NEWS section of Summer Training.

Course Assignments

All first round selections have been completed. Those cadets who were
selected have been informed.
For those Cadets what have not been selected, they have been placed
on a waitlist by priority and gender for the next available opening for
courses of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.
IF another course outside these choices appears and the Staff feel this
would be a good option, you will be called.
Course Selections can come in right up to the final departure date of
July 1/July 8. So it is best to be prepared with a bag.

Each Cadet will be issued a summer camp uniform (t-shirt, shorts, hat, running shoes)
Only summer uniform required (no tunics unless identified in joining instructions/Kit List, remove rank and name tags)
Take only what the kit list specifies.
Don’t take anything valuable. IPODS, MP3 Players, Laptops, etc…..

Cell Phones are generally accepted for use in non-training hours. Cadets must sign in their phones upon arrival.

Most cadets will be sent to camp on a bus. The location is still to be confirmed.
Will be Notified by Summer Training Coordinator and posted on the website.
We will get transportation orders about 1-2 weeks prior to your camp departure date.
All Cadets must be dressed in their summer uniform (wedge, pants and shirt only, no tunic and tie). Please remove rank slip-ons and name tags.
Some Cadets will be sent via other methods to their out of province destination (e.g. Air, Train, Bus) . These cadets will be issued individual travel orders by summer camp officer.

To Board the Bus
Must have their health card (not a copy).
Must have a completed Cadet Transportation Form. (think of
this as your bus ticket)
This form tells the summer training location if the cadet requires
transportation home or if parent/guardian intends to pick up your
daughter/son at the conclusion of camp.
If this changes after the cadet starts camp, please contact the training
centre or myself with the changes.
Changes to Leave Restrictions

If you need to change who can sign out a cadet from their
summer training centre, the cadet Leave Authorization
Form must be completed and sent to the Summer Training
Centre prior to visit.
If you are not sure who you authorized then complete the
form with the names you desire and send it with the cadet.
The Form may be found on the Chadburn Website Under
Summer Training Forms.

Other Forms to Consider

Personal Items Form – if you are allowing the cadet to
take items that are above the prescribed kit list.
Over the Counter Medication Form – for any
medication being sent with the cadet other than those
documented on their Medical Questionnaire.
Smoking Permission Form – if you are giving a cadet
consent to smoke (some centre’s don’t allow this), We don’t
recommend this.
Code of Conduct – each cadet will need to complete this
upon arrival at camp.
At Camp

Your first day at camp, your bags will be searched for any prohibited items.
If your summer kit doesn’t fit, notify your team commander who will arrange for an exchange at base supply.
If you sent a cell phone, you will be asked to sign this in with the office. (cadets can use these on no training times but must resign them back in). We suggest you send a calling card only, leave your cell phones at home.
Each Cadet will be given a training bonus of $60 per week. This is paid based on the training course duration. A Cadet account is setup for access to these funds for incidental purchases.
Some outside activities will require a nominal fee which can be paid from the training bonus. It is the cadets decision to attend these events.
Parent Visits

Parents are allowed to visit cadets during their camp stays with certain restrictions/exceptions. Parents must have valid Photo ID and must be listed on the summer offer.
Trenton General Training(2 weeks) cadets are not allowed to leave the camp.
3 week courses, cadet can only leave camp on Sundays with an approved pass
Parents may visit Mon-Sat between 1830 and 2030 hours. Cadet can’t leave the camp.
Blackdown 3/6 week courses, cadet can only leave camp after 1700 Monday to Saturday an
approved pass

Graduation

Parents are welcome to attend. We will post the locations and Times on the Chadburn Website.
Held on the last day of camp.
Please refer to the joining instructions for driving instructions. If you are not sure, contact the number referenced.
Remember if you want to take your daughter/son home with you after graduation, your cadet transportation form must indicate this….. If this changes ,please notify the number in the joining instructions.

Ensure that your son/daughter has any medication identified in the medical
questionnaire completed at the start of the year.
If there are any changes to the cadets health status please make sure you relay this
to the summer training centre.
Male cadets
must have their hair cut to standards
no earrings
Female cadets
do not have to cut their hair, but must be off their collar. Hair must be one colour
no makeup, nail polish, costume jewelry
one pair of earrings while in uniform
Smoking is allowed only on Parents Permission
If you are RTU’d for disciplinary reasons it can affect your chances for a
future summer camp.
