When you are looking for a good per-
son to work for you, you need someone
who could manage his anger. if you
have another employee who made a mis-
take the one that can’t control his anger
will get mad and yell. But, you don’t
want to deal with complaining workers.

One time, we went out to get pizza. One
boy tripped and fell on another boy who
was eating a slice of pizza. When the boy
who tripped got up, the boy who was eat-
ing pizza looked at his shirt. There was
a huge sauce stain
on his white shirt
and his pants. The
boy who fell got
up and looked at
the mess he caused
feeling embar-
rassed. The quality
of anger manage-
ment helped this
boy overcome his
anger. After the
boy who tripped
said sorry, the boy
did not scream.
He said, “It’s fine.
it wasn’t your
fault.” Because this boy controlled his
anger, this made both boys feel good.

One time, my friend and i were really ex-
cited because he got the new iPod touch.
We started playing on it and eventually
we got tired. so we took a break to get
water. When we came back, we started
playing again and then,
by mistake, i spilled my
water on the iPod. We
tried turning it on be-
cause it shut off and we
figured it was broken.
i immediately apolo-
gized and he forgave
me and didn’t get mad
at all. The next day, he
tried turning it on again
and, to our surprise, it
turned back on. i think
that’s a great quality.
And, he even got re-
warded by having his
iPod work again.

i think my friend, Joe, has good anger
management. When i built something
out of Lego with him, i went to get
some soda and accidentally knocked
it over. i saw he worked very hard on
it and put a lot of time into it, still, he
did not get angry. Then we rebuilt it and
he wasn’t angry at me the whole time.

little sister. Her sister always tries to an-

becomes mad very easily. so, every time
her sister bothers her, she yells and hits
her. Of course, her sister cries and she
gets punished from her mother. she re-

At first, when her sister annoyed her,
she tries to stay put and control herself.
But, her anger comes out and the same
thing happens again and again. The girl
didn’t want to give up. she was deter-

held her anger in and her sister finally
stopped. The girl was so happy with
herself and what she accomplished.

Dedicated in Loving Memory of
Saul E. Ashkenazi A”H
Throughout his life, our Grandfather,
Mr. Saul E. Ashkenazi A”H, truly dedicated himself
to his family, business, and community organizations.
My grandfather taught me to always be posi-tive and to see the glass half full. He taught me the power of my mind and how positivity can change my life. Every single day I think about that and try to live like that. I’ll never forget the day I wasn’t feeling myself and I was complain-ing and my grandfather looked me in the eyes and told me “Sally, you must be positive, do you know how powerful your mind is! You can ac-complish anything and overcome challenges if you stay strong and always see the glass as half full!” I really try to be like he was and sometimes I feel my grandfather’s energy inside of me re-minding me to be thankful and appreciative and strong and that makes me feel so grateful. - Sally & Joey Betesh
Our Grandfather was involved in numerous charities and Jewish institutions, including the donation of the land where Hillel Yeshiva stands and flourishes, being a key donor to launch Yeshiva University’s scholarship fund, a co-Founder of the Jewish Communal Fund, a true supporter and advocate of the UJA and Israeli Bonds, and the architect of the Ohel Yaakov Synagogue and Shaare Zion building expansion. We will always remember our Grandfather in our hearts and minds and will never forget the many life-lessons we’ve learned from him such as honesty, integrity, hard work, community ser-vice, and family values.- Saul E. & Joyce AshkenaziAlbert, Isaac and Jack Ashkenazi
My Grandfather was always my hero and my role model. I learned so much about life, love, educa-tion, and religion from him. I am truly blessed to have had such a special person in my life.- Sally & Michael Franco
My Grandfather was my superhero, my protector, and my teacher. As my role model, my Grandpa Saul inspired my business work ethic and philan-thropic character. For as long as I can remember, Saul E. Ashkenazi A’’H emphasized the impor-tance of honesty, passion, commitment, diligence, and charity work to my siblings and me. I consider the example set by his actions, and not simply his instructions, the prime inspiration for my develop-ing perspective, character, and work ethic towards both business and philanthropy.- Isaac J. Kassin
Grandpa Saul was a great source of strength and inspiration to me and my family. With his life long lessons he has taught us to be generous and love your fellow man. He will always be in our hearts forever.- Sally & Allen Smouha

it’s very important to shine in your own
way. Paula is a very good dancer. At par-
ties, everyone watches her dance and
compliments her on how she dances. Her
best friend, sally, was not such a good
dancer but also
wanted compli-
ments. she started
taking dance class-
es. However, she
had no time for
her favorite hobby,
singing. she really
missed singing,
but she wanted
compliments. One
day, sally and
Paula were danc-

a couple of other
friends. When the
music went off,
sally started singing. everyone com-
plimented her on her beautiful voice.
sally stopped dance classes and start-
ing singing more. sally realized that
she had her own talent, a great voice,
and that was her gift from Hashem.
don’t ignore your gift and copy some-

As technol-
ogy is advanc-
ing and trends
are changing,
it becomes
harder for
people to be
happy with
their own
p o s s e s s i o n .
You walk into a school and a girl has a
new bracelet or a new pair of shoes. The
next day, half of the grade has the same
pair of shoes. The Rabbis say, “Who
is the one that’s rich?” The answer is,
“The person who is happy with what
he has.” Unfortunately, not many peo-
ple are on this level of happiness. As of
2012, the iphone 4s is on the market...
A majority of
society tries
to fit in. We
do things to fit
in at any cost
- whether it’s
dieting, plas-
tic surgery or
spending cra-
zy amounts
of money on a party. We just want to be
happy. is that true happiness, though?
What’s the meaning of happiness? it
comes from within. We don’t feel pres-
sured just by friends and peers, though.
it also comes from the home. if your
sister is a genius, a valedictorian and a
straight A student, you might feel pres-
sured to study so hard, because you com-
pare yourself to her. Your other sister is
a fashionista. sometimes, she makes fun
of your style. You try to go on a shopping
spree and dress like her. You figure, this
will make you happy. no! This will make
you miserable. You need to try hard to
achieve your goals, your dreams. so what
if you are not super smart. study and do
your best. Your skills don’t need to be
compared to others’ skills. Your style
defines you. Dressing to impress your
sister or others isn’t you. Be yourself.
show your potential. don’t be a fake,
but be genuine. Be true to others. And,
most importantly, be true to yourself.

There is this one big party coming up
and the host is the most popular girl in
school. everyone was going to buy a
dress so they can impress. They all went
to Bloomingdale’s where they have the
most expensive dresses. One girl named
emily wasn’t as popular. she tried fol-
lowing all of the girls to Bloomingda-
le’s. she found a $3,000 dress that she
couldn’t afford. Her parents didn’t let her
buy it. instead, she went with her parents
to a cheaper store. she found a much
prettier dress than everyone else at the
party. emily ended up looking the best.
Be happy with what you have. don’t show
it off to be cool. Let’s say, samantha has a
Mac and now she’s suddenly popular, the
only 6th grader with a Mac. now, suzy
wants a Mac so she could be popular. she
only has a dell computer. she begs and
begs and her mom finally buys her one.
But, now a majority of the grade has one
so it’s not such a special thing. People
now have the new Mac when she just con-
vinced her mom to get the old one. every-
one makes fun of her and now she is em-
barrassed. You see what happens? Why
does a 6th grader need a Mac? Because
everyone else has it, she wants to fit in.
When someone tells you that they don’t
like something about you, it’s like receiv-
ing a slap in the face. it hurts your self
esteem. This past year, everyone got Pen-
ny skateboards. Literally, everyone has
them. When someone sees that someone
else is riding them, they
want to get the same penny
board immediately. every-
one is following the trend
even though they don’t
even know how to ride it.
i don’t want to buy one be-
cause i don’t want to fol-
low the crowd. You want
to be a leader, not a fol-
lower. Be strong. Be your-
self! You won’t regret it!

Jennifer, Joyce and Jacqueline were three
popular girls. every week, they got some-
thing new. But they didn’t each get a dif-
ferent thing. They all got the same thing.
One day, there was a new girl in school. On
her 3rd day, she met the girls. They were
very mean to her and she had no friends.
On Monday, they wore something new
that they all bought. she asked her mom
to buy it for her as well. After she wore it,
everyone laughed at her instead of com-
plimenting her. she went home crying.
Her mom asked her, “What’s wrong?”
she said, “everyone laughed at me in-
stead of complimenting me.” Her mom
said, “i have a good idea.” They went
back to the clothing store and her mom
told her, “Pick out whatever you like.
My best friend has an iphone and
everyone is giving her attention. i
asked my parents if they can give
me $600 to buy an iphone. My mom
said, “You don’t really want it. You
just want it because she has it.” That’s
when i realized to be myself and
not copy anyone else. Maybe your
friends have cool things. it doesn’t
matter because you have many cool
things as well. You don’t need to
have what other people have. You
should have what you really want.

want to be. Be yourself, don’t be shy!

You should always be yourself. One day, a
new girl came to school. noone knew who
she was. everyone at lunch was crowd-
ing all around her. All the girls were tell-
ing her, “i love your shirt,” and other stuff
that she wore. The popular girl was sitting
by herself, was very jealous. The next
day, the popular girl copied the new girl
so everyone would like her outfit and not
the new girl’s. The new girl went over to
the popular girl and said, “i like your style.
But, why did you copy me?” The popu-
lar girl said nothing. she realized that you
shouldn’t copy people. it doesn’t make
you happy. You should always be yourself.
in life, it’s very important to be your-
self and be happy with what you have.
Maybe, Hashem wanted one family to be
wealthier than the other. Unfortunately,
this happens every day. People are always
comparing what others have to what they
have and are not happy with what they
have. sarah begged her mom to get her an
iphone 4s. Her mother couldn’t afford it.
All her friends had it. she felt she needed
it to fit in. Her mother finally gave in and
got her the iphone 4s. she was so excit-
ed to show all her friends. The next day,
when she wanted to go to show all her
friends, esther walked in with the iphone
8s. if sarah keeps on comparing herself to
others, she would never be happy and just
wouldn’t be herself. Be happy with what
you have and you will always be happy.
One day, a girl named Michelle intro-
duced UGGs to everyone. The next day,
everyone had UGGs of all different col-
ors and designs. One girl couldn’t buy be-
cause she couldn’t afford it. There were
other brands that looked
the same but, since they
weren’t UGGs, she didn’t
want them. A month later,
her mom told her to wear
her Bearpaw boots and ev-
eryone loved those boots.
They all went to buy it.
she was so happy that
she started her own trend.

When i went out for lunch with all my
friends, they all were getting salads be-
cause it’s not fattening. i was not in the
mood for salad. And, i decided i don’t
care what they think. i was in the mood for
pasta. i will be the only one eating pasta
and they can get salad. i don’t have to fol-
low them. if i ended up getting the salad,
I wouldn’t be satisfied and I would still be

That’s why you should get what you want.

Most of my friends are amazing. But,
one thing that i don’t like about them is
that they are not always honest, except
for one. This one friend is loyal and hon-

and everyone in our class did it because
they copied off each other.
The next day in school
our teacher asked, “Who
didn’t do the homework?”
My friend was the only
one who said she didn’t do
the homework. That day
she got a zero in home-
work. The whole class
appreciated her honesty
with the teacher. i realized
what a great person she is.
A teacher assigned a book report and it’s
due in two weeks. The day before it’s due,
Bella remembered that she didn’t do it yet.
So, to finish it, she just copied a chapter
from the book. The next day, she gave it in
and got an “A” which was the best mark
in the class. Bella really felt bad because
she cheated. so, she told her teacher what
she had done. Because of her honesty,
the teacher let he redo the book report.

thing she never did. Lauren knew how
much in trouble sarah would be. Lauren
said the truth- that it was her fault and not
sarah’s. Lauren got into a lot of trouble.
But, deep in her heart, she was happy
that she said the truth. Lauren’s honesty
is what makes her a good friend to have.

An inner quality that my friend has is
honesty. One day, i was by my friend’s
house. i left my phone by her house and
asked her to please not touch it. When i
got back, i saw that she didn’t touch my
phone. it was in the exact place where i left
it. now, i know that i can always trust her.

A great example of honesty is when i am
in class and i was talking to someone else
and the teacher gets the other person in
trouble. i can’t just make the other person
get in trouble. i have to be honest and tell
the teacher that it was me that was talking
and i have to get in trouble instead of him.

Frustration is something we all deal with
on daily basis. An example of frustra-
tion for me would be when i don’t get
the mark on a math test that i expected or
wanted, even if i studied the whole night.
The truth is, a lot of
things go wrong –
all the time. But,
i think it’s impor-
tant to move on.
This is because
if i was always
thinking about that
bad mark i would
never be able to
do anything suc-
cessful and my
self esteem would
drop to zero. That
can happen. But,
take it as a les-
son. Try appreciat-
ing all your other
marks and that will make you feel bet-
ter. Also, start realizing that not ev-
erything will always go exactly as
planned. When things like that happen,
understand that is what’s best for you.

When i was doing a science project with
my friends, they were very confident in
themselves and said, “if you believe in
yourself, you could win.” i really liked
their positive attitude. They were pre-

They had good time management; they
did 30 minutes a day on the project
and were very organized. That’s why
i wanted to do this project with them.

Malky went over to her friend shaindy
after school on Tuesday. When they got
there, Malky was amazed. in her house,
shaindy had her own music room full of
instruments which she played. shaindy
showed her all of them
and played it for her.
Malky was jealous.
shaindy had so many
musical talents. Malky
went back home not
too happy. she told
her mother what had
happened. Malky’s
mother didn’t know
what to do. she just
kept on listing all the
things she did well
like, writing, drawing,
dancing and so much
more. Malky then re-
alized not to be jeal-
ous of other people’s
talents because everyone has their own.
everyone is good at something. Hap-
piness is not something like vacations,
new toy, brand name clothing or money.
Happiness is something that lasts forever.

i think that having a positive attitude is a
very important trait to have. if someone
has a positive attitude, he will never give
up on a situation, no matter how difficult
it might be, and will look at a bad situa-
tion in a good way. Let’s say there is a guy
who works for a business and the business
goes out of business. He could look at it
as if his life is over and he will become
poor or he can look at it like he will find
a new job and maybe even a better job.

Once, my friend was in a horrible mood

mood and enjoyed the rest of the day.

“Will i ever become popular?” One day,

at lunch. They were talking to her, laugh-

finally felt a slight feeling of popularity.
Over the next week, she kept feeling more
popular. The next week, shira realized
her old friends started ignoring her. Then,
the following week, shira’s new popular
friends stopped talking to her. she felt
like she was thrown in the garbage. she
was heartbroken. All she thought now
was what i have done? This wasn’t real
happiness! Her real happiness was her
real, old, non popular friends. is it even
that important to be popular? All shira
wanted now was her old friends back.

One day, a girl walked into school with
a happy face. When she got to her math
class, she got one of her quizzes back.
she was not happy with her grade. she
got a 62. she did feel bad inside but she
didn’t show it. When she went to her
next class, she tripped and fell on her
hand. She ended up in the nurse’s office
with a bad hand and a 62 on a math quiz.
Apparently, this was not her day. When
she got back, it was lunch time. she sat
down and realized that she had forgotten
her lunch at home. Her friend sat down
next to her, “Today is not your day,” she
said. “What are you talking about?” “You
got a bad grade in math, tripped and for-
got your lunch.” “Oh, well, that was in
the morning. Hopefully, afternoon will

be better.” she is positive person. she
sees the upside in every situation.
When shira walked into her house, it was
awfully quiet, too quiet. “Why can’t my
family have fun,” she thought to herself.
Her sisters were busy studying for the up-
coming tests and her brother was buried
under his book. “do you want to play a
game?” shira asked her brother. “nah,”
said her brother not looking up from his
book. “All my friends have such fun
families, while mine is so boring,” shira
thought. However, soon shira realized
she was lucky to have siblings who cared
for her and looked up to her. some kids in
her class didn’t have siblings or, if the did,
they always got into fights and arguments.
“Thank you Hashem,” she said. she now
realized the gift of having good siblings.

Two boys come home after school. Abie
goes home and eats dinner then goes
straight to his room to play Xbox. danny,
comes home and goes straight to do his
homework. Abie, is lazy and danny is re-
sponsible. You may
think that danny
is used to doing
this and it’s just a
routine. But, it’s
really not. danny
faces challenges of
doing other things
such as going on
Facebook, talking
with his friend on
the phone, playing
a video game or
going to play with
his friends outside.
The two kids will
grow older and
eventually have jobs. danny will be the
man that is on time and ready to work
while Abie’s habits still remain. Your
habits while you are young will contrib-
ute to how you live your life when you
are older, even the simplest habits. if you
train yourself to do homework first, you
will be able to own a successful business

it’s a known fact that self discipline leads
to success. if you learn how to control
your biggest urges, you are bound to be
successful. For instance, many people
nowadays are constantly texting, send-
ing BBM’s, tweets and instagram. if you
control yourself not to send a message,
you’ll learn to become more disciplined.
sending instant messages can lead to
Lashon Hara. Therefore, it is important
to control the amount of time you spend
on technological devices and you’ll be-
come more successful in your future.
By: Sabr ina Abrah imMagen David Yeshivah
The first important inner quality that
comes to my mind is patience. With
technology today, almost everything is
instantaneous or at least expected to be.
Just like when someone tries to watch a
video, people get frus-
trated when they wait
only an extra minute.
Today, people need to
remember just how it
used to be before our
advanced technology.
Like when a kid tries
to learn how to ride
a bike, he might fall
several times before he
gets it just right. The
key is not to get frus-
trated, but to develop
the self discipline and
patience or he won’t
learn anything.

discipline. The word alone has so much
power, so much meaning. self discipline
might have the most power and ability to
get you somewhere far in life. From lim-
iting your ice cream
to holding back
your anger, self
discipline goes far.
To me, the most
important type of
self discipline is
time management.
When someone is
looking for em-
ployment, they
do not want to
hire someone for
a job if they do
not know how to
get stuff done due
to the lack of the
time discipline. if someone else is apply-
ing for the job and they have a set sched-
ule in their mind and discipline them-
selves to follow it to get all the chores
done, they will get much more done
and probably will get the job. self dis-
cipline is an essential value that i hope
to achieve. it can get you very far in life.
it will lead you to continuous success.

Discipline yourself to get things Done
We have a big test on Friday. The day af-
ter the test was assigned, we all got an
invitation to a birthday party that was
on Thursday night. i asked my friend
how she was going to
study for the test. she
said, “Who cares? A
party is so much bet-
ter. i’ll study Friday
morning, right before
the test. And, anyway,
it’s an easy test.” That
night, i decided that i
will study little by lit-
tle from Monday until
Wednesday and i will
be done. And on Thurs-
day, all i will need to
do is just to review.
My mother told me
that was a smart thing
to do, to spread studying in several days.
When we got our tests back, i got 100%
and my friend got 35%. i was happy that
i managed my time correctly. Hopefully
she will do the same for the next test.

He comes home, starts his homework
and, if he doesn’t finish before 5:30pm,
he eats dinner and then continues to do
his homework. He then showers. He stud-
ies for all of his tests for that week, then
plays until 15 minutes before his bed-

On Friday, i had a big test. i was really pres-
sured because i was running out of time.
On Wednesday, i had no time and didn’t
know what to do. so, i called my friend,
danielle, and asked her how she was
managing. danielle said she knew about
the final from a week ago so she studied
the whole weekend. she took 10 minutes
every day to review. When i took my test,
i didn’t do so well. My teacher said that
we had a final the following week. Over
the weekend, i studied and reviewed ev-

test on Friday, i got 100. i was so proud.

People face all different challenges. it
is important to realize the challenge you
face and to try to find a way to over-
come it. For instance, some people may
have bad eating habits. The first step is
to realize it. Pay attention to what your
body consumes. What helped me is not
eating dinner while watching TV. By do-
ing that, i began to realize when i am
full and i stopped eating the food that’s
in front of me. sometimes, it helps to
ask yourself if you are really hungry and
not just eating because you are bored.
There are many ways to deal with your
challenges. You just have to find a way.

You have opportunity to discipline your-
self every day. One time, during class, i
was listening to my teacher and i heard
someone whispering my name. But, i
ignored my friend and stayed focused.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU HAVE TO GET
OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
A beautiful Monday morning. it’s a sun-
ny day and your mother just told you to
wake up for school. You said the night
before that you would get up right away.
it’s 10 minutes later and you still didn’t
get up. What is
this? This is giving
in to your temp-
tations and lack
of self discipline.
self discipline is
very important for
a few good rea-
sons. One reason
is that no one will
trust you after a
while because
they know you
already and that
you won’t commit
yourself. so, they
won’t take chanc-
es. Another reason is for yourself;
you will grow up doing the things
you want and not think about the con-
sequences but only your pleasure
which could have consequences later.

There are many traits that can describe
a person. A person can show his intel-
ligence by thinking about a math prob-
lem in his head and not use a calcula-
tor to get the answer. One kid had a
math problem that he thought he didn’t
learn. He took time to think about it and
didn’t use a calculator to solve the prob-
lem. even if it took longer to solve it.
His perseverance will help him in life.
By: Mark HazanMagen David Yeshivah
Why does a person fall? so they can get
back up again. Life has its ups and downs.
it’s not a straight ride. so, if someone tries
to have self discipline, they should not
give up. if they fall, they just get back up
again and not give up.
“Yawn, just another
sunday morning,” i
think when i woke
up. “i could just stay
and lie here all day,”
i think while snug-
gling up in my blan-
ket. “it’s 11am and
i’m the only one who
is still in bed and not
up. But why should i?”
i think. “it’s sunday, a
no-school day and it’s
just sooo cozy here…”
Laziness is some-
thing that destroys
our generation. if someone has self
discipline and gets up that sunday,
it might not seem like the winning
choice at that time, but, later on, you
will see how much you really gained.

are getting
shoes called
“Toms”. At
first I wanted
to get them.
But, now
i realize
that i didn’t
want to get them because i liked them. i
tricked myself into thinking that i wanted
them. That’s when I first realized that I
don’t even like them and the only reason
that i wanted them was because every-
one had them. if i got them, i wouldn’t
even be happy. i learned that in order
to be happy you need to be yourself
and that people will like you if you be
yourself and not copy of everyone else.

With all the
t e c h n o l o g y
we have these
days: Com-
puter, ds’s ,
phones. We
want them but
that does not
mean that we
need them. And, as much as you say you
don’t even have temptation, you naturally
do. But, if you measure your Pro’s and
Cons, let us see what happens. The pros
of having computer and iPods: enjoy-
ment and relaxation. The cons: no exer-
cise, wasting time you could’ve studied,
weight gain, no socializing. so what do
you think? do you really need them all?

studying for
her Chumash
test for to-
morrow and
she wants to
take a little
break. so, she
tells herself,
“Ok, i am only going to take a 5 min-

longer break, then she is going to keep
pushing the studying off which even-
tually will lead to no studying at all.

On shabbat, i always love to look my
best. so, i always iron my hair . i started
noticing that i had dead ends in my hair.
My sister told me, “if you keep on iron-
ing your hair, it will be rough and dry”.
i told her to hide the iron from me. But,
she said, “no, i want you to have self
control. i am not always going to be here
to stop you.” From then on, i stopped.

Coming home from a hard day of school
with a lot of homework to do, Miri was
exhausted. she gazed at her library book
sitting on the couch staring back at her
saying, “Come on. You are almost done
reading me! You
love to read.” Then
Miri’s knapsack
caught her eyes. if
she did her home-
work, she would
read after and do
well on her Chu-
mash test tomor-
row. should she
finish reading her
book? Or, maybe,
she should do her
homework first?
Miri started to lift
up her knapsack
and head upstairs
to her room. When once again she saw her
book, Miri scrunched her eyes shut as not
to even see her book and ran upstairs. Fi-
nally, when her homework was finished,
she sat down on the couch with her book.
she made the right choice. everyday
you are facing decisions. Right choice
today means better future tomorrow.

i have a friend who is a good person who
i would hire to work for my family busi-
ness. This person is a good person be-
cause if he has homework, he would not
stop until it’s done and correct. He is also
hard working. When
his father tells him to
do something, he does
not let his father work
and he does it all by
himself. He is a person
who can get something
and memorize it easily.
When he has a test, he
studies from when his
homework is finished
until he goes to sleep.
You could also count
on him to come on
time. sometimes, he is
even early for shacha-
rit, Mincha and Arbit.
My Yetzer Hara is video games. I fight
it by asking my brother to hide the
control. But, i found it and i contin-
ued playing. so, i ended up giving it
to my mom and i couldn’t play till i
finished my homework. It felt great to
be strong and make the right choice.

One time, I was studying for a final
that i was going to have the next day.
My phone kept on ringing and it was
my friend. i wanted to answer but i
couldn’t because I had to pass the final.
i was focused and i did the right thing.

Let’s say you have a great Lashon Hara to
tell your friends. it is so interesting that
you can’t handle yourself. You think to
yourself that if i tell this news, everyone
will be my friend. You will be popular.
so, you go on and you say your juicy
Lashon Hara. You are so relieved that you
said it. First, everyone thinks that it’s so
interesting. But, then, they realize what
a bad thing you did. They start backing
away from you. day by day, you start
losing friends. now, you realize what
you did. You start to reflect. “Oh, if only I

Discipline yourself to watch what you say
some people know how to watch what
they say and some don’t. Leslie was be-

my mind. if i would have said Lashon

worse for me. But, i didn’t. The Yetzer

fought it back! it’s tempting to give in

The fact is there are many Bar-Misvah boys in our
community whose families can’t even afford basic
necessities let alone buy a pair of tefilin.
The Community Tefilin Fund was set up to make sure
every boy gets a kosher pair of tefilin.
What makes this fund special, is that it is supported by
bar-misvah boys who contribute their gift money maaser.
Enhance your celebration by donating to this important cause so that another
boy like you gets to fulfill this great misvah as well.
Mazal Tov to you on your Bar-Misvah and in the merit of your support may Hashem
grant you and your family health, wealth, and many more happy occasions.
