Welcome to the 2013-2014 Season!
Dear Blue Hen Friends and Family:
Welcome to another exciting season with the University of Delaware Fightin' Blue Hen Hockey program! We are glad that you have joined us for another exciting season of the fastest game on campus! We value you -- our family, fans, and supporters -- because you encourage and challenge us to be the elite hockey program in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).
Despite ending the 2012-2013 season a few wins short of defending their National Championship, the Blue Hens are gearing up for their 2013-2014 Season.
The team has much to look forward to this season including their home opener against the United States Naval Academy on Friday September 20th. The team will then travel to West Virginia, Stony Brook, and then Strongsville, Ohio for the annual ACHA Showcase. Following a weekend off, the team will face an important three-game west coast weekend as they travel to play two games at Arizona State and one game against University of Arizona. The Blue Hens continue their road trip as they travel to the University of Rhode Island and the Liberty University Flames; always difficult environments to win on the road. The will close out the 2013 calendar year with four consecutive home and home series against West Chester, Lebanon Valley, Rutgers University and Lebanon Valley once again, respectively.
After returning from the Christmas and New Year’s break, the team will play a home and home series against West Chester and then have a three weekend home stand as they host the University of Rhode Island, Stony Brook, and Liberty, all of which will be vital weekends. The Blue Hens will finish their regular season with another home and home series against Rutgers before traveling to Syracuse. The following weekend the team will battle for their first ESCHL League Playoff Championship as they travel to Stony Brook University, who will not only be defending their title, but will also be hosting the championship event this year.
In March the ACHA National Tournament will begin and your host, the University of Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens, will begin their campaign to win their second National Championship in program history.
We would like to thank our alumni, club members, family, friends, and fans who have made the last 40+ years a reality! We ask for your continued support, passion, and excitement this season. We are looking forward to having all members of the Blue Hen Nation out to support the fastest game on campus during the 2013-2014 season!

UD to Host 2014 ACHA National Hockey Championships!
Men’s Division I National Championship March 6-11, 2014
Women’s Division I & II National Championships March 13-16, 2014
The University of Delaware will again host the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) National Men’s and Women’s Championships in 2014. The 2014 Men’s Division I Championship will be held March 6-11, 2014 and the Women’s Division I and Division II National Championships will be held March 13-16, 2014.
The University of Delaware Hockey programs and the UD community are pleased to once again welcome the ACHA tournament. Hoping to build on the successful 2011 championship tournament held in Newark and with the addition of the Women’s tournaments, UD will have an opportunity to highlight the university programs as well as show-off the surrounding community.
Both tournaments will be held at the University of Delaware’s Fred Rust Arena and the Gold Ice Arena. The single elimination men’s tournament will consist of 20 teams, each made up of 20-25 players. The Women’s Division I tournament takes the top eight teams and splits them into two pools that eventually meet in the championship round. The Women’s Division II tournament also uses a round-robin format for the preliminary round. A total of 16 women’s teams participate.
So mark your calendars and plan to attend and cheer on the Men's and Women's UD Hockey teams.
