You will get Calendars in advance. You have the April-June Calendar.
If your daughter works, her boss needs to have her Calendar too.
If they miss practice the week of a game, they will sit out for the game.
2
The Freshmen cheerleaders will sign a discipline contract. The contract is expected to be followed ALL YEAR.
Please Read and Sign
Return by Wednesday, April 15th practice
3
Step 1 – If the cheerleader has a concern or issue they need to bring it to the attention of their coach.
Step 2 – If the problem has not been fixed, then the coach, parent(s) and cheerleader will meet and talk about solutions to the problem.
Step 3 – If still not solved, all parties will meet with Emily Warren in Athletics
4
We support open communication. We should be able to talk to the girls, and they should be able to talk to us. Same goes with the parents.
Ms. Warren is very busy, and a lot of problems can be resolved by effective communication with the girls and parents.

Respectful Young Ladies ◦ Respecting each other
As teammates As people
◦ Respecting your teachers◦ Respecting us, and EVERY OTHER UNION COACH
Including us, Coach Stacey Beams, Coach Cat, Coach Danzy, Coach Tori, Coach Alicia and Coach Jordan
◦ Respecting your teammates parents Parents need to respect cheerleaders, coaches, and
each other
8
Respect YOURSELF
You are leaders at school. People know you represent Union Cheer, so make sure your actions and words reflect this
It is expected that you guys have a clean image, and that you are acting as role models. This needs to be reflected on Facebook/Myspace/Twitter/Instagram/etc.
9
To be successful this year, we have to be a team
Everyone will be treated equally
Everyone needs to be a valuable member of the team, pulling their own weight. Everyone needs to be a piece of the puzzle
10
Tumbling ◦ Everyone is expected to be in an outside tumbling
class and dedicated to increasing their skills◦ Expected to Maintain tumbling skills thrown at
Tryouts. We will tumble EVERYDAY. Tuesdays with JV, and the
other days with us. This will build muscle around ankles, wrist and the repetition will make our tumbling stronger. All of this = LESS INJURIES!
11
We will NOT tumble on the spring floor◦ That is an all-star apparatus, not school cheer
apparatus◦ We will compete on flat mat all year◦ We will occasionally tumble on basketball court◦ We can and will spot anything needed to be
warmed–up; however, we do not want cheerleaders dependent on us to tumble.
12
If you are injured, you are injured. Safety first.
All cheerleaders are recommended to see Koby Smith or Dan Newman (Union Athletic trainers).
We need doctor’s notes to excuse you from practice or participation.
If you are too injured to do X, then you are too injured to do Y.
If you sit out from practice then you DO NOT cheer sidelines at the game that week or cheer at pep rally.
13
Practice is mandatory
If you are sick, call us the night BEFORE practice. If you call us before, during, or after practice, it won’t be excused.
If you miss practice, you cannot cheer at the game or pep rally that week.
If you are not at school for at least half a day, you cannot cheer at the game that day.
14
Cheer is a grade. Attendance and participation will be reflected in your grade. Wearing designated practice outfits is considered in the grade as well.
Our Cheer Philosophy – Perfection over Progression.
Safety first – Skills working should match ability (i.e. Have a tuck, want to work fulls)
15
All cheerleaders need to have a physical dated after May 1, 2015◦ This is an Athletics policy◦ Even of your daughter received a physical for
tryouts, we still need one dated after May 1st
Union Physical Night◦ May 4, 2015◦ UMAC◦ Exact time- TBA
16
Camp expenses -Paid by parent – Approx. $286
Camp Clothes - Paid by parent – Approx. $ 180◦ 5 shirts, 3 shorts, 4 bows, 2 pairs of shoes and backpack
Camp nightly meals, snacks, water , Gatorade – Paid by parent – Approx. $50
17
Camp is at OSU in Stillwater– June 4th-6th
We will caravan to camp
Please feel free to support the girls each night at camp!
Schedule of camp and ideas on what items to pack are in packet
No males are allowed on the dorm floor!
Depending on the dorm- beds maybe double size/single rooms. We will pair them!
18
We continuing with monthly dues instead of “on-demand” payments
Freshmen dues are $30 and due at each booster meeting
Dues will cover the girls second pair of shoes, state t-shirts, parties, competition buy-in, music, etc.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE WILL NOT FUNDRAISE OR HAVE EXPENSES THAT COME UP DURING THE YEAR
20
It is expected that all girls participate in fundraising
Ideally, we could fundraise the bulk of our expenses for the year
All fundraising ideas need to be approved through Cat and Stacey
Again, fundraisers are mandatory
21
All of Union Cheer will wear Varsity Last Pass shoes and a game day shoe
Parents will purchase both shoes upfront and will retain the competition shoe (Last Pass) until competition season
Total price for both pair is approximately $100
22
Organized tumbling every Monday morning at Gymnastics Room
All girls attend this tumbling and are expected to respect the coaches
23
Girls will be required to participate in weekly skills checks on Mondays
Every cheerleader is required to maintain the skills they had at tryouts
They must also continue to show improvement with their skills
If a cheerleader does not maintain their skills, they could lose their opportunity to be on the competition team.
24
We will compete locally as well as regionally.
This will include traveling and possibly staying the night for competition
We will compete on FLAT FLOOR ONLY, unless unable to have flat floor at comp.
100% Team participation for competitions. This is a Sideline and Competitive team.
25
9th grade cheer= strong basic fundamentals Parents can encourage and help foster
growth in team and cheerleaders OR they can hinder growth in team and cheerleaders
For your children to respect the coaches it HAS to start at home
Safety is ALWAYS our first concern We want to promote excellence in your
Student athlete on the mat, and off. We have high expectations, but we will help
them achieve them every step of the way
