.
Originally formed in 1968, the group was enormously successful from the start. Danny Hutton, who was a writer/producer at Hanna Barbera Records as well as a solo artist, met Cory Wells, lead singer of The Enemys which was the house band at the Whisky A Go-Go, while they were both touring with Sonny and Cher. The now-famous name came from a story about Australian aborigines who, on cold nights in the outback, sleep with their dogs for warmth. The coldest evenings are known as “three dog nights”.
Boasting chart and sales records that are virtually unmatched in popular music, THREE DOG NIGHT had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including 3 number 1 singles, 11 Top 10’s, 18 straight Top 20’s, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. Their hits appear on best selling charts in all genres (pop, rock, and country).
The band toured extensively in the late 60’s and into the 70’s, but in 1977, the non-stop concerts and hit-making took its toll. According to Cory Wells, “we just quietly backed out of the picture”. Their desire to “get away” from the hectic world of pop music was relatively short-lived however, and by 1981 they discovered that they wanted to perform again. “The old magic was still there”, noted Danny. Audiences agree.
Now, as they mark 40 years on the road, THREE DOG NIGHT continue to grow their fan base and develop new ways of doing business. In 2010 they are pursuing an extensive schedule of concerts at theatres, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, they have performed over 2,000 shows including two Super Bowls.

Jason BrownWednesday, July 20, 2011
Opening for Tracy Lawrence
Jason Brown started at the young age of four singing in his church. With musical influences from Elvis Presley, Jim Reeves, Kenny rogers, George Strait, and Sawyer Brown’s Mark Miler, Jason learned many different styles and combined them all into his own unique voice. It is apparent that Jason has a large, growing fan base, culminating in Jason’s first CD released in early April, 2006. This summer, Jason will be headlining country fairs across the Midwest. With his debut CD, a growing fan base,
and his determination, it is obvious that Jason is the total package.

With the release of FOR THE LOVE, Tracy Lawrence adds a rich new chapter to one of modern country’s most impressive legacies. He has produced 18 number ones and at least 20 top 10 hits, Tracy is recognized as one of his generation’s most important artists.
As the first step along his new career path, FOR THE LOVE begins on a base firmly planted in Tracy’s love and appreciation for classic country. “I think this record is a little bit more retro,” he says. “There’s a lot more traditional country on this record, and some things reflective of my own early success.” As a man
for whom every decision, artistic or business, is one to be taken seriously.
Tracy’s road life recently included participation in George Strait’s tour as well as dates of his own, and included, as always, his continued passion for charity work for the Tracy Lawrence Foundation, raising awareness for Alzheimer’s research in his role on the national advisory board, and the newly organized annual Tracy Lawrence Mission Possible Thanksgiving turkey fry for the homeless.
Although he’s focusing more of his time on his family, as daughters Skylar JoAnn and Mary Keagan grow up, Tracy still loves climbing up on that tour bus and taking to the road to entertain country music fans across the united States. “This is still fun to me. I love creating new music and performing for my fans on stage as much as I ever have. My fans are amazing loyal,” he adds. “They’ve been with me for a long time, many since the release of my very first record. It’s a friendship and connection that’s difficult to define. They’re like my extended family. They’ve laughed when I’ve laughed and hurt when I’ve hurt. As we launch this chapter, I hope they’re as enlightened by listening to this new record as I was by selecting and recording these songs especially for them.”
